About this mod

Working on cleaning up locations around the Commonwealth. All locations have a version that utilizes PRP and has previs/precombines regenerated.

INTRODUCTION

I use my Textures for Cleaning Up the Commonwealth mod to clean up a lot of stuff, but I was still not happy with the piles of trash everywhere, so I started cleaning up the Commonwealth.

I realize that there are mods out there that do similar things, but I just couldn't find any that did exactly what I wanted so I started work on this for myself and figured I'd share it. Although I do call this Commonwealth Cleanup and Restoration, the restoration is more in terms of restoring the Commonwealth to a more civilized state and not restoring all the old buildings to look like new. That's just not realistic.

There are 2 versions available for each location. One that breaks precombines/previs but will have more compatibility with other mods that alter the location, and the other that is designed to be used with Previsibines Repair Pack (PRP)The PRP versions are under Main Files, the non PRP versions are under Miscellaneous. Because really, you should be using the PRP version.

There's more than one AIO for PRP depending on what version you are using. 1.0prp0.59 is for PRP v0.59.xx and 1.0prp0.65 is for PRP v0.65. The individual files are still PRP v0.59.xx.

On some of the locations I edited the landscape to remove twigs but this was tedious to get it to look right. If you hate those twigs (especially at Tenpines) then I suggest using this mod No More Twigs. It does cover the entire worldspace but it's easier than trying to modify them on a per location basis.

COMPATIBILITY PATCHES

If you would like to use The Beantown Interiors Project, you can use The Beantown Interiors Project - PRP Patch. I'm working on a patch for Settlements Part 01, but part 2 works with it.

FAQs

Please see the sticky post.

COMMONWEALTH SETTLEMENTS
Boston Airport (Standalone)
Spoiler:
Show
Cleaned up the brambles and debris in and close to the build area. The concrete barricades are now scrapable. Converted the workshop to a full settlement workshop so you can now build food resources.

AIO Settlements - Part 01
Abernathy Farm (Standalone also available)

Spoiler:
Show
The entire Abernathy home can now be scrapped (the pylon cannot).

The following items have been hidden:
  • Brambles
  • Dead shrubs
  • Holly shrubs
  • Trash decals (office papers, etc)
  • Trash piles
  • Vines

Bunker Hill
Spoiler:
Show
I struggled with this one a bit. It's an established settlement and the hub of the caravan network, but there were tires and trash and cinder blocks and even an old van cluttering up the place. I like to leave most of the vanilla items that can be scrapped alone, but in this case, I decided to get rid of all that junk. So, if you take over Bunker Hill, there won't be much to scrap.

Besides cleaning up the trash, I also made the scaffolding scrapable so you can get rid of that thing that goes nowhere.

The Castle
Spoiler:
Show
No quest items were modified, so you should not have a problem installing this mod at any time before or after Taking Independence and Old Guns. Vines, shrubs, mirelurk gunk will remain until after the quest and fast traveling far away and back again. Or, if you don't want to wait for it to clean up, you can use this console command:
cqf DN133 "DN133QuestScript.CleanUpMirelurkClutter"

The following items can now be scrapped (only affects items at the Castle):
  • Shack around radio tower
  • Bricked walls in the windows (may have to use tcl to get to them)
  • Shelves in the armory
  • Catwalks and planks are now scrapable (a word of caution, if you scrap the planks by the catwalks, your settlers/minutemen will walk right off the catwalk where the planks were)

The following items have been hidden:
  • Cleaned up the rubble, debris, and dead shrubs around the castle (the marsh stuff, vines, and other overgrowth is cleaned up after Taking Independence)
  • Removed all stains and rust stains on the walls of the castle.

Other changes:
  • Added retaining wall pieces to complete the walkway in front and to fill in the holes created after removing trash in the corners.
  • Removes the tall grass from the courtyard so it doesn't come through the floors of my buildings (if you are using a landscape mod, you still may get grass coming through).

Coastal Cottage
Spoiler:
Show
I kept the parts of the house that were still standing. I didn't want to remove the entire house and some blueprints use it to build within. There are a lot of pieces to the house so I didn't bother to make it scrapable.

Cleaned up the following:
  • Trash Piles
  • Brambles
  • Office Paper Debris
  • Hedge Rows
  • Vines
  • Wood debris piles and planks

Items can now be scrapped:
  • Large crates
  • Beer crate
  • Couch
  • Tree cluster (The ground had to be recreated under the tree cluster and it's not perfect due to the cave underneath, but now you can remove the trees and build there if you like)

County Crossing
Spoiler:
Show
Cleaned up the following:
  • Trash Piles
  • Brambles
  • Office Paper Debris
  • Hedge Rows
  • Cars next to water outside workshop border
  • Marsh scum in the water

Items can now be scrapped:
  • The shack
  • Oil Lamp

Croup Manor
Spoiler:
Show
My goal for this was not to rebuild the house but to make it so that stuff would not be in the way if someone did want to rebuild it.

