1/17/22: Archived the SOTS, DO, Badlands 2, Atomic World version as it does not seem to work 100% of the time. No longer available. 10/30/21: Added SoTS and Atomic World as an option. 10/29/21: Initial release.
what exactly were the issues with the release that combined with SOTS, DO, BL2 & AW? could you try regenerating the LOD for those mods and uploading a fixed version, or have you already tried that and ran into the same problems as before?
thank you for your LOD files btw they've saved me a lot of time and disk space ^_^
Distant landscape coloration to match the foreground could not be maintained consistently; even quitting the game and reloading could cause the coloration to switch in the same dang playthrough! Multiple passes through xLOD attempted. No real solution. Someone with more know how than I suggested that my hypothesis was correct - the more distant objects and landscape you push into the LOD file, the less likely the game engine is to render them consistently across game sessions. The game simply can't handle it. Something would stop working, and in this case that something was the distant landscape being dark instead of light.
My own LOD for DO+Badlands 2 is light. Same method for the various LOD I made. Just too much being packed into an LOD file. Varies by system, load order, .ini settings. Hard to judge where to meet the demand and where people take their modlist.
should I use the sots, do, bld2 lod or the atomic, do, bld2 lod? I have both sots and atomic world installed. I assume I should use the sots version since the structures are bigger and would result in more a noticeable pop in then atomic world since it only consists of relatively small to medium commonwealth locations.
Can only use one LOD file in any setup, so if you have SoTS and Atomic, use that one. Big ol structure pop-in should reasonably go away, though that means distant structures may look like cubes depending on your gear. F4 is a whole lot different than Skyrim, that's for sure.
I try this with the latest version of desperados and PRP. I place the LOD at the last of my loadorder. It's good ? I have multiple mods on diamond city and goodneighboors after PRP, it's compatible ?
Thanks a lot for your mods.
My Loadorder is : prp.esm Desparados Truegrass Badlands Grass Badlands roads SOTS .... other mods PRP Desperados patch PRP Patch PRP SOTS ... other mods LOD Bashed
Is this compatible with the other south of the sea version, the newer one,South of the Sea - Atoms Storm?Or are the structures and buildings and landscapes in that version different? Like the LOD wouldn't line up with the actual stuff in the distant, like when you get closer.
No idea. IF they didn't add or remove buildings or other large structures, it 'should' work. If they did remove something, it will appear as a distant object and vanish as you get closer. Vice versa if they added buildings.
There isn't one for that combination. If you don't want to use Badlands 2 as well, either one of these:
If you choose SoTS and DO, you will get proper landscape LOD, but Atomic World's building may pop in or appear as blocks at a distance. If you choose SoTS and AW, you won't have AW buildings pop in, but the distant landscape will appear a different color at a distance. It will be noticeable as you move because even the the rocks will switch colors. AW buildings popping in isn't as bad imo, but you do you.
You don't need the grass plugin, but it does add nice stuff. Do try the landscape textures though. Solves some of the straight lines that appear with DO. Plus you can use one of the main LOD's here without weird effects.
I didn't know that grass plugin is not hard requirement. I play with adding "iMingrass=90" Fallout4.ini to reduce most of the grass and use No Ugly Plant And More so I thought there is no point installing foliage mod.
EDIT: I downloaded all 4 mods and your LOD but Am I doing it right??? color of distant mountain seem like a vanilla one.
The BL grass plugins do help cover additional weird Bethesda texture lines, but totally unnecessary. Make sure you have these mods loaded last of all. I do use the grass plugins, so my preferred load order:
True Grass DO loads fourth to last Badlands 2 grass plugin loads third to last Badlands 2 landscape loads second to last myLOD file loads last of all mods.
This ensures DO doesn't have tree pop-in, that BL2 loads its cool textures, and then myLOD makes the distant landscape exactly like the local. LOOT et al will absolutely try to put these mods somewhere else. Don't let it.
It worked in my first test just now then didn't in my second after I reloaded the game knowing how LOD can switch off for no good reason whatsoever. I have archived that version and noted it is no longer available. LOD always seem easy to make, but LOD is trickier than it looks, and files that only work sometimes aren't going to be maintained.
I'd suggest using the version that works for which you want - SoTS or Atomic World. Basically, do you want to see SoTS few buildings from a distance or do you want to see the massive # of AW buildings from a distance?
I'd roll back to before you added BL2 to your character, remove BL2, and see what it does with the prior file. At this point you shouldn't use any save games where you added or switched LOD files. Delete those.
I deleted and started a NewGame with your Desperado Overhaul and SoTS LOD, it is currently working perfectly. BADLAND2 gives me a good FNV vibe but it is troublesome getting it work so i'm gonna pass.
I've been told that making it esl flagged works. I've made a few esl flagged mod files for other things because I know they work either way, but having seen Desperados Overhaul cull like a madman on occasion with certain other esl flagged mods (not LOD), I never cared to try. lol
Give it a go. Do some testing (only) around where many of the LOD-based mods meet from a distance. If it goes to s#*!, roll back and Bob's your uncle.
Meaning SoTS and my LOD .ba2 files merged? I wouldn't do it myself. You could extract the .ba2 for the LOD, then dump the two folders there into the /data folder, dropping the LOD.esp entirely. Or you could add the two folders from the LOD .ba2 into the .ba2 of the SoTS mod; the myLOD.esp wouldn't be needed then as its only function is to tell the game to look at the meshes and textures in the .ba2. The .esp doesn't even have any items in it - just a blank for the game to look for .ba2 of the same name.
Not particularly difficult if you wanted to do it, just getting the SoTS .ba2 back into order afterwards. The first one is easier than the 2nd, but either way you'd need to open those .ba2 files.
I won't take other people's mods, modify their original files, then post them again on the Nexus for others. Those others can do it themselves though on their own machine.

I wonder if that method would work here somehow?

guess i gonna disable AW and download your DO and SoTS combo.

I'll use DO-BL2-SoTS then. that looks promising.
thank you so much for everything.

thank you kindly MisterKen.
Good luck out there, but remember also that 210 years from now some rando vault dweller will come across your bones baking under the midday sun.

Can we have SOTS and Atomic World combined without Badlands or Desperados? thank you!
