Mod doesn't work. Installed it via Vortex and it asked to overwrite Project Beauty which I let it do. It didn't change anything. Colors are
    still mismatched.

Are any mods esm/esp marked as esm loading below project beauty esm or any other mods that edit vanilla NPC records?

Nope, just Fellout and Darnified UI but they're all esp's, and above Project Beauty it's just the regular DLC esm's.

I went ahead and tried adding bLoadFaceGenHeadEGTFiles=1 to the fallout.ini but it didn't work either.

Edit: I would like to mention that I am playing on a clean save game that I downloaded here on Nexusmods, simply for mod testing. I haven't tried starting a new game yet.

It might be something to do with Archive invalidation not sure though. Also you shouldn't need to add bloadfacegenheadegtfiles to the ini. It should be in fallout.ini or falloutprefs.ini. If it is the pref ini then change to 1 in there and see it works.
It also might be an issue with vortex but I am not sure as I have never used it. Apologies if am not being helpful.

Hmm well I have Archive Invalidation enabled on Vortex, but I read it's kind of buggy. I didn't find bLoadFaceGen in the falloutprefs.ini, only in fallout.ini which is weird. Should I try adding it in prefs maybe? Also it's totally fine, thanks for trying to help! I've just been sitting all day trying to set up my F3 to actually be stabilized so I can play the game. It's driving me crazy lmao. Honestly I might just try starting a new game and see how it goes.

You shouldn't add it to the Prefs ini. If.it was in there it would overwrite the regular ini and couldn't remember if the setting was also in the Prefs in. If it possible I would recommend switching to mod organizer 2. I am not sure it would help but I personally believe it is better to use than vortex.

Ah right. I won't be switching to MO2, but I'm just gonna try starting a new game and see how it goes. Maybe the problem only persists in the aforementioned save file that I downloaded. Alternatively I guess I could try re-installing the mod completely.

Bah, instead of lighter heads I now have both darker heads and Hands to boot. lolz

I know why that is. It's because I'm using a modified type 3 body (slimmer shoulders etc.) which has its own skin tone, tatoo .dds structure.

I already knew Ctrl +F4 method, but if I load multiple masters in the GECK the results are (as Sheogorath would say) C-R-A-Z-Y !!!

Endorsed anyway because what you've done works with the, god awful, vanilla body. But, meh, I'd rather not play at all than use that hand drawn mess!

Thanks for sharing, weegee3798, and also thanks for the time you put in. Very much appreciated.

So do I need to remove PB before I install this, or Just overwrite PB with this? Wont I still need the ini command for my mod companions? Also how can I keep the mis match from happening to them? I'm using RR companion vault, Ultimate Amata, Slave Raider Angel, Bittercup, Myrrin, Alice, and was using Raelyn but she didn't talk and I couldn't fix her hair no matter what I tried... Amata, Angel, and Bittercup all Match skin tones good, but Alice, Myrrin, and Raelyn have pretty noticeable hand and head lighter than their body syndrome... I've tried a few times to manually change their skin tone in the GECK hoping to wake up bloadfacegenheadEGTfiles=1 but it never worked for them. The RR CV residents also had crazy skintone issues but after the last cell reset somehow they seem fixed. I just have to fix all their hair color now, I don't like the bright red, green, and yellow hair... I'd delete Myrrin and Alice for their mis matched skin tone eyesore but Myrrin carries more than any other follower for some reason and my Happy Katana will disappear if I delete Alice... I don't want to lose my dart gun shooting pack brahmin or my sword even if I CANT STOP looking at their neck and wrists... Any advice? I've been all over google and the nexus looking for a fix for them and cant find any help. Thanks and Auto Kudos for this!

Hi you don't need to remove Project Beauty. To ensure a character skin matchs the mod the plugin needs to be an esm or an esp flagged as an esp. You need FO3edit to do this and in case you don't how to do this I wrote a guide here for FNVedit but it should be same for FO3edit. After that you can put bloadfacegenheadEGTfiles=1 in your ini or generate facegen for the mods yourself. A guide for generating can be found here but download the geck extender for FO3 and I normally use Export NPC Face Textures though I don't recommend using that option for FO3 as it will regenerate all facegen for every NPC from every plugin load in the GECK. If you still having issues either I have wrote something wrong here or there might be an issue with the mod you are generating facegen for mod.

Thanks! I'll try this, I've had this issue with every Bethesda game at some point. I've always found a fix but its been years and I don't remember the method I used to resolve it...  Did you mean .esp flagged as an .esm? Anyhow I'll see If I can make my load order work with this method and thanks for the advice.

