Have you ever wondered why no crafty wastelander ever pulled apart an Assaultron and turned the parts into armor? Well now you can do it yourself! With this mod, whenever you loot a dead Assaultron, you’ll have a 75% chance of salvaging a piece of its armor.

This mod adds a full-featured array of Assaultron Armor to the game. We’re not talking just one set of armor here. You’ll find light, medium, and heavy chestpieces, armguards, and greaves that you can put together into matched or mismatched sets. They’re not just for the ladies, either! These pieces all fit both males and females. You can’t craft them from scratch, but take them to the armor workbench and you can upgrade them to heavier versions, add linings and add-ons, and paint them any of 16 colors (requires the Automatron DLC).

The stats on these pieces aren’t heavily inflated. You’ll find them just slightly more powerful than the robot armor in the Automatron DLC, so as to be totally lore-friendly and balanced. By the way, you should NOT need any DLCs to use this mod. All of the essential components here are direct modifications of base game assets.

REQUIREMENTS:

- Non-vanilla sorting options require AWKCR v3.1.0 or higher.
- CBBE (the default body base is CBBE Curvy) or Bodyslide (to reshape the armor to vanilla or another body base).
- Multi-colored paint options require the Automatron DLC.

INSTRUCTIONS:

For a first installation:  Download with Nexus Mod Manager or Vortex. Install and enable, choosing your preferred plugin type, DLC option, sorting option, and greaves style in the FOMOD. If you want to change a choice in the FOMOD, exit out and start over. The back function apparently doesn't work properly.  Overwrite other mods if prompted.

If upgrading from a previous version:  It's likely that any Assaultron Armor you have already acquired will vanish from your game. Remove and store any upgrades and mods from existing Assaultron Armor at an armor workbench, then save and exit. Uninstall and delete the previous mod version, then install the new version as instructed above. Load your saved game, and check whether your Assaultron Armor has disappeared. If so, follow the instructions below to reconstitute it.

To immediately test the new armors, or if you just can’t wait to find them on dead Assaultrons, or if you've lost armor pieces when upgrading, use the console to add Assaultron Armor directly to your inventory. Hit the tilde key (~), type ‘Help “Graf A” 4’ (with the double quotes, but not the single quotes), or if you've installed the vanilla sorting option, 'Help "Assaultron" 4', and hit enter. A list of Assaultron Armor pieces will appear. Type ‘player.additem FormID, X’, where ‘FormID’ is the 8-digit number of the desired object and ‘X’ is the desired quantity, and hit enter again. Voila! It’s in your inventory.

COMPATIBILITY:

Though this mod doesn't require any DLC, it is compatible with all of them. Some options do require Automatron, but some do not.

Some options require AWKCR 3.1 or newer to make sorting work properly with VIS and DEF_UI. (I haven’t tested them with VIS-G or the other alternatives, so can’t say whether they work or not.) However, a non-AWKCR vanilla sorting option is also available.

You will also need CBBE and/or Bodyslide. The female armors are currently built to CBBE Curvy, and I’ve included Bodyslide files allowing you to build them to your own favorite preset. If you don't have CBBE, you can still use Bodyslide’s “CBBE Vanilla” preset to build them to the vanilla female body. There are no body parts included in the meshes, so there shouldn’t be any CBBE/Vanilla UV map conflicts. The male armors are simply built to the vanilla male body.

There are no textures here. That makes for a smaller download, and means that any texture replacer you have loaded (including Bethesda’s hi-res textures) may alter the textures on your Assaultron Armor. I recommend Assaultron HD for a high-resolution experience. There is a screenshot in the Images tab that illustrates Assaultron HD textures.

For the most part, this mod adds new items without changing any existing ones. It does alter the vanilla ‘LLD Assaultron’ leveled list, which controls what loot you find on almost any Assaultron. If you have another mod that alters that leveled list, you may need to resolve the conflict with Vortex.

SUPPORT:

I created all of the meshes and Bodyslide files here by hand from Bethesda’s vanilla meshes. Inevitably, it seems, I make errors. If you find bugs, please post them at the Bugs tab.

This armor will clip with some outfits.  Please don’t bother reporting it.

THANKS:

- To Bethesda for another magnificent game.
- To Caliente and Ousnius for Outfit Studio, and to the developers of Blender and NifSkope. These three tools enabled me to take vanilla meshes and modify them into what you see here.
- To jonwd7 for the B.A.E. - Bethesda Archive Extractor that opened up Bethesda's files for me.
- To Wenderer for his FOMOD Creation Tool, used to create the FOMOD installer.
- To Koozebane for Loving Curing, and to davethedrunk for Dave’s Poses, which I used for screenshots.

PERMISSIONS:

You may never sell any of my assets, however modified, ever. You may not republish or reuse any of my assets in another mod without permission. PM me for permission. If I don't respond within 30 days, then you may assume that I approve.

ALTERNATIVES:

As usual, I'm not the first one to have a go at this sort of thing. In particular, theenco’s Assaultron Armor -CBBE- also turns Assaultron parts into armor. I almost didn’t make this mod because I didn’t want to reproduce his work, but in the end I decided to just do it a bit differently.

Please also check out my other mods, available here. You can see glimpses of some of my Classy Chassis outfits in the screenshots.
