FABLE ANNIVERSARY REDUX V1.1 CHANGELOG
A complete overhaul of Fable Anniversary by Alexander The Alright

NOTE: This mod only works in Chicken difficulty. You MUST have Freeroam set up, and you MUST have access to the Modding DLC if you use the umap files.

Freeroam: https://www.nexusmods.com/fableanniversary/mods/25

Installation Instructions

1)Install Freeroam first
2)Make backups of game.bin, script.bin and your FinalAlbion folder, as well as your bones and CookedPC Levels folder if you use the bone and umap files.
3)Place the modified game.bin and script bin into your Development folder.
(X:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\Fable Anniversary\WellingtonGame\FableData\Build\Data\CompiledDefs\Development)
4)Place the modified FinalAlbion folder into your Levels folder, and press yes when it tells you to merge and replace.
(X:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\Fable Anniversary\WellingtonGame\FableData\Build\Data\Levels)
5)(OPTIONAL) Place the umap files into the Unreal Level folder (YOU NEED TO HAVE THE MODDING DLC INSTALLED FOR THIS TO WORK IN-GAME)
(X:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\Fable Anniversary\WellingtonGame\CookedPC\Maps\Levels)
6)(OPTIONAL) Place the hero_strong and hero_berserk files into your Bones folder
(X:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\Fable Anniversary\WellingtonGame\FableData\Build\Data\Bones)
7)Start a new game! Launch the game in MODDED GAME mode if you have the umap files installed or launch it normally if you dont.

General
- There is now only version of game.bin (mainly for my own sake to make patches and bug fixes easier to implement). Ageing is back in, but at a reduced rate. The Max Age in game still shows as 65, but Ive set it to 100 in FE, so your character wont look as old at 65. Horns (without baldness) are also still in the game
- Adrenaline Potions (previously cut content from TLC) are now in the game and can be found in chests and as rare enemy drops. You can carry 5 at a time and they cant be sold. They raise your attack speed by 150% for 30 seconds, and stack with Berserk
- Repeater Crossbows (also cut content) are back in the game, including The Harvester, a cut legendary weapon
- A new expression, Bandit Wave, has been added in the game and can be found in a chest

FAQs

Q: Is this a difficulty mod?
A: Sort of. The game is harder than vanilla and heroic, but to call it a difficulty mod wouldnt be doing it justice. FA: REDUX is a complete rebalance/redesign of the game, which attempts to keep the spirit of Fable the same. I wanted to make it so that all the side stuff you can do is actually important and viable, as opposed to just messing around and killing time like it used to be. I also tried to balance the alignments, so that being evil isnt easy mode anymore.

Q: Is this recommended for beginners/first time players?
A: For people whove played games before but not Fable? Sure. For people whove never really gamed before? No, probably not.

Q: Are enemies and bosses damage sponges now?
A: Nope. While its true that enemies and bosses have buffed health and hit harder, the main increases in difficulty come from the sheer number of enemies you face, the increased prices of useful items and the amount of exp required to max out stats. To balance this out, spells, legendary weapons and augmentations have been reworked so that you start out weaker and end up stronger. Some bosses have also had their spells edited.

Q: Where are the new silver key locations and where are the dolls?
A: Not telling! All Ill say is that some new items may need Freeroam in order to be accessed, but theyre not in such obscure locations that theyre impossible to find.

Q: Why does the Bowerstone Quay chest look funny?
A: No idea. For some reason, the lighting in the barns is weird. Using the lamp fixes it though.

Q: Why doesnt Multi Arrow work for the DLC bows?
A: I think its due to the fact they fire projectiles instead of arrows. Originally this was unintentional, but on reflection, I think it makes up for how OP the bows are.

Q: What happens if I play in Heroic mode?
A: Heroic mode's game and script havent been touched, so youll be playing vanilla Heroic mode, just with the changes to the levels (e.g. the new silver key locations + extra chests). It also means youd be able to hunt for the Hero dolls AND win them at taverns (which in theory means you can complete the quest twice). FA: REDUX will only work as intended on Chicken difficulty. If you want to play vanilla Heroic without the map changes, just swap out my FinalAlbion folder and umap files for your normal version and start a new game.

Q: Will this work on Xbox 360?
A: Nope.

Q: Will this work for TLC?
A: Nope.

Q: Can I still get Steam achievements?
A: Yep! Apart from the Great Balls of Fire achievement, as this mod requires you to play on Chicken difficulty.

