I'm unsure if this is an error, but 2 of the 3 Minutemen who helped take back The Castle didn't have names. Only the radio operator had his name when I arrived at the small cafe.
Also, I used the AIO We Have Names Mod. I'm unsure if this mod has the same issue, but since this is in the AIO, I figured I'd send this here. The only mods I use for the MM are WATM and Improved Minutemen.
Sounds like a load order issue. Make sure WHN loads after other MM mods. Also, make sure you're using the most recent version of WHN, which addressed the issue of those MM not displaying their names.
I downloaded V8 of the mod, and set WHN AIO to load after Improved Minutemen and W.A.T.M by managing the rules. What I got was not only the 2 minutemen having their names NOT changed, but Gerald Hale reverted his name back to "Minuteman."
Checked v8 to make sure I didn't upload the wrong file, but everything is good there. So, you definitely have some other mod that is overriding these Minutemen. Have you checked your load order in fo4edit? It'll show you which mod is overriding WHN.
I would like to put the nail in the final coffin and confirm that this issue was an error on my part. Turns out I didn't have the Diverse Wasteland AiO and WHN AiO Compat file. After downloading it mid-game (after the Retaking Independence), I can say that the 3 minutemen now have names.
I'm sorry for bringing this confusing mess to your comment section.
No, this mod simply gives names to faction NPCs who are unique but weren't given names by the game developers. The Minuteman radio operator, for instance, is a unique NPC, but he doesn't have a name. This mod gives him one.
well i went for the minutemen ending and i wanted to change the vanilla minute men name to something like U.N.F(Union of national freedom) just didnt know if theres a mod for that kinda thing.
Ah, okay. Yeah, my mod doesn't allow the user to rename things; rather, it gives names to certain NPCs who didn't have them. I don't know of any mods that do what you're looking for. I'm not sure it is even possible--at least not in a way that wouldn't require massive changes to the game.
The AiO contains everything from the eight individual entries, including this one. So, if you want to use all of them, use the AiO. If you want to pick and choose, go with the individual installments.
Think you can make a patch for the mod BDR - BoS Done Right? Seems that if I load your mod before, it doesn't show their names. If I load your mod after, I can't barter with the mess officer LOL. Other than that it works as intended for the other factions.
I'll take a look and see what's what. If it is simple, I'll do it. If not, well, leave it to the to Brotherhood mess up a perfectly good mod. This "Factions Edition" was supposed to be #6 in the series, but the BoS stomped all over my plans and pushed the release to #8. They should reverse their abbreviation from BoS to SoB. ;-)
Edit: I'll be releasing v2 shortly, so if a patch happens, it'll be for the newer version.
Yeah the BoS mods can be a pain. I tried looking at in in FO4Edit, it just gave me a headache. I was going to try and see if i could either edit your mod to change the name on that one NPC or change BDR to reflect your changes. I gave up on trying to edit BDR LOL. But hey, thanks for looking into it and lemme know what you come up with.
Is the mess officer the only one causing an issue? You should be able to simply open my mod and delate his NPC (actor) reference so that it doesn't override the BoS Done Right entry.
Yes he's the only one. Since he didn't have a name before, BDR used the vanilla reference to make him a working food vendor. I'll look into your mod and make a backup and delete the entry. I also have a mod that you can rename anything via console command, so I may just go that route and rename him that way lol.
Yeah, deleting my version of him should allow the other mod's version to take over. Also, you can go into that version and give him the name from my version. There's a post farther down where I describe how to do that very thing. By the way, I named him Gordon because I thought naming him Ramsey would be too obvious. ;-)
LOL Yeah I deleted his reference and is working like it should. I may try at another time to edit BDR for his reference to work with yours, but like I said I have Rename Anything so I can go that route for the time being, and give him his "Gordon" name back.
Glad to hear it worked. The food vendor feature is definitely of greater worth than a name and the possibility of him being slightly taller/shorter during your next playthrough.
Yeah and on another playthrough going the survival difficulty route I'll need him LOL. All is well, I just renamed him via console using the Rename Anthing mod ;-)
If you're familiar with fo4edit, you can open the mod, scroll down to Non-Player Character (Actor) and click that, then click the specific NPC you want to change. From there, scroll down the right-side pane until you get to the Full Name/Short Name fields, whereupon you right click the listed name, select "Edit," type the name you want in the ensuing pop-up window, click "Ok" when finished, and then "Save" upon exiting fo4edit. That's the quick-and-dirty of it. I hope it makes sense.
Just an FYI, you can only change names in a mod. You can't change the names in the Fo4 esm.
I'll have to check to be sure, but I believe she rebuilt the generic NPCs from the ground up, so there shouldn't be any issues. Fortunately, she gave me patch permissions for that mod a couple of weeks ago, so if there is a conflict, I'll be able to patch it right away.

I don't know what I'm doing wrong.
