You need to make use of the extra polygons. You will hardly notice difference with existing faces. But I must agree that the vanilla polygons already look decent.
I've now started a new game and haven't modified Heather with new hair. The Seamless Patch you created now works, but Heather gets a brown face when using it. Do you still have an idea? Here are the pictures, 1=without patch and 2=with patch. The patch you provided is called llamaCompanionHeatherv2-HipolySeamless-v2.rar
Sorry for the dark images, it was just nighttime in the game. But you can still see the brown face quite clearly.
Brown face bug happens due to face texture size/format mismatch (among other things), so make sure you use the correct texture sizes (i.e. 2k textures if you have a full 2k face texture mod or 1k if you use vanilla). You can read more here; https://www.nexusmods.com/fallout4/articles/4121
Sorry for posting in the wrong thread. The reason was that the HFR works well and the brown face only occurs when I use the seamless patch for Heather. So I assumed it could be the patch.
We both wrote about the patch a few times, but unfortunately I can no longer find our thread about it. Maybe it was deleted.
I remember you, I shared the Heather patch with you back then. You were running into some strange issue where the patch didn't work correctly, likely because changes were made to Heather through SLM. Your comments are still there in the HFR comments section, 2nd page.
The patch is unlikely the issue here, it doesn't contain any textures to be able to cause a mismatch. You will need to look through the installed face textures (including standalone ones included with the Heather mod). If you don't want to deal with mismatches, it's best to stay with 1K face textures for everything. Also, consider reading my old comments to you, I mentioned other methods/workarounds that you may find useful.
Not sure why, but when I used this, the moment I tried to change my face to another preset the entire face turned invisible and it was just a set of floating eyes and teeth. Switched to the girl and did the same thing.
Figured it was this because it wasn't the whole head, it was just the face and you saw everything else but that, disabled the mod and it went just fine afterward.
Is an improvement though if I can figure that one out.
Edit: Wait, I forgot to install the "LooksMenu". Will try that, it might be why. Edit again: Nope, still turns into a horror movie when I change the preset.
It sounds like your game cannot find the new meshes for some reason. Try reinstalling the mod (and manually verify if the files are where they are supposed to be).
When I first loaded it, the first person's face showed up perfectly. It was when I decided to rotate the presets that the faces disappeared. Did it for both the male and female faces.
And they wouldn't come back when I got back to the original. So, so long as I didn't fully change from preset #1 it showed up fine.
That's because, when you load it first, hipoly face is not active (you are seeing the vanilla face mesh). Hipoly face becomes active when you switch presets and remains active afterwards (this is why the face doesn't restore, even when you switch back to the original preset).
That's why, check if the files are installed correctly.
I'm having the same issue. But I also have presets installed that include HiPoly as a requirement. When I change the vanilla preset, I get the empty faces w/ floating mouth and eyes. However, when I load the outsourced presets, they seem to load properly w/ high poly count. So I checked the files as you suggested, and Vortex seems to have installed it incorrectly. I don't know how the other presets load fine, though...confused about that. But I'll do it manually and see if that fixes it for the rest.
EDIT:
Worked. Reinstalling the esp and meshes fixed it. I was using the esl version before to overwrite the esp, so that may have had an effect. Leaving it as an esp for now.
As for the presets that were working, the mod uploader (of the presets) was incorrect in writing that HiPoly was a hard requirement for their faces, seeing as the line "HiPolyFaces.esp|000801" was missing from all of their files (but they're good enough that I didn't notice the difference right away, lol).
I'm having the same issue. I feel like it has to do with Mod Organizer 2
EDIT: So I just came back to fallout 4 + modding. And of course, I hadn't setup the .ini yet, so that was 100% the issue.
For anyone using Mod Organizer 2, you have to use the INI Editor within the program (It's the puzzle piece icon) and then go to fallout4custom.ini and add the famous line
I had this issue too but did not know what was causing it, till I saw this Posts comments. I tried almost everything to find out what was the reason for this weird and zombie-like face. I have installed main 1 and optional for males. I then tried the Redux version but then this again. Even with Redux the same problem. Why not Redux? It supports females only (cbbe support first). In MCM settings only CBBE (female) settings but no male (except some companions like Danse).
How did you come to that conclusion? Sure Redux has more features for female characters, but it also has everything this mod has and much more, including full male character support. Only the seamless settings are for female characters only, the 'basic' controls work for both.
You should upgrade to Redux. This mod is old and obsolete.
Hi. Ages ago, you graciously allowed me to use the high poly face assets for my custom follower mod, for which I am deeply grateful.
Over time though, I've noticed a small issue with blockiness in the cheekbone area. When manipulating the cheekbones on the character, the shape remains sharp & angular like the lower poly vanilla heads despite the increase in poly count, rather than smooth like other areas such as the nose, chin & ears.
If Looksmenu retained the face sculpt brushes like Racemenu, this would be a non-issue.
hi, this mod cause much impact on performance? i am a little worried because my video card only has 8gb of memory and usually because i am using a lot of 4k textures and playing on 1440p those 8gb are always full lol. its a rtx3070ti btw
LOL, your 3070 won't even notice this mod. BTW, higher polygon meshes do not affect video memory usage, but they do require more processing, something your 3070 has ample amounts of.
And please use HiPoly Faces REDUX instead of this, it is far superior. There should be no measurable difference in performance between the two mods.
Sorry, I am new to modding - using this mod with 4K face, does load order matter at all? I have it loaded before 4K face, so not sure if that would be overwriting this mod at all.
I need some help. There is a gap between the forehead and the upper head (you could looking through). The gap is not seen in the looks menu, but if I close the looks menu the gap occurs.
What I am doing wrong? Any advice or solution for this issue?
Not surprising really. This does happen sometimes, as the face meshes are wonky as heck and there is no way to fully control their precision. Anyway, I am not gonna bother touching this mod again as I am just about to release a completely new version of HiPoly Faces. That one will be better, hopefully.

I will wait for the new version hiding the gap with accordingly haircuts
