For some reason the Institute in my game looks bright AF and i can't see anything, thus it is unplayable there. I do have the Institute patch and I made sure to load it last in my load order, but it didn't have any effect... I also finished the dialogue with father and noticed that even with the timescale set back to normal the bloom still goes insane.

Did you set any NAC fake-enb presets in NAC?

I was indeed using a NAC preset (standalone), but disabling it didn't tone down the brightness. I tried reseting NAC as a whole and the Institute was less bright (still VERY bright, but I could see things at least), but only until I launched NAC climates...

how do I make the auto focus of the depth of field 'faster' or 'feel more snappy' when moving from one point of focus to another? I searched the posts and the in-game helper but could not find it.

I tested the depth of field settings a bit, but it still does not feel good to my tastes. I have a depth of field config that I prefer from another ENB and was wondering if I can replace enbdepthoffield.fx and enbdepthoffield.fx.ini without any issues? It has different parameters from this ENB's only 4 (aperture, scale, bokeh, chroma).

Loving this mod! Total, uh, game-changer. But I'm having some problems with rapid shadow changes. It's hard to convey via images, but here you go:

    https://imgur.com/a/sFUdATs

These pics were taken a second apart, and you can already see a change. It's most noticeable in the sunbeam to the left of the screen in the bottom image, but you can also see it in the shadows on the bridge. The changes are distracting because they're so fast and abrupt. Imagine walking through a forest with the sunlight dappling the ground. Instead of the shadows gently shifting as the tree branches sway in the breeze, they jump back and forth as if the sun can't quite keep up.

I'm using L00p's settings with some minor modification (i.e., I found the DoF a little too extreme, so I turned it off). Nothing involving shadows, though. I've tried turning off SSAO in both the ini file and ENB, to no effect. I've also tried changing the sun update and sun timescale, but that hasn't addressed the problem either.

Thanks for any help y'all can provide.

Hey! Thought I'd come back with a solution in case anyone else had this problem. Turns out my Fallout4Prefs.ini was missing a *lot*, including the entire section on HBAO+! Adding that section from the STEP guide (https://wiki.step-project.com/Guide:Fallout4Prefs_INI) solved the issue, and now all is beautiful. It raises the question why my ini was missing that in the first place, though. Anyone have any insight into the matter?

Hi - love this ENB!! Question - my game looks a little too bright so i did some tinkering and found a couple ways to help but i have questions:
1st - what does GLOBAL do? When i turn it off it gets better in terms of darkness BUT am i missing out on cool features??
2nd - i could simply turn down the brightness under color but its pretty low now at 15 and still very bright - is this simply the best way?
3rd - If i turn on original post possessing (which helps in terms of darkness) am i losing to much good stuff?

Im not new to modding but im far from adept - just hoping for a little guidance on using this awesome mod.

Hello, i like the mod. What is enbeffect.fx and why any changes in this section doesn't modify visual at all? Only enbpostpass.fx modify visuals. I have NAC installed btw.
I would love to be able to modify myself independently the interior color shading, and exteriors.

PS: tu peux me répondre en français si ça t'arrange ;)

just exit and comeback to institute. It's only because you load a save inside the cell that is modified from the patch, so there is a conflict between older datas and new datas.

Hello, I'm having an annoying issue and I'd really like some help to fix it. The issue is that the lights in interiors look veery bright and they make objects and npcs have some kind of glow around them, which is extremely distracting and makes my eyes almost bleed (I'll provide links for some screenshots). The ENB looks ABSOLUTELY stunning in exteriors and I don't want to stop using it because of this issue in interiors, so if i could get any help, I would be really glad.

Edit: the Realistic Lights plugin is just the bloom remover version

Which lighting mods are you using? Do you have the PRC Patch for ENBs installed?

Picture number 3 seems to be the double-vision glitch from not having the vanilla Depth of Field disabled. For this you could check out PRC Weather Patch which has support for all vanilla image spaces (interior and weathers).

