About this mod

This patch makes Hunter of the Commonwealth (by Zzyxzz) work with Mutant Menagerie: Horrors of the Deep Fog (by Delicon20).

Requirements
Permissions and credits
IMPORTANT: This patch requires the recent 1.6.1 update (or future versions) of Hunter of the Commonwealth! Obviously also requires Mutant Menagerie and its expansion Horrors of the Deep Fog.

NOTE: This patch not only covers the expansion Horrors of the Deep Fog, but also the main mod Mutant Menagerie. When using this patch, you do not need my other patch, which covers only the core version of Mutant Menageriehttps://www.nexusmods.com/fallout4/mods/58808. If you already have the older patch installed, you can disable it. Or if you keep it in your load order for some reason, make sure you load this new patch after the old one, and you should be good to go too, since the new patch will simply override the old one. The other patch will remain available for those who only have the core version of Mutant Menagerie installed.

Fog materials and unique items
Mutant Menagerie has very intricate leveled lists, which had to be integrated in HotC’s mechanics. Unfortunately, some of that complexity is inevitably lost in translation. However, Horrors of the Deep Fog also adds in a lot of new unique items related to The Fog, and I didn’t want to lose them in the process. I tried to make these items harvestable, but they simply didn’t fit in with HotC’s mechanics (or they might appear on any animal). So Fog Materials and a few other unique items are still appearing on the creature the old-fashioned way. Not ideal, but the best solution I could come up with, with my limited knowledge. Regular legendary items and BOS blood samples will also still appear vanilla style.

Meat
When using HotC, the amount of meat you’ll get depends on the size of the animal. I’ve tried to bring all new species more or less in line with the vanilla creatures and make sure the amount of meat you’ll get is reasonable. That said, in HotC’s MCM menu, you can change the amount very easily.

Hides
MM differentiates between ‘poor’, ‘good’ and ‘perfect’ hides. This is no longer the case. You’ll simply get the appropriate hide of the animal you’ve skinned without any further qualification. Animals without some kind of hide or pelt or carapace cannot be skinned.

Harvest
All random junk items, caps, weapons and armor have been removed from the lists. You will no longer harvest these. That’s mostly a personal decision on my end. Finding a chainsaw and a metal bucket in a rabbit seriously breaks my immersion as a hunter. To compensate for that loss, chances of harvesting animal parts (like organs, horns, blood, hearts, mucus, et cetera) and other unique items have been increased. I believe this makes roleplaying as a hunter more rewarding and fits a more survival orientated playstyle.

Exceptions & oddities
  • Butchering both Sealurks and regular Mirelurks will get you Mirelurk meat. To get their cool new carapaces and some yummy crustacean meat, you’ll need to harvest them. I came up with this solution because Sealurks and Mirelurks share the same race and I couldn’t figure out how to differentiate between them. But I still wanted to keep both Mirelurk meat and crustacean meat in the game, since some recipes depend on them.
  • Behemoths are left unchanged, since they aren’t touched by HotC.
  • Mirelurk hatchlings and spawns were also left untouched. For some reason, they share the Radroach race, and most likely will give you Radroach meat when butchered. I suggest harvesting them vanilla style.
Load order, compatibility & ESL
This patch is an ESL-flagged ESP. In Vortex, you can set it as ESL in the plugins list if you like. Of course this patch should be placed below (after) both HotC and MM: Horrors of the Deep Fog. It should also be loaded after other mods that change the Mirelurk death item leveled list. It will only directly conflict with other patches made for Hunter of the Commonwealth, unless the patches are patched. But I've not seen any other patches yet.
