Explosives in Fallout 4 are pretty bland and all of them behave in the exact same ways: grenades shares the same throwing range, weight and immediately release all their payload potential (with the only exception for Molotov), same goes for mines which in the end leads to the conclusion that the best explosives are the Nuke ones due to their higher firepower. This seems a bit too simplistic for me, while it's true that the more damage the better, there should be other factors to take in consideration while choosing which ordnance you should craft and use in certain conditions.

This mod add a new set of custom made explosives, craftable at the chem workbench, complete with new meshes and textures and each one with their pros and cons, specifically:

  • Acid Grenades: Good for melting enemies in to a gooey pile and blanketing an area with hazardous material, they're especially effective indoors but they require a fair amount of acid to craft.

  • Fusion Cell Grenades: Cheap, lightweight and cost effective grenades to produce, their range is a bit longer than standard Frag Grenades albeit with a much smaller magnitude and blast radius, fairly useful in early stage or against weaker enemies when you don't feel like wasting more powerful grenades.

  • Fusion Core Grenades: the REAL DEAL! this jury-rigged Fusion Core will create a massive explosion with a much larger blast radius and magnitude than a "regular" Nuke Grenade, the throwing range however is shorter due to their weight, so mind where you throw them, especially since they have been flagged as "ignore LOS check" so you won't survive the explosion if you seek shelter behing a plywood or a pile of debris.

  • Incendiary Grenades:  Pretty self-explanatory these grenades will burn more intensely and for a longer period than standard Molotov Cocktail Grenades.

  • Stick Grenades: Moderately cheap to produce grenades with a slightly lower damage and blast radius than a standard Frag Grenade but with a much longer throwing range thanks to their wood handle.

  • Bundle Grenade/Demolition Charge: Good for tackling even the most resilient of enemies, the wood handle allows them to be thrown at longer distances than Fusion Core Grenades, however they requires a total of 7 Stick Grenades to be crafted and weight quite a bit and, as for the Fusion Core Grenades, covering behind a wooden fence won't help you.

  • Robot Signal Scrambler Grenade: Hi-tech grenades which will turn any ( even allied ) robots into frenzied killing machines, they requires a deep knowledge of robotics and quite a bit of material to craft though.

  • Claymore Mines: Extremely good for taking care of even the most dangerous of enemies, or for creating chokepoints and torn apart multiple hostiles. Upon detonation they release a volley of 120 shrapnels in a 30° angle, especially effective in narrower places such as walkways and corridors.

  • Vortex: Download as usual and follow the instructions provided

  • Manual: Extract the content into the Data folder and activate Explosives Expanded.esp

  • Due to an engine limitation the maximum amount of "Active Projectile" which can be drawn at the same time is 15, that being said it is obvious that claymore mines become useless in this circumstances. The fix for this problem is to download the Game Configuration Menu by Zzyxzz and it will increase the number of maximum projectile to 256 ( you can tweak the value to your liking ).

  • While not technically a bug I feel obliged to report that, due to high number of projectiles spawned with each claymore ( if you applied the fix above ), you could experience some serious lag spikes up to CTD's if you go crazy about and begin to deploy too many of them.