As you probably didn't read above I have already done all this except get GECK extender working... (wont recognize GECK version) Myrrin is already flagged as an .esm, bloadfacegenheadEGTfiles=1 is already in the ini without even needing to add it, and Ctrl F4 in GECK says It works but in game nothing happens... Male and newly generated female npc's never have the mismatch problem, only newly added mod followers and not all of them for some reason.  After the last cell reset only my 2 child followers still have this problem. Ctrl F4 in Geck and manually changing their skintone has no effect as to removing the darker body issue. Unloading and reloading the mod changes nothing. Turning bloadfacegenheadEGTfiles=1 off and on wont reset them. Changing and making sure they have a matching head, hands, and body texture pack only seems to change the level of makeup they have but the seams are still there... Setting bFixFaceNormals=0 to 1 made everyone raceless as far as skintone (made Sheriff Sims a white dude)but removed the seam, setting it back to 0 gave everyone their skin color back but the seam comes back as well. Only Myrrin and Alice still have this problem but none of the methods that fixed everyone else works on them. I'd delete them for being eyesores but Myrrin carries more loot than anyone, and Alice has an added Katana I don't want to lose as you have to either kill the samurai or make sure he dies if you want one. I don't murder or thieve even in games, all my game characters would have beaming halos like in Fable 2 if they could. Any other Ideas? All I can think of is starting a new game and see if that doesn't reset them. But I wanted to be done playtesting mods before I did that.

Hi the GECK extender isn't recognizing the GECK then you might need to download the update from here. Also you might want to try the export NPC textures option though this will take longer.

If the facegen seems to generate correctly then it may just be an issue with the mod possibly if it is using a custom race for characters or maybe if the characters are wearing custom armor as one mod I had download would make a characters skin tone turn white while the face remained unchanged and when the armor taken off the NPC the skin went back to normal.

Also if just in case you experience this if a character skin does match face but there still seams that is just be an issue with game. Also if you planning on generating facegen then set bloadfacegenEGTfiles to 0 and do not turn it back on.

I did mean to write flagged as esm and mod must remain flagged when playing for the facegen to work.

Thanks for the info! How do I export NPC textures for the two npc's giving me trouble, or at all? Also I had a clothing mod that caused a white body issue I have since removed and the armor Myrrin and Alice are wearing now has no effect on their skin tone.(Cute Corrosion Security Dress) Its not an extreme Skin tone difference, just noticeable... Anyhow I'm sure it might correct itself on starting a new game as that's how I fixed it in Skyrim wich had the same issue only worse. Thanks for the support and have fun and be safe.

I wonder if this would help with the esp file bug. When you have npc added to an esp file, you get mismatched body and head. Sometimes arms too. Flag the esp file to an esm and the issue goes away. Ever heard of that one?

    Thanks for sharing this.

Hi from what I understand esp files can't load facegen unless flagged as an esm. I haven't generated facegen for the point lookout or broken steal esps due to this though I did consider it. I currently don't plan on generating anymore facegen for Fallout 3 as even with the GECK extender the GECK still regenerates the facegen from Fallout 3 esm and that might cause issues with my laptop.

Sorry that this is probably a stupid question, but how do you use these texture files? The file structure is different from Redesigned's and vanilla's, so nothing is being overwritten.

Edit: Okay, so I see Redesigned has a section on an alternate fix for the tone mismatch. So from what I gather, Redesigned will automatically use these textures when applicable, or some such.

Hi sorry for not replying earlier but you're right as redesigned should just use these textures automatically or something like that.

Sorry to ask such an ignorant question, but aside from alleviating you from adding an entry in your INI files how would you describe the benefit of including facegen data?  Just curious, thank you.

No more mismatched face to body colors like an NPC that's supposed to have a dark complexion having a white face instead of it matching the rest of their body.
      .
      .
Previously the workaround for that mismatch was through activating that setting in the INI file. While the workaround proved its effectiveness it introduced a drop in performance that is quite noticeable on lower end systems and heavily modded setups. With this mod now including facegen data, you can enjoy that consistency without sacrificing performance. Also you're saving yourself from being pulled out of the moment when you're strolling around the Capital Wasteland and then you see a naked NPC with a white face on a brown body.

Sorry I should have included this in the description but bloadfacegenheadegtfiles=1 is performance heavy setting as it forces the game to regenerate facegen for every NPC in the game whilst having facegen already generated should prevent the need for this and I believe it is better for performance. It should also prevent the white face bug however it may still occur due other issues such as incorrect flags on NPCs like can be all races.

I might be wrong with some of the details.

To add onto the question, as someone with extensive experience of using F3Edit ro make my own PB patch with both MM and FOOK2 (the one oit there doesn't cover half of the NPCs), and as someone who also just heard about bloadfacegenheadegtfiles for the fist time:

      1. What is facegen exactly? I take it it is not just "face configuration" data, the one at the bottom of an NPC's entry in F3Edit, as adding new/edited instances of such data is the main point of PB.
      2. Does enabling  bloadfacegenheadegtfiles=1 change the body tone to match the face, or change the face tone to match the body?

Thanks to both you and djungelskog00 for the explanation.  A performance improvement in this game is always a huge benefit.

      I appreciate the mod!

From what I understand facegen is related to or is the face configuration data at bottom of NPCs records in FO3Edit but the GECK uses that data to create texture files.

Also bloadfacegenheadegtfiles=1 changes the face to match the body.

I might be wrong be about some of this.
