Remember when we were all counting down the days until Dying Light came out, watching all these INTENSE trailers, watching zombies run up walls, jump from buildings after you, feeling creeped out by the dark night concept? Seeing Rais's men with guns guard airdrops, watching as the player just barely gets away by using his hook? 

This mod aims to fix just that.

This mod adds a harsher AI to be reckoned with (human and zombies), environmental changes (weather and time scale), Inventory/trader overhaul, Realistic sound script manipulation, Player appearance (all skins unlocked), and a ton of new features across Harran. This is a complete overhaul to Dying Light.

Difficulty Explanation:
Survivor: This version of the mod is designed to make the world more reactive and dangerous while keeping the flow of the vanilla game. You can become overwhelmed playing on the ground with the zombies, make sure to use your speed and climbing to get around and above them. Rais's men are now armed with Rifles and can cut their way through the city. This version includes increased map density to make the world more deadly and chaotic.

Ultimate Survivor: This version of the mod is designed to make the world more relentless and dangerous to make you change the way you play the game. The world is searching for you and won't stop until you die. You can become overwhelmed very easily when outside of safezones, so make sure you have a plan before leaving the safezones. It's essential to use your speed and climbing to get around, and you will need to use your tools to overcome areas. Rais's men are now armed with Rifles and can cut their way through the city. This version includes increased map density to make the world more deadly and chaotic.

Insanity Mode: This version of the mod is designed for those of you who have played the game and you want to suffer a new world with new challenges. The world is searching for you and won't stop until you die. You need to keep moving when outside of safezones, so make sure you have a plan, tools, and good weapons before leaving the safezones. It's essential to use your speed and climbing to get around, and you will need to use your tools to overcome areas. Rais's men are now armed with Rifles and can cut their way through the city. This version includes increased map density to make the world more deadly and chaotic.

What does this mod do exactly?
  • 1. Expanded the list of zombie enemies to include all variant models of zombies found in the world.
  • 2. Added new Zombie behaviors to make the common infected more deadly and more diverse.
  • 3. Increased the world spawn density, experience the city flooded with the undead. Respawning for enemies has been delayed to support the idea of "clearing the block". This can be especially useful for clearing areas or leading the undead away from quest areas.
  • 4. Rais's Riflemen: Enemy soldiers now carry rifles and are not afraid to mow down the crowd, be ready for a fight!
  • 5. Custom AI behaviors and more realistic gameplay features for all major infected and humans.
  • 6. Custom Weather added to the game, this unlocks all available weathers in the game!
  • 7. A custom config file "IAL_Settings.mth" found inside the data3.pak that all players can modify to their desired settings.

Important notes before you download:
  • This mod is compatible with your current saves. You don't need to start a new game to start enjoying it. As a common practice, make sure to backup your vanilla savegames if you have never used mods prior to installing mods.
  • This mod comes with it's own installer and is currently supported by Vortex. For how to use the installer please scroll down to the Installer Tutorial.
  • BEFORE INSTALLING THE MOD - Go ahead and run steam file verification, use the install guide video if you don't know how, 90% of players reported bugs are normally caused by a bad vanilla updates when official versions drop through steam.
  • This mod does not support the cracked versions of the game. This mod is meant to expand the play-ability to the players who purchased the game. Please do not report bugs for issues with Cracked versions of the game.
  • To better assist with finding bugs with the mod, please remove all other mods before starting the report, and please provide as much detail as possible as it will likely take reproducing the exact conditions to find the issue. This is very time consuming and so anything you can provide including a savegame through the discord will greatly help. Thank you!
  • If installed correctly, a custom menu option will show up on the main menu that should include the version number!
  • Yes this mod was designed with coop in mind, as of 1.28a it should work 100% with coop as long as all players have the exact same mod files. To save time, have the host send all other players their Dying Light/DW custom mod .paks (Data3, Data4, Data5, etc).

-This mod does not require any other mods, I would highly recommend uninstalling all mods first, install IAL and then reinstall each mod to make sure the other mods are compatible and updated before reporting bugs with IAL. I would recommend using the Installer if you're new to modding the game.

Update 1.28a
- Fixed multiple errors in Survivor edition of the Mod, sorry for this oversight last update!
- Ultimate Survivor now features a blend of Runners and Walkers, while Insanity is all runners.
- Added a new CONFIG option for a health modifier for the zombies, this should allow you to balance the enemies in the world with the difficulty! Let me know your ideal balance and we'll continue to refine.
- Added a non-actionable menu button on startup to show if the mod is properly installed.
- Please make sure to check out the Config settings (ial_settings.mth inside Data3.pak) to better balance these mod difficulties to your playstyle!
- Reversed the Optional Map Spawn to Decrease the Zombies, not increase. This includes a lot of features for the view distance and density system not released in the last version. If you want to reduce the count of zombies, use the optional.
- Fixes for the visuals of the models, removed the Giant Miners helmet that I put in as an easter egg. A lot of people thought it was a bug so it was removed.

Update 1.28
- There are 2 versions of IAL being released with this update:
Ultimate Survivor and Insanity.
- Ultimate survivor - The common biters of the world will hunt the player, searching their area and moving randomly across the map hunting the player. This makes no where safe! Biters will search high and low for the player and will scream when they spot you, calling more biters to your position. Biters can climb, jump, and crawl towards the player and they are relentless, run until you have the high ground, pick off enemies when you can, and make sure to use your tools!
- Insanity is similar to Ultimate but takes things up another knotch with the ability for all enemies to see you at a further distance and chase you further. This makes escape much more difficult over time but alot of fun for the adrenaline junky!
- Spawn Amount (Optional) included with the installer.
- Reshade (Optional) included with the installer for a restoration of the game to modern standards. I'm in love. (Home key - Reshade Menu), (End key - Toggle on/off)
- Release of the I Am Legion Installer, this will make it easier to update in the future for those of you who don't mind installers.
- Casual Survivor and improvements to Survivor are coming soon!

