About this mod

Adds a little Rickrollin' flavor to the huge display screen in the middle of Dogtown.

Whether it was a drunken bet, an attempt at some sort of statement against the oppressive Dogtown regime, or just some kids screwing with an old holo shard they'd dug out of an antique record store, the huge megascreen that adorns the old Palladia Tower hasn't been the same since someone uploaded the vid of the enigmatic guy with the moves of an angel and hair that would make a Poser ganger weep in envy.

Though the tower's display was stripped of its sound system by hungry tech vultures years ago, the people of D-Town can't help but stare up at the pelvic-thrusting adonis that graces their skyline, wondering what melodies might be spurring that man's majestic routine, and what power his silenced words might hold. Some say he could be some up and coming music prodigy looking to spark a following amongst the unsuspecting observers. Others speak of an old rockerboy from the United Kingdom who was known as much for his music as he was for his sense of humor and relentless love of pranks and practical jokes.

Until the Barghest mutts figure out which of the behemoth server stacks within the towering carcass houses this rogue video record, this mysterious performer continues to bring light into the lives of Dogtown's downtrodden underclasses; a ray of hope that the Barghest militia is never gonna give you, up in the skies above.

What is this?

This mod adds some Astley flavour to the four main videos that play on the huge Dogtown screen at different stages of the Phantom Liberty story. There's one to replace Kurt Hansen's normal video, one for Bennett, one for Jago, and one for after the death announcement. You can install one, or mix and match as many as you please!

There are a few displays spread throughout Night City that also show these videos, so there's a chance that Mr Astley might make an unexpected appearance elsewhere!

(Please note that the regular character video plays initially and then loops between that and the new video - this is intended!)

But why?

Well, because I was poking around in the Wolvenkit editor looking for things relating to a car appearance mod that I wanted to make and stumbled across the video files for the Dogtown screen, and thought it'd be funny to throw the internet's favourite prankster up there! It even featured as an easter egg in a couple of my Phantom Liberty Let's Play videos.

There's also a little extra bit of Astley thrown into this mod for good measure, just because it made me laugh - see if you can spot it!

Installation

  • Just unpack into your Cyberpunk 2077 directory, or install through a mod manager as normal.