Cleaned up the following:
  • Trash Piles
  • Brambles
  • Office Paper Debris
  • Hedge Rows
  • Dead shrubs
  • A bunch of other stuff

Other changes:
  • The scaffolding by the statue can be scrapped.
  • There was a wall in the 2nd floor closet that made no sense. I removed it and that opened up the closet quite a bit.
  • Fixed a mound off to the right of the house that had empty space underneath it.
  • Removed the piece of the wall on the 1st floor that was tilted and would stick out if attempting to rebuild the walls.
  • Lined up the broken walls to the left as you walked in the door. They were not lined up and it made it difficult to place new walls there.
  • Moved the stairs in on the first floor just a bit as it was causing flickering on the window outside.
  • On the 3rd floor, added a door to the roof. The broken wall piece that was there would be in the way if attempting to rebuild that wall.
  • Created a custom ground texture set to remove the twigs and grass around the house.

Egret Tours Marina
Spoiler:
Show
Cleaned up all the normal stuff, brambles, vines, trash, etc. Removed that piece of flooring that was falling down and always in the way of building. The annoying frag mines are gone too.

Finch Farm
Spoiler:
Show
Abigail Finch is always complaining to Abraham about the piles of stuff... so do I clean it up? Yes, yes, I do. Not much to do here but flattened the pile of trash and changed the ground texture.

Greentop Nursery
Spoiler:
Show
I struggled with this one and I may have actually patched it up too much. In order to keep the rain out, I had to add a roof under the existing roof, and to make that look decent I used a prewar roof with postwar textures to cover the added roof.

Cleaned up the following:
  • Trash Piles
  • Brambles
  • Trash Decals
  • Creosote
  • Cars just outside the workshop border
  • Vines

Items can now be scrapped:
  • The shack next to the house
  • The entire greenhouse
  • The greenhouse tables, planters and pots.

Other changes:
  • Patched up the walls and roof of the house to keep the rain out.
  • Those settlers finally decided they didn't like living in a shack, so they painted and patched up the house as best as they could.
  • Modified material files to keep the floor from looking like it is wet.
  • Fixed an issue where one of the fertilizer bags would still be owned even after claiming the settlement.
  • Swapped out the lights on the greenhouse with lights that are on.
  • Created new meshes for the greenhouse to fix the broken glass.

Hangman's Alley
Spoiler:
Show
Thought this would be an easy one considering how small it is, but a lot of the trash piles are actually landscape, so lots of altering of the landscape on this one.

The following items can be scrapped:
  • The shack on stilts
  • The stairs
  • Fire barrels
  • Roof and pillars by the workshop that was always in the way of building up
  • Red roof on apartment building
  • Apartment building sign

Other changes:
  • Increased build area height
  • Dead bodies hanging outside are gone (I had to think about this one for a bit, considering the name of the settlement, but I would hope that the first thing settlers would do when taking over would be to remove the dead bodies)
  • Electrical wires are hidden because I got tired of walking through them when building up.

Jamaica Plain
Spoiler:
Show
Jamaica Plain is such a small settlement and Beth took up 1/4 of the space with a useless boarded-up house. I removed that house and put a new one there and did my best to make sure it looks like it belongs and wasn't just plopped in.

Cleaned up the following:
  • Trash Piles
  • Clutter Slime
  • Clutter Generic
  • Wood debris piles and planks
  • Lots more stuff

Kingsport Lighthouse
Spoiler:
Show
Not much to do here and wasn't even sure if I should even bother with it, but here it is. Cleaned up some trash decals, brambles, shrubs and a few dead fish.

Murkwater Construction Site
Spoiler:
Show
Removed all the debris, brambles, vines, etc. Removed the forklift. Removed the frame around the workshop. Mowed the grass (or should I say mud?).

Oberland Station
Spoiler:
Show
Thanks to g2mXagent granting permission to use a mesh from G2M - Workshop, the station house at Oberland has been opened up on the bottom floor. There are also snap points so you can add doors. Other than that, I just mowed the lawn and removed some trees (outside the workshop border, left those that can be scrapped). There wasn't a lot to do here, but I did want to open up that station house as I never understood why it was boarded up.

