About this mod

This mod allows you to choose how frequently you want to gain a Feat when leveling. It is designed to be compatible with every class or level-curve mod, past, present and future.

Requirements
Permissions and credits
This mod allows you to choose how frequently you want to gain a Feat when leveling up. It uses Script Extender to dynamically update any and all necessary class progressions in the game, including modded ones.

It also provides options to tie feat progression to your total character level, instead of individual class levels. However, this is a bit experimental and you should read the notes below if you wish to use this option.

There is also an optional file to gain an extra feat at second level, regardless of which progression you choose.

Compatibility

Unfortunately, I'm getting reports that currently, no version of this mod works properly in multiplayer. I'm not sure why, but I'm investigating it. A possible (and hopefully temporary) workaround is to have one player do all the leveling up in singleplayer, and have the other players rejoin when leveling is done.

Compatible with everything that does not also use SE to mod feat progressions.
This means it should be compatible with every class mod out there, as well as with any level 13+ / level curve mods.

Installation

1. Make sure you have BG3 Script Extender installed.
2. Download and install one mod from the main files, depending on which rate of progress you want.
3. (Optional) Download and install the optional mod if you would like to have a feat at level 2 regardless of your chosen progression (NOTE: there is a hardcoded maximum of one feat per level, so this optional file does nothing for the "Feat Every Level" and "Per 2 Class/Character Levels" versions). Install this like any other mod (load order does not matter). A main mod is required for this to work. I have included a "vanilla" version of the main mod for people who only want the extra feat at level 2, and no other changes.

I recommend using BG3 Mod Manager to install and manage your mods, however this should also work fine with any other mod manager out there.

*IMPORTANT* Notes on the "per character level" variants.

(None of the below applies if you pick the "Vanilla", "Every Level", or one of the "Per X Class Levels" variants. They just work.)

These versions "decouple" the feat progression from class levels, and instead ties it to your total character level instead. For example, if you select the "Per 3 Character Levels" version, a level 6 Barbarian would have 2 feats, as would a Barbarian 4/Monk 2 multiclassed character, or a 1/5 split, or a 2/1/3, etc... This is reminiscent of how feats worked in previous editions of D&D (or Pathfinder).

HOWEVER, this is not really supported by the game, and there is a lot of hackery going on behind the scenes to make this work.
MAKE SURE YOU FOLLOW THESE GUIDELINES:
  • These variants will NOT WORK IN MULTIPLAYER. Sorry folks, just can't be done at the moment. A possible workaround is to have one player load the game in singleplayer and do all the leveling up, and then the other players can re-join and continue the multiplayer. This is untested, however.
  • Do NOT use the little arrow in the portraits on the side of the screen to go to the level up screen. Use the big "Level Up" button at the bottom, below your character portrait.
  • Similarly, when leveling up multiple characters at once, the game will automatically move to the next character when you are done leveling one character. EXIT OUT OF THE LEVEL UP SCREEN (ESC), select the next character you want to level up, and click the Level Up button.
  • Even doing all this, the level up UI will sometimes not pick up the changes to the progressions "in time", and not display them correctly (this tends to happen when leveling up more than one level at a time). You can fix this by clicking between your classes (if you are already multiclassed), opening and closing the "Add class" window, or simply exiting out of the level up sceen and clicking the Level Up button once again. Yes this is mildly annoying. No there is no solution for this at the present time.
