To add the esm flag to an esp first you will need FNVEdit.

Launch FNVEdit and select the plugin you wish the add the esm flag to (Dummy esp.esp as the example) as shown below.

Click on the esp you wish to add the esm flag to click on file header and on the right side of FNVedit right click on the empty box beside record flag and click edit as shown below

After clicking edit a box should open with a list of option just click the box next to esm to add the flag and press ok.

After that close fnvedit and save changes and your esp file should know be flagged as a master.

A couple things I should note:
  • This might break mods. I have comment telling me that NVB1 quest broke when adding flag however when I quickly checked for myself it seemed to be working fine as I was able to start quest and get to the bounty where you search around the highway north of the Mojave Outpost.
  • I know this guide is badly written and hopefully I will come back later to fix this.
  • I don't currently recommend adding the esm flag to esps as I stated before this might break mods however this is the way I know to get facegen to work for these mods.
  • I use MO2 however the only difference if you are not using MO2 is that you won't run FNVEdit through MO2.

This might sound stupid but I want to do the opposite of this. I cant se how to do that. There are some Mods that are ESP's but have ESM Flags. The result is that those Mods often get overwritten by other Mods and the changes that I want don't occur because of it.

I pretty sure all you would need to do is the same steps in the article but untick the ESM box and save the changes. I don't recommended doing as this might break some features of a mod like Navmeshes.

Nice this is brand new! I'm going to test this for a couple of someguy's misc quest mods like Inheritance and KotR. Not the NV Bounties because I already have the FCO compatibility patches installed. I assume this is kind of what the facegen mod is? Quest patches for better compatibility with character overhauls like FCO?

Also testing for 3DNPC. I didn't realise there was a New Vegas version of that mod, I only know it from Skyrim..