Q: What are the optional bncfg files?
A: These are the bone files I use to make my hero look bigger and buffer. Theyre completely optional.

Q: Is this compatible with ____?
A: Probably not. Anything that edits the game.bin and script.bin files or the FinalAlbion folder will not be compatible. Texture/mesh edits should be fine though, as long as you have the Modding DLC.

Q: Im getting crashes/freezes/lag at _____
A: If I cant replicate the crash (for example, some people seem to get a crash when levelling up skills at the Guild), then I cant help you. Overhaul mods can be weird: some people breeze through them with no crashes whatsoever, whereas other people get frequent crashes and have a lot of issues. All I can suggest is uninstalling and reinstalling everything (the base game and REDUX), closing other processes while in-game, or trying different things to work around the issues. Sorry!

Q: Will you be updating this mod?
A: Nope. I know I said this last time, but in terms of content and balancing, Im happy with REDUX. Unless some awfully clever fellow manages to fully update Shadownet (FE) and its compatibility with Anniversary, of course.

Known Bugs and Workarounds

BUG: If you pick up a new weapon, press the wield button when the weapon pops up on the screen, and then try to augment it in the weapons category, the game crashes.
FIX: Dont press wield straight away and augment the weapon before equipping it (I would fix this properly but I have no idea where to start).

BUG: Sometimes certain weapons (I think its just the Minion NPC ones) will disappear after using a spell and youll attack unarmed but with an invisible weapon in your hand.
FIX: Sheathe and unsheathe.

BUG: Sometimes Minion NPC will be sheathed and look weird.
FIX: Unsheathe and sheathe again. The weapon will be sheathed invisibly (like how Crossbows sheathe).

BUG: [RARE] If you pick up your lost belongings from Bargate Prison and the last weapon you used was a Minion NPC one, itll stay sheathed weirdly on your back. If you leave the room with it equipped and then unsheathe it, the game will crash and if you load that save, youll lose all your stuff.
FIX: When you open the chest, change to another weapon (I used weapons that were already in-game for this), leave the room and check that the game doesnt crash. You should then be able to use your Minion weapon again with no problems. Also make sure you have an extra save (for me, it was where I was still in the cell with the key) available, so you dont risk losing your items. Unsheathing and sheathing again without leaving the room may fix this, but I'm not sure.

BUG: Like in v1.0.X, the Lost Bay can sometimes get stuck on an infinite loading screen and freeze. This happens especially when you have a save where youre in the Lost Bay.
FIX: Apart from hope and crossing your fingers, try to make sure you dont save in the Lost Bay. This glitch only seems to happen in MODDED GAME for some reason, so if youre not using my umap files, dont launch the game in MODDED GAME mode.

BUG: Sometimes launching in MODDED GAME mode causes Fable to straight up not load sometimes.
FIX: Like the last workaround, only play in MODDED GAME mode if youre using my umap files. If you are using my umap files, just try again or restart Steam and it should be fine.

BUG: The axes that villagers drop face the wrong way when equipped
FIX: None. This is purely a visual thing, and I don't have the 3D modelling experience to fix it.

BUG: If you kill any Bowerstone South children before finishing the Book Collection quest, then the book cutscenes will have the children missing (including their voices).
FIX: None. Even when they respawn, the cutscenes will still be bugged.

BUG: When you kill children, their bodies float in the air before vanishing
FIX: None.

BUG: Sometimes in Bowerstone South, during a crime spree, the Teacher and Bard will attack you and stay permanently aggroed, even after your fine has been paid/forgiven.
FIX: Kill them and wait 3 in-game days for them to respawn (or be a good hero!).

BUG: If you attack an unkillable NPC (e.g. the Guildmaster or the widow at Barrow Fields) with the DLC bows, the explosions will make them an enemy and as a result, won't let you interact with them.
FIX: Leave the area and come back seems to work. To be on the safe side, leave the area and sleep for 3 in-game days.

BUG: Some one-handed weapons are incorrectly listed as Heavy
FIX: None.

BUG: The Scythe Hero Doll can be awkward to pick up from certain angles
FIX: None.

BUG: Some enemies will appear to drop items, but not give you any items upon pick up
FIX: None.

BUG: If an enemy gets stuck outside of the map, theyll stop moving and attacking, but you can still attack them
FIX: None.
