Q: If my screen resolution is 1080p or 720p do I still need a 4K texture?
A: The Screen resolution is not the same as texture resolution. The resolution for the texture is independent and is not affected by screen resolution. So... You can have a CRT screen with 800x600 and a 4K texture would still be better and sharper than a 2K texture.
Q: Can this mod cause bugs?
A: No Textures can't cause bugs, the only thing they could cause when properly textured is when your graphic card don't have enough vram and displays purple textures. Now as you see, it's still not caused by my mod but by the user side.
The game is very buggy, but we can't fill my site with bugs that can't be caused by my mod.
My issue is WAY too many stars in the sky they flicker weirdly when i move and they are nearly all the same size and way bigger than normal stars IRL, or what the authors video shows. Now the only thing I could think is the res is low, but Idk how to get it higher.
i got the same issue is there any other way to fix this?
Edit: tried the 1k version still happens but is less notable if i dont move as quickly or turn. It seems whenever i move more stars appear in the sky, like the small stars become brighter.
Stars always flicker in the game, even vanilla stars. Thought it was motion blur, but it's not. Only option is to not use extra stars and deal with the vanilla flicker because the more you have and/or the higher resolution the texture, the more it flickers unfortunately.
It happens with the vanilla textures as well, because the game blurs everything if you move your player character due to the terrible antialiasing solution.
TLDR: This is NOT a mod issue/bug - This is an existing fault of all LCD's in resolution/pixel pitch 'mismatching'. The Fix: Hop on craigslist and get a free CRT Monitor near you. It has better color reproduction, better contrast, and NO ghosting at all anyways.
You can fix this issue by using a CRT monitor. Modern (2017) monitors still have the issue of high pixel pitch(dot pitch for CRTs), where-as professional CRT monitors of the past (Trinitron or rarer Diamondtron's) have crazy good Dot pitch to resolution. I'm currently running a 19" IBM Trinitron monitor I was lucky enough to buy off craigslist a few years ago brand new (unopened from an auctioned foreclosed warehouse). Running off a gtx 970 at 2048×1536 (85 htz) on my CRT with no flicker at all, and when comparing it with my LCD monitor (Asus PG279Q with and without G-Sync), the Asus flickers like crazy running its nominal 2560 x 1440 resolution. Even comparing my CRT at the same widescreen resolution of 2560 x 1440(possible with the help of the old 'reforce' program, now known as 'CRU' resolution fix), the CRT still has 0 flicker.

wangmauler... are these "free" monitors on craigslist a common thing? I think I'll stick to playing F04 on my 55in 4k tv
I think what's happening is there are so many stars on the screen that they sometimes end up in between pixels and wont always appear.. i could be wrong but i'm going to try the 1k out and see what happens
The anti-aliasing you are running is almost certainly causing this issue. I would just test out the different options and see what looks best on your monitor

Just think of it : After WW3 there would be clarity in the skys after it all settled , no satellites , no big city lights , and all the heavens would shine as it was in the 1800s .
