Hello, all! I'm excited to finally upload this mod. This has been a personal project of mine for the last couple months. It started out as something for myself, but I quickly realized that what I wanted the Inquisition to look like may also be desired by others. I was inspired by LL Inquisition Faction and Faction Recolors and followed their cues as to what textures needed to be changed.

Red & Gold
Purple & Gold
Blue & Gold
Black & Gold

The colors are intended to be richer and darker. I know that my idea of what looks good won't be that way for everyone, but I enjoy the idea of the Inquisition standing out more. I'm also a stickler for organization and wanting things to match, so it always bothered me that the vanilla colors didn't go well together or were a bit drab. If you are looking for Green & Gold, check out LapisLazzuli's LL Inquisition Faction.

I tested each color and version and they all worked on my end. They're divided into four parts:

Heraldry - Inquisition symbols, flags and banners. Intro flag, tents, painted symbol, outpost flags, the declaration, default throne, party call.
Furnishings - Inquisitor's quarters customization items such as beds, chairs, pillows, stools, and Josephine's chair
Adornments - Inquisition themed rugs, curtains, stained glass and murals
Armory - Inquisition soldiers' armor

I have two other mods that are companion pieces to this. One is for Formal Attire (all races and genders) and the other is PJs (HM only right now):

Resplendent Formal Wear
Brocade Outfit HM - Additional Colors to LollaLeeloo's Mod

If you are looking for some armor that goes with these colors, I highly recommend unniebee's Faction Wardrobe for All

Disclaimer: When I was taking the screenshots for this, I was using the mods Northern Lights and Skyhold Recolors. Northern Lights effects the lighting enough that it can cause the colors in this mod to be a bit different. So just keep it in mind that the colors in your game may look slightly different from mine if you don't use Northern Lights or other mods like it. Skyhold Recolors changes the textures and colors of Skyhold's rooves and stones, hence the red rooves, lighter stone walls and dark stone accents in the screenshots. Photos were achieved by using DAI Cinematic Tools.

I tested each of these in Skyhold and the Hinterlands, so please let me know if there are any significant issues I should look at. This took a lot and I had so many files to organize, it wouldn't surprise me if a texture was missed or broken. Look at the troubleshooting/known issues section below to see if something there might resolve a problem you have. This mod will conflict with the other faction recolor mods, so use only one at a time.

UPDATE 3/30/2022

Added "No Throne" edition of all color combinations, located in optional files.
DAIMOD & FROSTY. It's the same mod but without the default Inquisition throne being changed. This will allow you to use other throne mods, such as Regal Inquisition Throne, alongside my faction recolors. Makes it easier to use both now without overwriting anything or sacrificing one for the other. Just replace the "Heraldry" file with the "No Throne" equivalent. Don't use both at once! Again, the only change is that the default throne isn't touched.

UPDATE 3/24/2022

Red versions, both gold and silver
: Edited the red coloring of the large banner. It was one of the first textures I did for this mod, and it shows. After doing a hundred more, I went back and fixed it up :)

UPDATE 3/21/2022

Silver versions are now available! unniebee's Faction Recolors has also done these silver color schemes, but their combination of colors is different than what I'm offering. Their primary colors are a lighter shade and incorporate multiple colors more often. They also have a wonderful Darker Wood Furniture mod that I highly recommend. If the recolors here don't tickle your fancy, check them out instead.

Red Silver
Purple & Silver
Blue & Silver
Black Silver

UPDATE 3/16/2022

Purple & Gold: Some banners, soldiers and tents had their color adjusted to a lighter shade of purple. Looked a bit too dark to me in comparison to the others. Didn't stand out as much, so to speak.

Blue & Gold: Corrected a coloring mistake on the Inquisition tent.

Black & Gold: Corrected a coloring mistake on the Inquisition tent.

Screenshots have been edited to reflect these changes.