Also if you don't have the image space edits from NAC, the PRC bloom could react too sensitive to bright surfaces.

Hi ScrollTron1c, thanks for your reply! after doing some testing i found out that disabling the RealisticLights.esp (bloom remover only from Fr4nsson's Light Tweaks) makes the glow around light sources disappear, so it may be some kind of conflict between the mod and PRC. I do have the PRC patch for enbs and the institute patch, but i will download the prc weather patch since the True Storms mod caught my attention. Besides that, i would like to THANK YOU for pointing out how to solve the double vision glitch, since i was getting that when objects were facing the horizon. This issue was more visible when aboard the prydwen, where my eyes almost bled from all the ghosting going on lol. As for NAC, i don't plan to use this mod since i like the visuals provided by vanilla lighting + PRC enb and I'm not a big fan of pitch black nights, but even though, can you elaborate/provide screenshots about the bloom issue from not using NAC? Also, do you know if ELFX and NAC go along well? The first time i tried NAC i didn't like it very much, it kinda made everything very bright and washed out... Anyways, thank you for your help!

Edit: If you don't mind, i would like to know if there is some way to reduce the brightness from some light sources, like the pipboy (im using this mod https://www.nexusmods.com/fallout4/mods/10840/?tab=videos&BH=8) since they tend to make npcs look a bit weird

can you elaborate/provide screenshots about the bloom issue from not using NAC?

Well i made my own camera preset called PRC Premiere, which is heavily optimized for NAC. One time i tested how well it works without NAC, and the outdoor weathers were good, but the interiors were at least twice too bright. So it's possible that vanilla interiors (or other mods, like darker interiors or fog removers) can still be somewhat overexposed with default PRC. This was just an assumption for your case though (unlike the evident double-vision effect).

Also, do you know if ELFX and NAC go along well? The first time i tried NAC i didn't like it very much, it kinda made everything very bright and washed out

I think for PRC 0.9.1, l00ping actually suggests ELFX for interiors. So it should be working fine.
ELFX uses its own interior image spaces, so they override those from NAC unless you make a patch. The ones from ELFX are a lot more colorful and contrasty, so the ENB settings have to be adjusted depending on which mod wins the conflict.

I personally use Ultra Interior Lighting though, which has better performance than ELFX, less bugs, and covers all interiors+DLC. And it doesn't use its own image spaces.

If you don't mind, i would like to know if there is some way to reduce the brightness from some light sources, like the pipboy

If you feel everything else is properly lit then you'd have to edit the light of the PB Flashlight directly in its plugin.
From my own testing, the obnoxiously bright PB lights are a side effect from the mentioned ELFX image spaces though.

And if you want to check out what you can edit within the PRC GUI itself - i posted some tips about tweaking night brightness, and most can probably be used to tweak interiors as well.
Look on the first page of the PRC Premiere comments, for the post from April 2nd in reply to Archerdown's thread. There is a spoiler with lots of pics and explanations what the settings do.

Okay so I actually managed to get the enb to look very amazing with NAC, and I have to say, it doesn't look washed out and overly bright, so i guess that time I made things work as intended. As for ELFX, I managed to make interiors look right maybe by overwritting it with the PRC patch for enbs (I don't remember if it was really this plugin) and adjusted the pipboy color to grey so that the flashlight isn't overly bright... i'm most surprised by the fact that i managed to make the colors in the enb look exactly as they were before downloading a preset and NAC (now I'm using the Clean light preset) and that I'm able to mantain 60 fps almost everywhere, which wasn't happening before! Thereby, i have kinda an upgrade of the enb i had before xD. Btw, thanks for the link to the thread about tweaking night and interiors, as they are playable now without relying on the pipboy all the time, and I may also test your preset to see how it goes in my game, since it looks very well done.