Update 1.27 - Return to Harran
- Added the IAL_Settings.mth config with lots of new options, more still coming with Part 2!
- Map density increased for each map (more zombies).
- Diverse Zombies added to the spawns
- Improved view distance for the world and LODs, thank god
- Improved AI Logic
- Better balancing for Human spawns in the world, randomly stumble upon other humans in the world trying to survive.
- Fix for the Audio bug causing the zombies to be silent
- Bandit spawn diverse spawns return to the world
- A certain amount of "fresh" zombies now hunt for you and can climb
- Improved grouping and AI communications for zombies and Humans
- Fix for loot spawn bug and system slowdown (maxed out the engine on spawns >.<)
- Removed firearms not being used by Raises men
- Reduced the amount of "Large helmet" zombies 😄
- Fix for the diversity not working due to the Loot spawn bug
- The 3 difficulty versions and installer with optionals will be coming with Part 2

Update 1.25 The New Beginning
I'm back. I'm sorry so many messages went unanswered in my absence but let me try to make up for that with a rerelease of the mod. I'm preparing for the release of Dying Light 2 and wanted to continue the fun on Dying Light 1. Make sure to head over to the discord channel for ongoing development discussion and Dying Light 2 modding (if possible).

I Am Legion now works with The Following Expansion and all dlc's. I have heard your concerns and have brought back the original zombies, only in greater numbers. I have rebalanced the mod to make them a critical part of the redesign. I want to hear what people are seeing on the ground first before offering any variety to the mod other than player stats so I can take on problems without guessing which file variation might be causing it.

Here are all the gameplay features at their best:

This mod is compatible with Advanced Moves and many others as long as it doesn't replace any of the files IAL uses.

Storms and different weathers
Brought the variety of the weather systems to the Slums to provide more interesting environment.

Daytime cycle, time scale
Scaled back the time to make each hour ingame count as 8 minutes ingame.
This will help force the player to plan routes and head back to base before night sets in. 

Almost all if not every feature of this games damage system has been modified to bring more intense combat. Do not think you can take on the horde at a low level, evade and escape until you are able to stockpile the weapons needed to clear an area.

Rais's men are now armed to the teeth.
No more running around with pipes for these AI, there's a reason they have survived this long, and they are willing to slaughter every moving target if it gets them to their objective. Do not engage and avoid unless you have the ammo to take them out.

Each level of difficulty is written to provide you with a different challenge when it comes to ammo. Casual survivors get the default amount but those of you who want the challenge will be limited on the amount of rounds you can haul around.

Bullet Penetration
Bullets and arrows can now punch through the undead!

Overhaul of the crafting system to make weapons more realistic to construct and fix some of the weird combinations techland gave us.

Casual survivors enjoy the default settings for Camo, while those of us who love a challenge will not be able to run around and kill while covered in slim. Set to be similar to the scene in Season 1 of The Walking Dead, Don't think you are going out guns blazing and not be seen.

Fall heights and damage
Ultimate survivors have to deal with the fact that you arent superman, and because of that you will be limited in the distance you can fall before you shatter your knee caps. Plan your routes and don' try to jump 3 stories down without paying for it.

Fighter Experience
Lowered the default experience gained for fighting, as you will now how way more zombies to deal with. 

Completely rebalanced all rifles and pistols in the game. The military rifle has the bonus of throwing rounds down range but suffers from rapidly expending ammo. While the Police rifle is great for single shot action and can help you pop heads. Be careful of the attention you will gain from using guns in the game.

Shortened and lowered your options when playing Ultimate survivor. No more throwing a hook while in mid air to save your neck, so make sure you have your feet on the ground before you attempt to escape.

Lowered the amount of items you can carry at the start of the game for Ultimate survivors, once you start to gain levels this goes away. 

Loot system
Completely changed the loot system in the game, make sure to look in all containers for different items, the trash cans can hold the item you have been searching for. 

Monetary system
Completely redid the entire cash system in the game, no longer pay $14,000 for a hammer. Each item has been scaled back to a realistic price for the apocalypse, but so has your rewards and money found on the dead. 

Night Spawns
Increased the amount of zombies who follow and come to your location, the enemy can now call to each other, they are hunting you from all directions now. Keep moving.

Decreased range of sonar detection, cannot use while sprinting.

Ultimate survivors must face the challenges of being a squishy mortal, no more throwing 1000x kicks to ward off the dead, if you are going to fight, make sure you have the stamina to do so.

Swimming speed GREATLY increased, no more hour long trips to the bridge.

Search for items to sell at the trader, you won't be walking away with 12 boxes of ammo for cheap, so make sure you plan ahead for how you are going to purchase your ammo.

Unlocked appearances
All skins unlocked. Look good while you die.

All weapons (including DLC) have been altered to bring a more realistic force and durability, no more winning the game with the same wooden weapon.[/size]
Fixed Phone calls to GRE
No more standing and waiting for the phone calls to finish!


Sound and detection
Increased variables to make more realistic, explosions, voices, planes, etc, upsetting zombies.
Gun sounds now realistically carry at night, causing more zombies to come down.
Smarter to use melee only at night or sneak.
If you have to shoot use pistols, rifles and shotguns, plan to start running.
If you get bitten the other zombies smell your blood!
If you get wounded while fighting other humans, the zombies will smell your blood and become more aware!
Stay away from open groups, main streets, highways.[/center]
