    Released Mod Update, v1.05:

    Fixes some oversights and bugs
    - Work around implemented for black screen error when entering interiors while using certain mods
    - Thieves Guild and Dark Brotherhood guildhalls should now be correctly recognized for chest generation and punishment for stealing from chests found in their guildhalls (if detected stealing from them at least)
    - Corrected math formula error that was causing those with higher attributes and skills to be detected more often when stealing from owned chests, rather than less often as would be expected
    - HUD text should now auto-wrap depending on the length of the text displayed (so should not be cut-off by the screen), for both SDF and non-SDF font modes
    - Better error handling and logging, options added to enable and disable this logging as well
    - Corrected some grammatical inconsistencies when the Skeleton's Key was referred to in text

    It will be cool if you add option that makes chests dont respawn after exit house. I can just endlesly loot one shop/tavern and dont need to find another chest

    loot piles spawn in the exact same spot as the chests and i keep getting an error for this mod after loading a save any help?

      Probably some incompatibility with like "Lootable Dungeon Shelves" or whatever it is called, and or Handpainted Models.

    I have a unlock spell that is maxed out at 20-20. It cant open some of these chests. The chests are not labeled as immune, just resistant. It says the value can be 1-100. I feel thats kinda crappy, a top tier unlock spell cant open a chest thats holding 170 gold and dwarven armor. 

    Now im on my first playthrough so im still learning how lots of things work, is there something im missing? Im having to bash this chest open and im losing some jewelry and being a loot goblin it kills me inside to do that. 
    I did some testing, made a open spell that was 100-100 and it worked... But I tried it again on another chest and it didnt...
    A open spell with 100-100 did not work...

      There are other factors than purely the strength of the spell, stuff like your magic skills and certain attributes come into play with the formula. Currently the only 100% guaranteed way to open chests is the Skeleton Key artifact.

    One of my favorite things about this mod is that it makes lockpicking way less annoying to level for characters who don't want to do illegal things for the skill. The loot is a cherry on top and the chests and mechanics themselves fit right in to a normal game feel. Great work on this one.

      Thank you, glad to hear you like it. Yeah, I was definitely trying to make this mostly useless skill in the base game actually have use with this mod, which includes making it less tedious to actually level as well.

    If it can be useful, I'm using these 3 conflicting mods together with minimal issues:
    I can confirm that Dungeon Loot + Locked Loot Containers + Hand Painted Models Replacements are working together BUT:

    • many locked 3D chests are half sunk through the floor, but still interactables
    • you must disable the texture change once a container has been looted (in Dungeon Loot options) or you wont be able to loot shelves. Also there is 80% chances not to find anything then if you very often get the message "nothing useful", just find another container, rince, repeat.
    • HPM must be loaded first.

      I am getting the same, with the models sunk into the floor. I can't bash the locks or get at the loot unless I use tcl. Anyone know what is causing this or how to fix it?

      If you are going to use Hand Painted Models, then I'd suggest turning the chests in this mod to 2D sprites rather than the 3D model versions, I think that should reduce the sinking issue related to the mod incompatibility.

      Thanks for the suggestion. The 2D models are properly above the ground and is working. Downside is, it's harder to target and hit the lock with them, but that's the trade off I suppose.

      This post is absolutely very helpful.

      I can 100% confirm that Hand Painted Models Replacements conflicts with the Locked Chests models; both 3D and 2D, no matter what load order it is in. The 2D models just completely disappear. Which is a very big shame, because the 3D Locked Chests compliments HPMR extremely well. Soon as I turned off HPMR, the Locked Chests are normal and above ground.

      I am not a modder/coder by any means. But if anyone knows of a compatibility patch or a workaround, let us all know in this post!

      @Pensize Btw, you don't have to actually aim your cursor near the lock when bashing to try and hit the lock. It is purely determined by a dice-roll, but this dice-roll is heavily determined by your weapon skill, agility attribute, luck, etc.

      I agree, interacting with a chest in this mod feels more complex than anything else in the game. And a bit too frustrating, magic resisting and lock jamming leading to 5 minutes of exhausting bashing just to destroy everything in the chest is a really unsatisfying system, especially considering the actual requirements of getting a high lockpicking skill in Daggerfall is unbelievably tedious. I remember in Morrowind by like level 50 lockpicking you could pretty much open everything including level 100 locks with the right picks, probably because having such a high requirement for such a tedious, repetitive skill isn't very fun to the player. Still a great mod though.

    Love the concept and mechanics behind this mod, but I have a request:

    Could we get settings to adjust the fatigue cost of pick attempts / bashing? Perhaps a slider from 0.0x to 1.0x so we can adjust it. It seems strange to me that at Level 1 I'm in danger of passing out from picking locks and bashing chests, but combat against a handful of foes is not nearly as exhausting.

      Next time I work on and update for the mod, I will try, yes. Until then, speed increases how quickly each lockpicking attempt takes, thus reducing the fatigue from time passed, endurance also makes bashing take less fatigue, just a note.

    I'm a bit curious, but how are you able to see the numbers next to the chest traits, like in one of your screenshots? Is it tied to a stat (INT, maybe?) or is there some setting I missed?

      That is actually a mechanic for the inspection aspect. Inspecting the chest and getting knowledge about its properties is based on alot of factors, primarily your character skills and attributes. Basically to get those specific number values your character needs to have exceptional knowledge, which is usually based on Intelligence, Willpower, and Lockpicking skill.

      Essentially the text will be more or less vague depending on these values and a dice-roll. The least vague giving all those granular numbers as you see. Hopefully that helps explain how it works.

    I've been really enjoying this mod! I have Mysticism as a primary skill, so the Open spell (and derivatives) is one of my go-to ways to open these, but I've also been leveling Lockpicking as well so I can loot as many chests as possible. I appreciate this design decision, because it encourages a well-diversified build. The amount of dopamine I get when I open one of these and see a high-tier item is inordinate. :)

    the stamina cost to bash (bashing already not a good idea for loot) is way too much and there's no setting to change it? bashing is basically unusable unless you want to rest 6 hours every time you find box

      Increase your endurance attribute, it reduces the stamina cost by alot.

      I have 70 Endurance, and bashing open the chests requires at least three full 140 Fatigue bars. The Fatigue cost to pick the locks in the first place is a bit absurd too; about ~10 per attempt, I think? I often forget how hard it drains me and end up dying shortly after, because most of my Fatigue was spent attempting to open one chest... that usually ends up getting jammed anyway. I usually just turn on god mod when I see one, because I don't want to spend an entire in-game day or two trying to crack one open, especially since bashing one open means destroying a couple weapons, thanks to Roleplay and Realism's durability system.

      It's a very interesting mod, but an option to reduce the Fatigue cost or remove it entirely would be greatly appreciated. Right now, it really bogs down gameplay and turns chests into a bit of a chore.
