Player Ragdoll Physics

This mod causes the player and all human-type NPCs and enemies to ragdoll when they die instead of disintegrating. The dust particle effect still happens, but your corpse will persist until the loading screen. Think of it like your soul leaving your body.

This applies to nearly all death animations. The only exceptions are a few grabs, deathblight, and the killbox falling death which just instantly disintegrates you.

Human-type corpses have VERY little friction as ragdolls (as they aren't set up for this) and will slide around like they're on ice a lot of the time. This also makes them very easy to kick around, including you.

Most knockback deaths, like from greatarrows, will launch your ragdoll a decent distance. Many grabs have your character ragdoll after coming to a stop, despite the throwing animation, because of how the animations are set up. Nothing I can do about those.

This mod does not currently contain recent changes to non-weapon animations (i.e. light rolls and pivots and stuff) as including those would require me to remake the entire mod from scratch. This is fine for now as most animation changes mainly affect PvP, but I will likely remake this some time after the DLC releases.

Special thanks to Chanelorn for their original DS3 mod which gave me the idea to make this.

WARNING

Using this mod in regular online mode WILL GET YOU BANNED!
This mod changes core files of the game, which the game servers and anticheat will detect and ban you for having.
If you're going to go online, either use a separate save or make VERY sure that you've disabled this mod before doing so.
Seamless Coop is 100% safe to use this with, as it has it's own separate save system and doesn't sync with the regular online servers at all.

Compatibilities:

Somewhat compatible with with Seamless Coop, see known bugs section

Incompatible with other mods that replace "c0000.anibnd.dcx" without merging, see "Merging" section for more details

Known bugs:

In Seamless Coop, other players don't ragdoll and appear to freeze in the last frame of their death animation instead, but will still not fade out.

Human-type NPCs which drop their items on the ground may take a few seconds for their drops to appear. This means that it's possible to lose out on items due to a corpse being kicked or sliding to an inaccessible area before the items spawn, but there are very few NPCs that do this in vanilla.

Human-type spirit summons, phantoms, and invaders will ragdoll but disappear very quickly after death. This is because these NPCs are set up to be deleted after death.

May cause your runes to appear where your ragdoll was instead of where you initially died if you stay dead for longer than 10 seconds without being respawned (i.e. Seamless Coop boss fights).

General Installation:

First, download Mod Engine 2 at this link and follow the installation process there if you don't have it already.
(Optionally, follow the instructions for making ME2 work with Seamless Coop)

Method 1:

1. Extract the contents of the "ragdoll" folder to the "mod" folder in your Mod Engine directory

2. Launch Elden Ring through ME2

This is the easiest method, but it will overwrite any player animation mods you have installed in your mod folder. Keep a backup if you need to.

Method 2:

1. Extract the "ragdoll" folder to your Mod Engine folder

3. Open the file "config_eldenring.toml" and add this line to your mod list:

{ enabled = true, name = "ragdoll", path = "ragdoll" },

3. Save and launch Elden Ring through ME2

This method is more advanced, but it allows you to avoid potentially overwriting other mods you have installed. It's not necessary, but I personally recommend it.

Merging:

Merging this mod requires the use of Yabber or DSAnimStudio which is currently in Patreon early access for Elden Ring. You only need to do this if you already have another mod which uses "c0000.anibnd.dcx".

This mod only changes "a00.tae", which is supplied in the optional folder. Merging is a bit complicated, so I won't be going over it here, but a tutorial for Yabber is included in the readme of the tool.
