Hello, would you be able to make a version of the scalp stubble that is less receding? I want my warden to have a buzzcut but he's quite young looking so the stubble being so far back looks strange on him, I don't know if this is even possible but I figured there was no harm in asking :)

There is a very visible/noticeable seam between the face/neck and scalp, looks great but that seam bothers me sooo badly.
Kind of stops me from using the hair I want bc it's visible, at this point I'm just trying to find a hair that covers it instead of using the hair I want.

Someone asked about this before but I haven't yet seen any proof that this mod is causing the issue. There shouldn't be any way for it to create a seam, since the actual textures are clean in that area. It looked like the other user was using certain face complexions that don't match the specular of the vanilla scalp, such as sjc's complexions, and that can make the seam obvious but has nothing to do with this mod. If you have this issue I would need to see before/after images that use exactly the same complexion - the only difference should be the presence/absence of this mod. Feel free to DM them to me!

Is there supposed to be a subfolder in ~/override, or are the .dds files in the zipped archive supposed to be loose files in the override folder?  Same question for Real Pigment.

They'll work either way, but it's generally best practice to put them in folders both for organisation and to manage load order if you ever need to :3

the textures look amazing but in my game there is a really prominent seam/tint tone difference between the scalps and faces, does anyone know what might cause this? i already checked for duplicate files and didn't find any

Hmm, that doesn't really sound like something this mod could cause, did you test with and without this mod installed? Normally when I hear about something like that, it means that a head has a missing tattoo file and the tattoo colour is therefore being applied to the whole face.

I have the same exact issue, uninstalling the mod seems to make the seam almost invisible (i can still kinda tell its there but maybe it was always so I just know where to look now)

My suspicion is that it has something to do with custom face tint maps making the texture appear different than vanilla. This mod is probably tuned for vanilla face/skin tintmaps and that's why the seam shows.

That's very odd, the files this mod changes are independent of any other face texture or tint map, so it shouldn't be causing any issues like that. Can I get you to send me some screenshots either here or in a DM, and the name(s) of what custom face tint map(s) you're using? :3

Picture i posted is with one of the SJC's skins,  (the thing which is adjusted on skin complexion slider, uh_hed_fema*.dds and similar)
other skin files might show more or less of a seam. With some custom morphs there's a full on gap in the neck (althout i think that's a different problem)

This is the default morph, on some custom one's the gap can be even bigger, I'm not sure what causes this.

I can't see that any of this is caused by my mod, I'm afraid. Many complexions - including SJC's skins - may show the scalp seam because their specular value is quite different at the edge. There are also many custom complexions out there that have different colours at the edge of the scalp, with the intent that the seam is covered by hair - if it's not covered, it's pretty obvious. And as you might have guessed, the model gap is nothing to do with any textures and more to do with the vanilla scalp model just being a bit janky. I'd have to see evidence that the exact same complexion looks different at the seam with and without my mod to troubleshoot it.

Might I be so bold to suggest (your son is also a good  candidate) you add the Kani Hime's vanilla face texture replacers as a soft requirement for this mod, as it's pretty much the only face texture i found that doesn't produce the abovementioned line.

Sorry, but I'm still not aware of any evidence that my mod creates this issue - the issues you've shown me are present with or without my mod. If you want complexions that don't have seams with the vanilla scalp there's the vanilla complexions of course, and hoarous's fantastic subtler default skin replacers. Ellise's unique companion textures also use vanilla near the seams, and I suspect there are many more modern complexions that don't show the seam.

I downloaded the file, unzipped, placed the unzipped folder in override as usual, but the mod is having no effect, even on a new game. Are there any other steps necessary, like using the chargen morph compiler or something?

Or installing it with the DAO mod manager?

Nothing else necessary at all, it should have immediate effect on even existing games. Do you have any other eyebrow/stubble mods installed as well?

I double checked and found one single eye brow mod file, Eyebrow Presets, uh_hed_stb_0t.

I'm not even sure what it goes to. Could that be causing the issue?

I removed that single file from my override, but no change. I did find another mod, an Alistair face update mod, that also includes that file. Would I need to remove it from that one as well?

Yes, if it's in an alphabetically later folder then it would be overriding my mod I'm afraid! The game will only show the last version loaded of any given file, so you must always watch out for duplicate files in your override. You may find this tool useful: Duplicate Search Tool

Thank you! Removing both the other eyebrow mod I had forgotten about, and the uh_hed_stb_0t file from the Realistic Alistair mod allowed your mod to work properly. I now know the true joy of realistic facial hair on my DAO characters!

      Thanks again!

Does anyone know if this works with other eyebrow mods, such as Eyebrow Presets?

Sadly not, since they edit the same file -- without manual editing, there's no mixing and matching, I'm afraid. I listed that mod and other eyebrow/stubble mods that aren't compatible under the Compatibility section in the description. I did try to fix the same issues that LotC fixed in that mod, but it's up to you which you prefer!

Basically, the way the file works is that the red, green, blue and alpha channels each contain a separate eyebrow image -- bushy, regular, thick and thinned, respectively -- and those are the options you can choose between. So the only way to have, for example, the thick eyebrows from a different mod would be to splice in the eyebrow area of its blue channel. In addition to that, the stubble is in the same file, just masked off from the eyebrows. So mixing one mod's stubble with another mod's eyebrows would also require editing the files together (but a little more simply).

Thank you for sharing! My current warden uses the scalp stubble as "haircut" and it looks so much better in HD!
