I stopped supporting this mod a while ago, but I don't mind explaining the process if you want to have both yourself!
1) Go into the FinalAlbion folder (X:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\Fable Anniversary\WellingtonGame\FableData\Build\Data\Levels or wherever your game files are) 2) Find a .tng file with a chest you haven't already opened, search for OBJECT_CHEST_OPENABLE and find ContainerContents[0] "OBJECT_whateveritis"; 3) Then add these two lines below: ContainerContents[1] "OBJECT_HERO_HAT_WIZARD_EVIL"; ContainerContents[2] "OBJECT_HERO_HAT_WIZARD_GOOD";
Thanks, they're such mundane items and meant to complete a set that you can buy in any store, so it always struck me as insanely silly that you couldn't get both.
I mean if they were two distinct Legendary Weapons or something, that would make sense, but it just strikes me as odd and nonsensical that you can't get two simple hats.
There's a lot of odd design choices in Fable, it's in that category in Postal 2 where the game is considerably jank and questionable, but is held together by simply being a fun experience despite being made of good intentions and duct tape. (I mean if I were the game's director I'd never have made it so the game just hands you Avo's Tear, making Theresa's sacrifice completely pointless from both a narrative and gameplay perspective)... I guess that's just the nature of the beast.
I don't blame you for not supporting Redux anymore, when it seems you still support Aeon Edition (at least from time to time). While I feel like the Anniversary Hatred is overblown, it seems like the diehard Fable fanbase rejects Anniversary and purely plays TLC, which is a shame as I find the former far more playable on modern hardware and as much as I love Fable (the first game anyway, it sadly suffers the curse of degrading in quality every entry), but whatever.
But if you ever get the urge to give Redux any kind of update, I'd certainly appreciate it. (I'd also appreciate a Female Hero mod, sadly I can't find one besides the one on Steam Workshop that crashes the game, but.. that's neither here nor there)
I'm actually somewhat close to releasing the final update for Aeon Edition! TLC is just magnitudes easier to mod than Anniversary and less limited with the stuff you can do. To be fair, if Anniversary actually worked properly on my PC, I would give Redux a big final update with some ideas from Aeon Edition and some better balancing tweaks!
I think the community would be less averse to Anni if it'd been easier to mod and restored more cut content, but I don't hate it or anything personally!
It's truly ironic that Lost Chapters is easier to mod, since official modding tools, more content (Which wound up just being DLC.... that for a remaster of a game this old, should just been baseline), and ease of modding were selling points for Anniversary (but let's be honest.. Anniversary was just a failed attempt to keep the lights on at Lionhead, maybe a PC port of 2 would have gone over better)
Fingers crossed Anniversary magically works for you one day, but even if it doesn't, thanks either way. Doing a No Mods run and then doing a Redux run afterwards! I really look forward to it!
Thank you so much, have a great day both in real life and in Albion
Hello. Do you know how the Spouse Gift mechanic works in this game (and how to modify it potentially) ? I am trying to get the marrital achievement, but until now, my wife has not given me any gift ?
You should be getting gifts more frequently in Redux than vanilla - if not, keep your attractiveness high and keep leaving and coming back. As for modifying it yourself, you'd need to set up Fable Explorer and then find CHeroMarriageDef, where you can then edit a bunch of values relating to the marriage mechanic.
I installed this with just a couple other mods(reshade and another to change hero to original look) I'm just getting a black screen. Must've installed the later mods incorrectly
I wouldn't recommend it unless you've played before - it's a lot harder and there's certain things you wouldn't really appreciate if you've never played before. The freeroam means you can cheat by going out of bounds and the NPC weapons almost all have the same name, but apart from that there's no real jankiness.
Any chance you would be willing to create a version of this mod that only contains balance changes, which would be more suitable for a first-time player? I like the aspects of this mod that aim to make different playstyles and in-game activities more viable. I don't mind increased difficulty either. But unfortunately these are currently bundled with non-first-time-friendly changes like freeroam.
No, that's a very big undertaking just to make a neutered version of this mod! Anniversary no longer works properly on my PC, so even if I wanted to, I couldn't.
The best thing I can suggest is just to install the game.bin and script.bin files, and ignore the rest of the mod's files. It won't be the same (and it'll break an optional quest) but it means you won't need freeroam and there'll be no level design changes. Although playing Fable vanilla first would still be a better option - it's a good game.
where exactly are you suppose to be able to sell the npc weapons like the hobbe weapons and the scimitars from the skeletons like every shop iv tried won't accept em, sure it makes the game interesting early/mid but once you've got like 80+ in your inventory you kinda wanna get rid of em and its like they do show a sale price so it just leaves me scratching me head cause the only ones i can sell are stuff like the hobbecaster, hunting knife and the buzzaxe
Snowspire's weapon shop is the only place atm. I don't think any/many shops in Anniversary can actually have their stock modified due to the defs all being linked up wrong. But I'm working on a QoL update, so I'll be looking at this again!