Hello! I am following the instruction but i dont understand what the "3 • Download and install Institute Patch for PRC and PRC Patch for Enbs. (mandatory plugins located in the miscellaneous downloads)" means. I downloaded the two files but what now? drop them too in the game's folder? Or?
    Thanks for the help!

Once you have downloaded the institute PRC patch, drop it in the data folder of your fallout installation folder ie: Fallout 4/Data/<drop institute patch esp here>.
then activate the plugin file through NMM or the plugins.txt file.
The institute PRC patch is supposed to tone down the bloom when you're inside the institute.
      Good luck, happy modding.

I had a strange issue where when only during night time depending on location(near or inside sanctuary homes not sure about anywhere else tho) lighting/colors would drastically change based on where my camera was pointed almost like if the enb disabled itself and this only happened in first person. I tried disabling many options or adjusting and the only thing that would fix it would be to toggle the enb off. I tried 5 different presets and nothing changed the only thing that worked was swapping to your enb enhancer you have in the download section of NAC.

I only utilized NAC(skipped the interior option),this enb ("NAC enhancer" now), and your two patches available here as my only lighting/weather mods. The two .dll files are from the latest update and my game has current update as well. I also made sure any programs that could interact poorly with the enb were disabled. (like msi afterburner/rtss and geforce experience)

I7 4790, RTX 2070, 16gb ram 1600mhz, 1080p, and the game is installed on an ssd.

Hey man, GREAT work, you've taken ENB to places I didn't know it could go. Quick question, I'm getting some ghosting when spinning the camera, (most noticeable on controller) is that normal? I'm using the Ultimate Immersion preset now, but I've seen the same artifacts on others as well.

I'm having a really hard time getting screenshots of it, but here goes nothing: https://imgur.com/u4BKn0P -- You can clearly see 1 band in this shot, but on my screen in motion I see 3 or 4 ghost-bands. I don't think it's just my monitor either. Do you know what I'm talking about? Anything I can do? Thanks!

I'm seeing the same, could be several things (most likely point #1):

      1) Temporal Anti-Aliasing - this has a lot of inertia which gives some ghosting and can also flicker on some objects. The higher the contrast, the more ghosting, like the stars at night when you run in 1st person should also have visible tails.
The image quality in 1080p is really bad with FXAA though, so there's no real fix besides supersampling in 2160p with TAA disabled.

      2) Motion Blur - if you use NAC, it overrides the game settings with NAC.ini on launch (bMBEnable=1). So no matter what options you set in the launcher or in the other Fallout ini files, the NAC settings will be used. You can disable Motion Blur with the NAC Holotape, or edit NAC.ini directly.

      3) Lens Aberration - sometimes i also see something similar on distant actors moving around near the edges of the screen, probably caused by this PRC effect. You can check by setting the Lens Aberration to 0 in enbeffectpostpass.fx

Thanks for the reply. It's cool I'm not crazy and there are others noticing it as well. It's probably not widespread because I find it really hard to even recreate at all with a mouse. But with a controller, spinning at half tilt around a character in third person, it's hard not to see.

1.) I as well thought it might be TAA, and it might be still, but I only see the effect pronounced enough to be noticable when "EnablePostPassShader=true" -- which is why I come to report it here. Still though could just be the way the processing is amplifying normal TAA artifacts, true.

2.) I do use NAC, and I want to investigate more into the motion blur settings, I tried using the Holotape to test before and afters, but I have having trouble seeing the difference, I've also noticed it hard to see the different between on and off of the launcher setting for vanilla motion blur, both effects are very light, not like more modern implementations of per-object and camera motion blur in newer games. More testing is needed.

3.) Neat, I'll check that out as well.

NAC Motionblur doesn't make a difference with this.
Frankly, i don't think there is much one can do about that.
Better visuals in this game come with a price.
Proper set PRC+NAC is the best it can be (IMHO), i don't even see the "downsides" anymore.
Maybe it's because i play 1st person only.
