mod no longer works on NG version of the game. It simply wont load when i do COC qasmoke and I did give it a good 5 minutes wait. the game simply freeze forever with this mod enabled.
does this work with Chapter 3 of SS2? also do i need your merged children mod that mod requires certain files that also require AWKCR that i will NOT download. any other mod that lets the children use the base game objects?
I am not working on mods for Fallout 4 anymore. I expect this mod will work with chapter 3 but don't know.
My Merged Child Mods With Extras has an optional download so that AWKCR is not needed. You download the Child Outfits Vanilla and Conversions Standalone mod and then replace the file in it with the file in my optional download file.
Strictly speaking this mod does not have a requirement besides Sim Settlements 2. However children will not come to you settlement to become a settler without a mod to make that possible. I listed several mods in this mods description page which will do that. I would recommend my mod Merged Child Mods with Extras which uses some of the other child mods. Not only will you then get a variety children in your settlements but children will also be able to use the base game game objects as I also describe in this mods description page.
That is fine, I was thinking more of like, whatever the boy is called at Nordhagen who would not use any plot or that girl who always says "still grounded" from that side quest to relocate that family in the cave.
The best way to deal with those not-settler kids is to just scrap them (Place Anywhere allows it, not sure on vanilla) then replace them with a different kid. Either spawn one in or use recycleactor on an adult til they look right.
I am hoping this works because I hate seeing settlers just standing around doing nothing, both adults and kids - worse still is that the adults sometimes don't stay with the job assigned to them and switch, same goes to assigned beds - I create a home for a family - father, mother and child - I use the beds and assign them to each in the hopes that they will all live there - I leave the settlement to do a quest and come back later, I find that sometimes they have unassigned themselves - the settler that was a guard and I had kitted out with full armor is now a farmer pulling weeds from the garden - (???) - the family home might have one member living there, the kids are big on unassigning themselves from kids beds, (???) and sometimes some other settler is now moved into and taken over one of the beds (???) - Eish - even Sims stay in the beds assigned to them but Fallout 4 is turning me grey with frustration
Sorry to hear about your problems but does not look like anything to do with this mod. This mod is too simple of a change to cause any of those problem.
PC (only, sorry) solution from Radym on SS2 forums:
Put the following in a plain text file
setpv bCommandable 1 setpv bAllowMove 1 setpv bAllowCaravan 1 addkeyword WorkshopAllowCommand addkeyword WorkshopAllowMove addkeyword WorkshopAllowCaravan Save the file in your main Fallout 4 directory - the same folder where the Fallout4.exe is - and call it something like "childlabor.txt"
In game, open the console while facing the kid, then click on the kid, like ferinstance the little statue at Nordhagen who won't do anything. Make sure you have the right NPC selected.
Type in the console bat childlabor Kid will be commandable like a normal settler now. Assign him to something. Turns out the Nordhagen kid's a genius so I assigned him to municipal power.
Meanwhile, use this mod here so that the kids will actually interact with more of the animation markers and objects around the settlement, instead of just playing "statue."
Sadly this does not seem to be working for me. Tried it on each of the two kids that have shown up to Sanctuary. I open console commands, target them, run the bat command. then close console, go into the build menu and click on them to assign them to a plot. The plot then pops up a window asking if I want to change the chosen build or refresh the plot, the kid runs up to the plot stands there briefly then leaves, all the while I still have the options to "Assign" or "Cancel" showing and the plot stays unassigned and the kids still have nothing to do. I don't remember having any issues assigning kids with SS1. So very frustrating =/ ~MWT
Update: I saved then exited to desktop, then started the game and loaded my save and it appears that it may be working now. Will update again after confirming that they are indeed working their plots as assigned.
Update TWO: Seems to be all good now... Thanks for sharing this fix ;)
Rather than exit and relaunch the game, after using the "setpv bCommandable=1" and similar console commands you can fast travel to the other side of the map and back for the changes to take effect.
This is per https://fallout.fandom.com/wiki/Fallout_4_console_commands#Settlers and has worked well for me when I use those commands.
Check the Child Can Use mostly but for a few of the items also remove the FurnitureScaleActorToOne keyword. In general that keyword was a clue to not change the Child Can Use but I found with some it did not really matter if the actor was a different height from normal. An example of this is the SearchStanding marker. Are several beds I removed this keyword from. The only negative side effect I know is if you have super mutant settlers using the bed because makes them hang off the edges.
Another step was to add all the items now usable by a child to the FormID List kgSIM_ChildSupportedFurniture. In Sim Settlements 1 this was used by the script code to assign items on the plot the child owns as owner of the items. In general this was not a needed step but I found one place in the code dealing with the settlements bell which would unassign a settler from a plot that it did not own anything on the plot. I could have missed other uses of the formid list in the scripts. Various people reported children getting unassigned from plots before I made the change and possibly after but it never happened for me even before I made the change. I have not investigated how Sim Settlements 2 uses this FormID List but it still exists in the .esm. I don't know much about FormId Lists but this could cause conflicts with other Sim Settlements 2 mods.
In Sim Settlements 1 I had to do a little more to make children assignable to non agricultural plots.
I did use discord and I am in the SimSettlements discord.

Making the update RN. I put [x] Child Can Use on floor beds and markers where the NPC just stands.
Is it safe to put it on adult beds? I suspect not, child beds are not as high as adult beds. What about chairs? I can't remember seeing child chairs, but there is a height here.
What about things like "NPC leans on wall"? I *suspect* it would be safe to remove the "FurnitureScaleActorToOne" and add the child flag on them, but, do you know more?
I found it fine to put children usable on adult beds and remove the scale to 1. The child lays on the top so the smaller size of a child does not matter. Yes, I also changed the NPC leans on wall in the same way. I have not tested chairs for a while but have not made them child usable. From what I remember it did not look good if not scaled to 1 so left them adult only.
I've never met this Sim Settlements chick and I certainly never had sex with her. And if she thinks she is entitled to get part of my paycheck, she's going to need a DNA test and a court order before I...
Oh, wait. That's not what this is about, is it? Never mind.

Fairly certain it won't work on the top bunk bed, though. It has a height requirement.
I'll also ask KG about that formlist business.
Edit: KG responded, this formlist is obsolete.