Using DAI Mod Manager + Frosty Together [OPTIONAL]

Personally, this is the route I go. It's completely optional, but it does allow you to use DAIMOD and Frosty mods at the same time.

  • Merge the mods you want with DIA Mod Manager
  • Go to the DAI install directory and delete "ModData" if you have it. Don't worry if you don't.
  • Open the Update Folder. Cut and paste the Patch folder somewhere safe. Rename Patch_ModManagerMerge to Patch
  • Run Frosty Mod Manager and enable the mods you want.
  • Launch the game through Frosty. You should now be playing the game with both DAIMM and Frosty mods.
  • If you need to change mods through DAIMM, copy/paste the original Patch folder back into the game directory and delete the ModData folder. You'll then need to repeat these steps.

Troubleshooting/Known Issues

  • Make sure you don't have any conflicting mods
  • Have Frosty/DAIMM at their latest versions. Go here for Frosty Tool Suite, which is still regularly updated. DAIMM is on Nexus; the mod page says abandoned, but it still works to this day.
  • Run the game and mod manager in Administrator mode
  • If using Frosty, be sure to launch the game from there and not Origin, Steam, etc.
  • If you need a clean slate or want to make doubly sure your mods are installed correctly, you can delete the mod folders found in the game directory. What I mean by that is the new folders Frosty and DAIMM create when merging/applying mods. Frosty creates a folder called "ModData" which should be in the same location as the game exe. DAIMM creates a folder called "Patch_ModManagerMerge, and is located in the "Update" folder.
  • Another thing about DAIMM: when it's merging mods, it's essentially making a new patch for your game. DAI is on version 12, so DAIMM makes a "new" patch telling the game that it's on version 13. Keep this in mind if you delete Patch_ModManagerMerge, because then any saves made while in version 13 will not load, as the game thinks you are on a different patch.
  • If you're getting crashes or infinite loading screens, you'll have to go through your mods one by one to find the culprit. It sucks, but that's kind of the only way to figure it out for DAI
  • Infinite loading screens can also be caused by a problem with a save file. Certain areas or mods can change or corrupt your save, so always be saving! I've lost a lot of hours with screwed up saves.
  • Repairing the game is a good idea to try, it can clean up corrupted or missing files
  • Make sure your mesh settings are on Ultra! Pretty much all texture mods require this.
  • DAI doesn't like texture mods. No matter your PC, modified textures will impact game performance. Just keep that in mind. One solution I do is to give DAI a higher CPU priority using Process Lasso. You don't need that program to do it, though, Task Manager works just as well.
  • Texture mods put less of a load on your game if you use them in DAI Mod Manager but are more prone to infinite load or black screens. Texture mods in Frosty are less likely to cause glitches but put a heavy load on your game. This can be seen with textures popping in, invisible textures, or a rainbow effect.
  • Visual errors may occur with modded textures such as a rainbow effect or invisibility. The mod DAI Frosty Texture Glitch Fixes (linked below) can help eliminate these bugs (Frosty only).
  • If you know what mod is giving you issues and you really want to use it, try placing it at the bottom of your load order
  • DAIMODs can be added to and used via Frosty. Depending on the mod, it could end up working better for you.
  • Frosty mods are usable in DLCs like Trespasser, Jaws of Hakkon, and The Descent. DAIMODs will not usually work in these areas
  • When using the DAIMOD version, you might get an error message regarding the Armory and Adornments part of the mod. This is a false positive, one that I'm not really sure why it happens. It shows up when using the other faction recolor mods, too. It doesn't affect your game or the mod and can be ignored.
  • The Frosty versions seemed to have a hard time getting the bedroom mural and Skyhold flags to work (the smaller ones atop the castle walls/turrets). At one point I repaired the game through Origin and the mural was working again, as well as the red flag. The purple and blue flags were still blurry, and the black one was invisible. I'm hoping it's just my particular copy of the game with this problem, as I tried a lot of ways to get the flags working. I did not see any of these issues with the DAIMOD versions.
