Magicono has released a better version of this mod. I highly encourage you to download his instead, since it provides many quality of life features that my mod cannot. :)
Oh, yes! I loved these flavour text popups in Arena; I'll have to add this to my mod list. Since Daggerfall tracks the relationships between different regions, do the messages that say "[location] is currently at war/peace with [neighbor]" actually reflect the current faction relationships? It'd be cool if it did; the game could use more methods of knowing who's allied to whom at any given time.
Unfortunately, I haven't found a way to check for the current faction relationships. For the moment, Sentinel, Wayrest and Daggerfall have messages about being at peace with each other due to the recent events (War of Betony) and with other specific neighboring regions. In other palaces, the relationships are only "trade deals" with other cities of the same region.
Should it ever be possible, I would love, too, to reflect the relationships changes in the messages.
JohnDoom uses that data in his Power Struggles mod, so it is somehow accessible. Maybe he could shed some light on where that is stored?
Edit: That is done in C# (part of the download for that mod). It uses the data that generates rumor dialog to determine if the current region has a crime wave, a plague outbreak, is at war, etc.
If you are not comfortable with C# and would like a mod to expose that data to the quest script, I can try my hand at such a thing, it has been a few years but I used to be a professional programmer.

These messages are a lot like what a DM would tell you to describe an area in a pen & paper game. I love Arena's text prompts. Cheers!
