THE MOD

This mod is inspired by the Settlement Management Software mod, which I used to use to help manage SS1.

You can now build a Settlement Management Terminal in your settlement to get information about plots, settlers (called citizens) and vanilla workshop objects. The terminal can be found in the SS2 furniture workshop menu. It does not require power.

The information the terminal gives you is information you would otherwise be able to get from other methods, it would just take you a lot longer. Like most things in SS2, play around and see what you can find! I've tried to make the layout intuitive, but here is a brief description of the menu options.

City Statistics
  • Get information on the number of plots used (homes, jobs and hobbys), as well as workshop jobs.
  • See the happiness and sanitation ratings of the settlement
  • See how much food, water, power and defense the settlement has, as well as if it is importing or exporting these through caravan (NOTE : the numbers for food and water imports and exports will only be accurate if SS2 caravan plots are used. IDEKs logistics station uses its own distribution code)

City Network Statistics

  • See the total surplus or deficit food, water, power and defense across your network. Again, the numbers will only be accurate if using SS2 caravan plots.
  • See how Food, Water, Power and Defense is distributed across your network (Note : on the page listing all settlements in the network, s is surplus, d is deficit, - means needs are just met. i is import, e is export, * means no sharing is available. So F:-i means there is just enough food, which is being imported)

ASAM Sensor Statistics (plots)
  • View summary information about plots of each type (number of plots, occupancy, amount at each level)
  • View plots in need of something (like the red holo icons that appear above the plot if you have that on)
  • See who is assigned to a plot and the status of the plot
  • Unassign settlers from the plot (only unassign - assignment must be done manually)

Citizen Statistics (settlers)
  • View settlers in need (ie, no job, no hobby, diseased etc).
  • Show settler SPECIAL stats if you have the vitamatic (once you get the vitamatic, shoot it at the terminal to turn on this function. This only has to be done once per game).
  • See at a glance who has a Home, a Job and/or a Hobby. You can even see if the training plot they are on is training the special stat they need for their job (if they have a job that is boosted by a Special Stat, it will say something like Ja - this is a job boosted by agility. The same applies to training plots, which say something like Ta).
  • See what a settler is assigned to (including workshop objects that are not part of plots)
  • Unassign settlers from plots or workshop objects they are assigned to (only unassign - assignment must be done manually)
  • Get settlers to use disease cures from anywhere on your settlement network or in your inventory
Note on using disease cures : to use the functions SS2 uses when using disease cures, a cure is taken from a workshop and put in your inventory (or from you inventory, then put back, lol). From there, the code simulates you using that cure on a settler. If the cure is unsuccessful (no diseases were cured), the cure is put back in your inventory by the SS2 code, then my code moves it back to the place it came from. Two things on this : 1) for this reason, cures are only distributed after you've logged off the terminal and then they are distributed every 5 seconds or so and 2) I've hidden notifications when the disease cure is moved to or from your inventory, but SS2 doesn't - so you may see notices about disease cures added to your inventory. That is SS2 returning it to you, then my code (silently) moves it back to where it took it from.

Workshop Beds and Job Statistics

  • View vanilla workshop objects (objects that are part of plots will not be shown)
  • See who is assigned to these objects and unassign them if you want.

Refresh Data
  • When unassigning settlers, most menus will update automatically. If something doesn't update, you can refresh the data.

Tools
  • Refresh all plots
  • Turn on or off automatic renaming if you use pra's What's your name mod and have the plugin installed
  • Turn on or off a warning for the player if a settler has bad assignments (ie, is assigned to two home plots)
  • Decide if an unassigned city planners desk should be ignored as a workshop item (if you don't plan on assigning anybody to it)
  • Create a caravan construction kit - a very heavy consumable that can be used to add enough virtual resources in a settlement to construct a caravan plot (it costs the same number of resources to make)
  • Tag all currently placed plots - if used before a city plan upgrades, you can then track all plots that were placed down during the upgrade.
  • Create an extended town meeting gavel (see below)

There are also two types of tracking available.
  • Select which plots, settlers, or workshop items to track (quest markers will be put on them). Anything currently tracked will have @ next to them.
  • Activate the ASAM at the top left of the terminal (instead of activating the terminal itself) to bring up the generic tracking menu. You can track plot types, workshop objects creating power, water etc.

The extended town meeting gavel
  • Designed to replace the town meeting gavel in your inventory. Adds extra options like summoning tracked settlers, summoning a specific settler, summoning settlers assigned to the closest plot. You can also use it to turn off selected or generic tracking, or remove the closest tracked object from being tracked.
  • Also has the option to use the regular town meeting gavel

MCM Support
  • Some options and hotkeys can be set in MCM if you have it.

If you have a renaming mod like Immersive Settlers or What's your name, the settlers names should appear correctly in the terminal. If you have What's your name, you can install the extra plugin to get the option under tools to have settlers renamed automatically when they arrive at your settlement.

Are there bugs? Probably - there's over 5000 lines of code involved. I've played with it for quite a while now, fixing bugs as I go. Any bugs you do encounter should just be aesthetic at this point. Aside from unassigning settlers, this mod only collects data, it does not change it. So any remaining bugs should not affect your game. If you find something, let me know.

INSTALLATION
I assume you either use a mod manager or otherwise know what you are doing at this stage.
At some stage I'll learn how FOMODs are made, but for now there are two files - one has the plugin for pras What's your Name mod and the other one doesn't. Only download one of them.

COMPATABILITY
No vanilla records are modified, so it should be compatible with anything.
NOTE : if you use Complex Item Sorter, exclude this mod when you create the patch. This mod uses misc item forms as nameholders for text replacement in the terminal and Complex Item Sorter may get confused by this (you should already be excluding anything else SS2 related as well)

AKNOWLEDGEMENTS
msalaba
Some time ago I mentioned my idea of this mod to msalaba and he said he had started working on something similar. We looked at it together and he ended up letting me take it over. He had already done terminal object and a lot of base code. This mod would not have been possible without his work and his ongoing help.
kinggath
If it weren't for Sim Settlements 1 and 2 I would have stopped playing Fallout 4 a long time ago. Instead, I've had countless hours of entertainment from a game I paid about $100 for (including DLCs) 8 years ago. I cannot fathom how much work kinggath has put into his mod and I am appreciative of the opportunity to support it any way I can.
bethesda
Yeah I know, but for the most part they have been making games that are very modable and releasing the tools to allow us to do it and for that I am grateful.
