Hi, I'm having an issue where the dagger specialist feat isn't working, I have a level 10 rogue and they can only throw once per action. Am I supposed to use a different action besides the throw action, or is it just not working?
I was messing around with the feats in the base game and doing some testing. Without the mod, it seems that I can only throw one dagger even with the 3-throw feat (Dagger Specialist). Did you add something custom via your mod to get "the blade least expected" to appear?
I am questioning because I am designing a similar mod.
Hi it seems that I can only throw once and do not get the benefits of dagger specialist. Am I misinterpreting the skill or is it something else? Thanks.
So I got it all working but you may want to note that Dagger specialist is way stronger than your description says. You can only use the extra throws against enemies you have advantage on but they always sneak attack regardless of charges remaining so you sneak attack 3 times per round with this. Not saying if that's good or bad just figure it should be mentioned in the mod description.
You are right, I updated the description as follows:
Dagger Specialist is passive feature that lets a creature throw up to three daggers per round. This feature is enabled by making a throw attack using a dagger and gives you two instances of "The Blade Least Expected". This is a special attack that you can use by throwing a dagger. When you make this attack you add your sneak attack damage to the attack damage. That means you get to do 3 sneak attacks per round.
If I could make a request, would you be able to give rogues a dagger throw that scales with dexterity to compliment the rest of the mod. For some reason finesse thrown attacks still always use str for the attack roll and I can't find a mod that would fix it.
Also in your images you appear to be adding double proficiency to dagger throws with Dagger Thrower and also doubling the damage dice as well and I have no earthly idea how it did 1+4+8 equals 22. Can you verify that it is working and adding everything correctly?
That will work but only if you want to go tavern brawler, which I prefer to avoid as it honestly feels too strong, and it would still add strength as the first part of the roll regardless as it only changes tavern brawler itself. So for instance with 8 str and 18 dex with that feat your attack rolls would get -1 and +4.
The finesse option of the mod will select dex if dex is higher on attack rolls, unfortunately this is the only mod that uses dex. For a nerfed version, you can also try this https://www.nexusmods.com/baldursgate3/mods/2843. Honestly haven't tried those on throwing builds. If you are planning to multiclass with ranger, you can also try fighting style mods for thrown weapon fighting https://www.nexusmods.com/baldursgate3/mods/858.
No the finesse version very explicitly only changes the tavern brawler stat. It will still add str as well for the base stat. And tavern brawler raw has nothing at all to do with throwing lol so that certainly doesn't help. Honestly I might just force a monk multiclass or mod it so rogues just get martial arts since that's the only thing I've seen that makes throwing daggers work like 5e

It is working as expected. In the screenshot I am throwing a +1 dagger, Murderous cut. I also have the tavern brawler feat in this build which causes the damage to be added twice. So the damage is (1 + 4 + 8 + 1 + 8). The damage log with the thrown weapons can be awkward at times.

That is a good suggestion but I am currently busy trying to change the magical daggers to apply their effects to compliment this mod. For instance if you make a melee attack with Ritual dagger you get the bless effect but if you make a thrown weapon attack the bless effect is not applied. I would like to change all daggers to apply their magical effects which would allow for some strategic and fun gameplay. So far I am not successful though m-)
Assuming this adds the abilities directly to the rogue main class progression it should work perfectly with rogues extra as that doesn't touch the main class progression until 13 to my knowledge. It will likely conflict with cunning strike as both attempt to modify the level 5 rogue progression but that could be fixed if the mod author is willing to just either shift it down to level 4 or possibly make a patch that includes both level 5 progressions combined
I briefly checked rogues extra and skystryke468 is right. Anything that would interact with these rogue levels on the main progression would conflict with this mod.
Just saw this mod pop up during updates! I've been really keen (no pun intended, I swear) to do a daggers only character, so this fits the bill perfectly. Thank you!

Once you throw the dagger the ability to throw more daggers should pop up in the usable ability list.
Good luck with the mod!
Is there any way you could make an optional version that allows the feats to be selected when levelling up instead ?
Thanks!