Edit: Checked again and not a single shop can have their stock edited. Causes a control bytes mismatch anytime you try to open a shopdef file. So Snowspire's the only place, sorry!
ahh thought i checked there but guess not, well long as they are sell-able guess that helps
wish there was a way to prevent the summon creature from taking over the one it kills, like would be cool if it would just stay as the base summon creature cause its interesting to use a creature like whisper but she ends up having such an effective AI that the summon changes like instantly
I didn't even think Whisper was summonable! I'll have a look at this if/when I make a QoL update, because I can just rank her higher so lower level creatures don't overwrite her!
yea lot of the hero characters that you fight against can be used as summons, like all the bosses can be used as well but they level down just like whisper when they kill something, the only creatures i've found that has issues with being a summon are the nymphs and trolls, the nymphs CTD when summoned and the trolls just kinda stand there not throwing anything.
also i found some pretty interesting weapons in the objects that seem to work a shovel weapon and a small square hammer along side a 2 handed longsword and a 1 handed greatsword
5706- Shovel - 20 DMG 5741- Hammer Smith - 141 DMG 5731- Warrior Sword Lite - One Handed Greatsword - 40 DMG 5734- Sword Long - Two Handed Longsword - 40 DMG
you can also use pretty much every rival hero weapon other then whisper and mazes staff cause they don't seem to have any attack patterns even the nostro shield and thunders shield are equip-able with an attack pattern though they don't exactly hit any damage they can be used to block with lol
i also was looking for where the ranking is, but it seems like they only included specific creatures in the list and i haven't figured out how to add entry's into the CSummonableCreatureDef table
The only weapon of the 4 you listed that don't work is the Smith's Hammer. It was actually in an earlier version of this mod, before I realised that it doesn't have a proper attack animation! All the defs are screwy in Anniversary, so I doubt you can add any entries (I think I tried before)
weird i put the the smiths hammer into one of the creature drops and it seemed to work just fine i was even beating up enemies with it o.o'
iv been making a ID list of all the usable items noting if any are broken and how, lol its quite an endeavour but at around 375 lines its close to done.
Here's the ID list that i got so far https://pastebin.com/8JdLivAY I've tested a majority of the weapons and tried to categorize everything and link the proper in game name used for them so its less confusing but its not 100% complete, though i think i got everything other then haircuts and tattoos cause those aren't necessarily hard to acquire.
i was looking around for a resource like this for a while and could never find it so i decided to create it myself
Very nice! It's nice to this for Anniversary, considering how much more limited it is modding-wise. Are the damage values from a vanilla game.bin or Redux's? Because if the latter, then the numbers won't be accurate for non-Redux players!
all the item values would be from your redux game.bin i based my modified spell file on it. like for the most part the damage values i got right now in the list seems to match up with the wiki
Alright so I came here to see if any mods have been done for this game since its two decades old and I liked the little overhaul of Fable Anniversary and also enjoyed TLC but now im kinda stuck between which one to mod. Mine are not steam versions on PC, however the Aeon mod worked for Anniversary and it started up and I got a little passed the Wasp Queen. I was tired when modding and mixed up Aeon and Redux to the respective games, but Anniversary is controller ready while TLC is keyboard only (at least I cant get a controller to work for it).
But what im really wanting to know is between the two , which modded version would be the better experience and do you know if TLC would be controller ready if I modded it? Sorry for the drawn out question.
So, Aeon Edition won't fully work with Anniversary - you'd miss out on custom level design changes, more or less all the new content/enemies and it's bound to crash somewhere down the line. I'd say Aeon Edition's better - it's basically Redux but with more features and better balancing, but stick with Redux if the lack of controller support's a dealbreaker. I'm sure something like xpadder or joytokey would work for TLC, but it won't be perfect!
Alright I appreciate the quick reply. Ill go ahead and go the Aeon route. Content far out-weights what input to use since I do both. Just kinda something about the controller for the nostalgia but definitely not a must. I may check out some alternatives to get the controller to work in the near future. Thank you again!
I just cannot seem to get the mod working correctly for TLC. I even tried going Anniversery route and still no luck. Which is weird because as of earlier Aeon MOD works on Anniversry (at least it starts the game up all the way to the wasp menace, havnt gone farther) but Redux will not open the game from new game or any save file during, before or after tutorial/training part of the game. Freeroam works but I even tried intalling the other 3 files and still no luck. Seems every time I add the .bin and .script files it just will not load. Im kinda at a lose since modding games have been pretty simple for me.
Are you trying to apply Redux on TLC? Because that won't work. If I've misunderstood and you mean Redux won't work on Anniversary, all I can suggest is reinstalling everything (including Anniversary itself) and going through every step of the install again.
I played the Aeons mod version for TLC and loved it. You say in the stickied comment that that one is better than this Redux one. What exactly is different between the two? They seem the exact same from the description and images.
Anniversary modding is more limited than TLC, so there's no map design changes (like the Greatwood bridge or the added house clutter), no custom minibosses + weapons (all the NPC weapons are just called Scimitar with no augments or descriptions) and the balancing's a bit rougher. It's still worth a go if you want to replay Anniversary, or if you want to see the improvement firsthand! I like to think of Redux as the proof of concept for Aeon Edition.
Sadly, no. When I made this mod at first, I didn't document enough about the stuff I moved and now my game doesn't work at all, so I can't really make a guide. There's a list of key/doll locations in the comments here and on my discord though!
I have been trying this mod out for a bit, and have gotten to the combat multiplier door. It seems damn near impossible to open it now, all that ever spawns for me is two trolls and a bunch of werewolves, and i can get my multiplier up to 21 but no higher. It is extremely frustrating.
Get a master weapon, stick 3 silver augments in it, go to the Witchwood Stones and one-shot white balverines. You'll get an insane multiplier. Then recall teleport back (you should still keep a decently high multiplier) and attack whatever spawns.
I can try the physical shield then. I really would like to knock it out now, but if I have to wait until I get a master weapon and 3 silver augments then so be it. Thank you.
You can sell them at Snowspire's weapon shop! I wanted to make them sellable in other shops too, but most of the cshopdef entries weren't linked properly in the version of Fable Explorer I was using.

1) Go into the FinalAlbion folder (X:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\Fable Anniversary\WellingtonGame\FableData\Build\Data\Levels or wherever your game files are)
2) Find a .tng file with a chest you haven't already opened, search for OBJECT_CHEST_OPENABLE and find
ContainerContents[0] "OBJECT_whateveritis";
3) Then add these two lines below:

Nyway, I've rambled enough, thanks once again
