This mod scatters a few new lore notes throughout the world of the Commonwealth to either add or more explicitly highlight the queerness of various characters (and corpses). It also modifies a few existing vanilla notes for added diversity and realism. If you like this mod please track it, as I plan to add more notes whenever inspiration strikes. (Suggestions are also welcome!)

I suppose this does often fall into the "bury your gays" situation because the writers of many of these notes are doubtless dead...but this is Fallout. Most of the world is dead. But that doesn't mean it has to all be straight.

Yes, there are already canonically gay characters (living and dead both) in Fallout 4. But not many, and obviously not enough. This mod, and the others I'm making like it, aim to rectify the overabundantly heteronormative nature of the game's setting by adding some more queerness into the bits and pieces that make up the trappings of life (and death) in the Commonwealth both pre- and post-war to make the environs feel more natural and realistic.

Or to put it another way: we're here, we're queer, and no nuclear apocalypse is going to change that!

You may be familiar with my mods from Skyrim (if so, hi again!) but you should know that I am much less familiar with the world of Fallout than I am with that of Elder Scrolls. As such, I enthusiastically welcome your feedback and suggestions for other locations, characters, tweaks, or subjects for additional notes.

File Options:
There is a basic file that uses the names "Nora" and "Nate" to refer to the family of the Sole Survivor in the journal written by their neighbor. There are also alternate files that replace either "Nora" or "Nate" with the Player's Name. Please choose only one file for each playthrough! The files will not conflict; but you will have duplicates of every note if you have more than one plugin loaded at a time.

Because they use all the same assets stored in the same folders, you may download all three plugins and simply enable/disable them as desired according to your playthrough without having to re-install the meshes/textures/etc each time.

Want more? This mod is completely stand-alone, but you can also install its companion mod, based off Notes of the Commonwealth, for a little more queer immersion there, too!

Installation:

Either install with your favorite mod manager or download manually and drop it directly into your data file. The plugin is esl-flagged so it will not take up a slot in your load order.

Compatibility & Patch Permission:
Since aside from naming two of your doomed neighbors, this mod does nothing but add scattered notes through the world, the easiest thing to do if you have compatibility concerns is just to make sure that it loads before any mods you're worried about, so you can ensure their edits overwrite anything in this mod. At worst, you'll miss a note or two, or maybe find a piece of paper floating in a strange place because something moved a table or something. That said, anyone is welcome to make patches to help this mod play better with others. You do not need to ask for permission to make compatibility patches or translations!

UPDATE: It appears there was a compatibility issue with Scrap Everything. This has since been solved, thanks to some troubleshooting help from Radic0le, and update files have been uploaded for all three main versions of the mod. They are esp-replacers only, so you still need to download one of the other files to get the necessary meshes and textures. This change will be included for all files in the next general update to the mod, but if you use a different version of the mod and need the compatibility fix uploaded now for your mod version, let me know and I'll put that together for you.

—This mod includes some of the assets from Real Readable Books thanks to the generous terms of Zorkaz's mod. If you have that mod or Goodneighbor Daisy's Library installed, your mod-manager may show a conflict; it doesn't matter which one overwrites the other, because they're the exact same meshes/textures. (Personally I would suggest having Zorkax's mods overwrite mine, in case they ever make any visual updates to the book files, but until/unless that happens they are literally the exact same things so it doesn't matter which one "wins" the conflict.)

*Permissions are closed for making anything aside from compatibility patches and translations, in order to avoid potentially bigoted shenanigans. Thus if you want to do anything else with this mod, you must ask me first — but I will almost certainly say yes!

DLC Requirements:
Eventually I expect to add notes everywhere, but at the moment (version 1.0) only Far Harbor is included, so I have removed the masters requirements for the other DLCs (for now).

Bigoted nonsense in the comments will get you blocked, and potentially reported. If you don't want this mod, just go away and don't download it. Easy!
