Cats won't use doors on their own but will teleport with you when they are close by. That means they will sometimes wait in front of the door and just wait there.
Using "COC" is also kind of weird. Sometimes they will follow you, sometimes they won't. Sometimes they will wait in front of your door. Playing Survival I can't test fast-travel.
Love the mod, but I've run into an odd issue recently. Basically, I can have one cat in my settlement, but as soon as I adopt a new cat, the former disappears entirely. I thought maybe they just wandered a bit, but they are just gone.
I am running Diverse Cats and Immortal Cats 2, but they're above this in my load order. In F04Edit nothing seems to be overriding this mod's AI.
Edit: Forgot to mention, I'm on 1.10.163
Edit #2: I did find one of my missing cats near Red Rocket after I noticed another commenter mention it, so likely the same issue.
Hi, I'm having trouble taking the "adopted" cat into a settlement. The cat doesn't follow when I fast travel so I walked to diamond city and tried walking in but still doesn't follow. How can I solve this issue? Thank you <3
Two questions: 1. I have a mod that changes the stinky fish recipe. This should still work, right? I can craft and equip the fish just fine, I just haven't seen any cats yet. 2. Where are some good places to find cats?
I solved this problem for myself. I expanded the border of the Red Rocket and now the garage with Luna and Katana are part of my settlement. Maybe this experience will be useful to someone
For those who are curious, this mod does work with some housing mods, like the Goodneighbor Condo! All you have to do is go outside with the fish, wait until a cat starts following you, then go inside. Leave the stinky fish in a container, and the cat stays inside! It won't really walk around on it's own... but at least you'll have a kitty in your house!
I'm having an issue with this mod after quite a while of it working fine.
I traveled to Far Harbor, did some quests there, and returned to find all six of my adopted cats gone from the Red Rocket; the three cats I captured in cages were still there. Fortunately, I wrote down all their REF IDs in case they got lost in the grass, so I was able to bring them all back. One of them, however, had its fur reverted to the vanilla gray tabby instead of the orange tabby it had been. I checked on the only other location where I left adopted cats, Croup Manor, and the two cats I placed there were similarly gone. Now, whenever I fast travel, all adopted cats disappear, where this didn't happen previously; I'd had most of them there for quite some time, fast-traveling and all.
I installed no new mods nor did any console tinkering between when they were staying in place just fine, and when they vanished. I tried equipping the Stinky Fish item and summoning them all to me one by one (making sure it said they were following me), then releasing them, but that didn't help; they were gone again as soon as I fast traveled away and then back.
I know this mod was last updated a year ago, but is there a chance this could be looked into? I named these cats. (I use Rename Anything.) If you need my load order, I can post it.
Well, the issue is resolved for now. Instead of teleporting them to me, I teleported to them after finding them gone. Three had gone back to their single shared origin point, while the other three were sitting together on an unmarked hill southeast of the Red Rocket, roughly on course for Starlight Drive-In. At least one of the second group (Zulu) was adopted from Goodneighbor, so maybe they were going that way? I have no idea. They weren't even traveling when I got there, just sitting.
At any rate, re-adopting them from those locations seems to have fixed the problem. Another thing I did, though, was bring my Croup Manor cats to the Red Rocket with the others, as I adopted them shortly before going to Far Harbor and wondered if the split locations might be messing up the script or something, so it could also have been that which fixed it. I'll do more science on it when I go back to Far Harbor/next adopt a cat; if I head to Nuka-World, I'll do the same.
I don't believe so; it didn't come with a preset name, so would have been a vanilla cat. The console showed CatAdoption.esp to have been the last mod affecting it, so I assumed the orange fur came from something your mod did. If that's not the case... I'm not sure, but I do have a patched-in version of Diverse Dogs & Cats, so it's possible both mods were affecting the record and yours just loaded second. Either way, I can easily enough accept that it's screwy vanilla behavior, given how often things end up being that. Apologies for bothering you.
For the time being, I've taken advantage of Diverse Dogs & Cats to equip the now-gray cat with an orange skin from that mod, as it uses armor to change colors instead of material swap. I found the ID of an orange cat armor using xEdit, used the console to put one in the cat's inventory, then used another console command to force the cat to equip it. This DOES have a tendency to need redoing occasionally, but that cat was definitely orange. His name is Fiddlesticks.
I had the same problem. I noticed that the cats go back to their original places after reusing the fish and when I visit the settlement. So now I have collected them in one place and try not to disturb them.Unfortunately, during the year of using the mod, I found only three unique cats. Could you give a little bit where to go for them. I hope they are not at the Institute and on the Prydwen, because I want to blow up these places

What I would absolutly love is an optional file only containing the cat furniture.
There is no other mod on the nexus (or elsewhere as far as I knows that simply adds a cat bed to the workshop.
Thank you <3

Assuming vanilla and Mod cats can use them the same.

Is this one of the cats I've created?