Red Rocket
Spoiler:
Show
The following items can now be scrapped (only affects items at Red Rocket):
  • Tables
  • Diner counter

The following items have been hidden:
  • Trash decals (office papers, etc)
  • Tree Saplings
  • Brambles
  • Leaf piles
  • Fueling Arm
  • Trash piles
  • Vines

Sanctuary
Spoiler:
Show
The following items can now be scrapped (only affects items in Sanctuary):
  • Leaf piles
  • Privet hedges
  • Bathroom radio
  • Bathroom racks & hooks
  • Shower
  • Shave drawer
  • Player_house_ruin Sink
  • HVAC Units

The following items have been hidden:
  • Brambles
  • Candles
  • Ceiling fans and other non-working lights
  • Dead shrubs
  • Holly shrubs
  • Plywood
  • Thermostats
  • Trash decals (office papers, etc)
  • Trash piles
  • Vines

Other changes:
  • Fancy wall lights have been replaced with working versions
  • The fence in the Southeast corner has been moved inside the workshop border so it can now be scrapped.

Starlight Drive-in
Spoiler:
Show
Not a whole lot to do here but I did want to make the projector and screen scrapable. The projector consists of a bunch of tiny parts and even using scrapping mods it can be a chore to scrap everything, so I linked all those parts to the main projector building. Be sure to remove and scrap all the contents in the buildings before scrapping them. The billboard inside the workshop border is also scrapable.

AIO Settlements - Part 02
Graygarden

Spoiler:
Show
Cleaned up the normal stuff, brambles, vines, clutter, shrubs, etc.

The following items can now be scrapped:
  • Industrial machines
  • Large tree cluster
  • Car
  • Handy parts
  • Moved the cinder block by the campfire inside workshop border so it can be scrapped
  • The bus on the overpass
  • The trailer on the overpass

Nordhagen Beach
Spoiler:
Show
Cleaned up the normal stuff, brambles, vines, clutter, shrubs, etc. Flattened the debris pile by the house. Hid the large crate that couldn't be scrapped. Hid seaweed and dead fish.

Outpost Zimonja
Spoiler:
Show
Cleaned up the normal stuff, brambles, shrubs, etc. Made everything scrapable.

The Slog
Spoiler:

The following items can now be scrapped:
  • Beds
  • Bathroom stalls and doors
  • Shower heads
  • Floor under the spring riders in the playground

Somerville Place
Spoiler:
Show
Cleaned up the normal stuff, brambles, shrubs, etc. Not much else to do here.

Sunshine Tidings
Spoiler:
Show
Cleaned up the normal stuff, brambles, shrubs, etc. Cleaned up the debris in the house missing the back wall and removed the plywood door so it can be rebuilt.

Taffington Boathouse
Spoiler:
Show
Cleaned up the normal stuff, brambles, shrubs, etc.

Tenpines Bluff
Spoiler:
Show
]Cleaned up the normal stuff, brambles, shrubs, etc.
The following items can now be scrapped:
  • Beds
  • Ruined house
  • Shack
  • Stairs
  • Stone walls

NOTE: The ground under the shack has a void so if you do scrap the shack, you'll probably want to build something in its place to cover the ground.

Warwick Homestead
Spoiler:
Show
Cleaned up trash inside the house and repaired the cat walks.

COMMONWEALTH LOCATIONS

Combat Zone (Standalone)

Spoiler:
Show
Cleaned up the following:
  • Trash Piles
  • Clutter Slime
  • Clutter Generic
  • Wood debris piles and planks
  • Lots more stuff

Goodneighbor (Exterior & Interior Standalone)
Spoiler:
Show

  • Cleaned up all trash piles, trash decals, etc in all exterior and interior locations (except the Warehouses).
  • Cleaned up all the bottles, cans, Abraxxo, etc that was littered all over the streets and alleys.
  • Items in exterior trash bins can now be taken without stealing.
  • Replaced the broken bed in The Old State House with a double bed.
  • The Third Rail has been modified quite a bit more than just a simple cleanup. I have added some more tables and moved things around a bit, and plan on doing more to this location in the future. I also opened up the 2nd bathroom on the 2nd floor where you enter.

FAR HARBOR SETTLEMENTS

Echo Lake Lumber (Standalone)
Spoiler:
Show
Echo Lake has a lot of linked items which meant if you scrapped a shelf, it would scrap all the trash around it too, so Echo Lake actually cleaned up pretty well. However, I don't want to scrap those crates just so I can clean up the trash. Maybe I like those crates and want to keep them. So, I removed the links from all the items and hid all the trash, so now if your settlers want to keep that shelf or those crates and still have a clean place to live, they can.

Besides cleaning up all the trash, I set up some of the broken roof pieces and the corner of the building to be scrapable. This is so you can rebuild it if you like without having stuff sticking out everywhere. I've uploaded a blueprint that restores the building Echo Lake Lumber by Aurelianis.

The building in front has also been opened up.
