Please download and endorse "sword sheaths cutscene glitches fixed" from The Witcher 2 DAO to avoid problems with cutscenes.
If you only want SOME of the weapons to sheath at the hip, simply delete the subfolders of the weapons you don't want. For example, if you want your longswords to go back to the default, simply delete the "Longsword" subfolder inside of the "zz_HipSheath" folder.

There are some known issues. I don't have the skills or knowledge to fix these issues. You'll have to decide for yourself if these things will bother you too much to use this mod.
1. Sheathed weapons will clip as you walk or idle.
2. Weapons still use the original "sheathe to back" animations.
3. A small gap still exists between the weapon models and the body models, but you may notice it more now that weapons are on the hip instead of the back.
4. Weapon placement and clipping may be worse with custom body models or custom armors.
For some reason I was convinced a mod like this could never exist. My thanks. It's a shame the unsheathing animation and clipping stuff can't be (easily) corrected, but I can live with that.
I endorsed this mod because I think it's great this option is now available to players. And even without compatibility issues.
The reason I probably won't use the mod for a whole playthrough is that the weapons float about a handwidth away from the character's waists which causes constant clipping during idle animations (vanilla body/armor meshes, no geometry mods). Another reason would be that DAO's weapons are so unrealisticly large. Bioware's version of a basic dagger is larger than some real world shortswords. And constantly seeing how the weapons grips are thicker than my elfgirls forearms is not exactly increasing immersion so further modding is required. BW's halfassed work is just constantly getting in the way *sadface*
I appreciate the feedback, and the endorsement! Unfortunately I am clueless when it comes to animations and character skeletons, so I can't fix the placement and clipping issues that are bothering people.
If you are interested in more realistic weapons (or at least more realistically sized weapons), then there are several great mods available. Here are some that I've personally used and love.
If you'd rather use the original Bioware long-sword and dagger designs, then Rescaled Swords makes them smaller. (It includes resized daggers in the mod as well, just not in the mod title.)
Bow Replacer slims down the original bow models. They look great!
Shield Scale Mod makes the Bucklers smaller, and the Kite and Tower shields larger.
Oh my gosh, I've been waiting for something like this for AGES! Thank you so much for making it a reality! Your hard work is so greatly appreciated!
I've only got one question: do you plan on making this compatible with "Elf Update?" Because while it works perfectly, the proportions are different, so it looks like my daggers are floating, and there's a bit of clipping through the arms. Not a big deal--I'm still gonna use this mod because it's wonderful--just curious is all. If not, I totally understand.
All this mod does is utilize a weapon position that was already available in the game, but unused.
Changing the specific placement of the weapons in relation to modded body shapes is something far beyond my knowledge and skill. I don't plan on making this compatible with any modded body shapes.
Wow, I love you! Hahahahaha I love that I change so beautiful in the Game I'm already doing a section of photos to upload the pictures and to your mod ... of the different Axes and Maces, thanks for fulfilling my request and very fast.

Adonnay's Weapon Replacer replaces long-swords and daggers with much more realistic, beautiful, custom models. I also Rescaled Adonnay's Daggers to make them smaller.

For Dragon Age 2, I use Reasonable daggers and Reasonable Greatswords for more realistically sized weapons.
Sorry if this is a dumb question, I couldn't find any info here or in the description. :)
