About half of the incoming settlers won't rename. Renaming's turned on and name protection turned off, and they still say "My name is Settler." I can't reliably reproduce for bug-tracking purposes, and that's frustrating me.
I think I have found the potential cause -- the Settlement Management Terminal! (https://www.nexusmods.com/fallout4/mods/64135)
If I go around and find the settlers first, I can rename them and their names will then appear in the terminal... but if I log into the terminal and scan the settlers, it seems to lock out the rename process for any "Settler"-named people.
Is there a way to bind Forget Name to an Item or a hotkey? A console command would be fine, as well.
I inadvertently renamed Preston but did not realize it for several days. I have something that is conflicting with the regular prompts and I would really like to reset his name if possible.
Dammit. Okay yes. I remember now I only did this trick with the hotkey for the renaming, becauase I only added one helper perk. I'll try not to forget about this and add it eventually...
How about that: in addition to "Rename current NPC", you get a "show menu" where you can pick "forget name" or "generate another name" or whatever else could become necessary?
I didn't see anyone else mention this, so maybe I'm the only one who's experienced it.
When I name a settler using the hotkey (the prompt doesn't show up), from that point on I can't scan them with the Vit-O-Matic. If I try to manually target and blast them, they go hostile (and Cait puts them down quickly. I love Cait).
I had it at the bottom of my LO, just above the settlement management terminal. Then I moved it above SS2.
Works great! I found that if you dislike the autogenerated name, or if you don't think it suits the settler's looks, just QUICKSAVE before using the interaction and then QUICKLOAD until you get a name you like.
I'm retiring this mod for "Rename Anything" since I prefer to pick the settler names myself, but I still appreciate your work!!
Such a good, simple mod. I have a suggestion: if you have time, can you make settlers' names appear when using the Settlement Management Software? Like instead of each settler (aside from pre-named NPCs) being listed as "Settler" they're each listed with their generated names? Please disregard if this isn't possible, thanks for the mod!
Hi Pra, In my own mod I'm using that line: <Alias.CurrentName=mod_quest_alias> in a messagebox, but it is only returning the names of named NPCs, settlers that are renamed by your mod are just returning 'Settler'. Of course: mod_quest_alias.GetReference().GetDisplayName() returns the new name given by your mod, but I know of no way to get a string into a messagebox alias:)

Oh, and 000b0eee (the radioman) refuses to rename, too.

Any idea what could be causing the issue?
