It's patch day! Please be patient as modders test and update their mods. You can see my progress wrt my own mods here. This mod has been updated for Patch 8! Turns out the .pak version of the mod just needed to be repacked to work with the patch; no other changes were made, and the loose files still work!
(For mod authors struggling with mods that are broken in the patch, even though they have no reason to be: try repacking it! It might not actually need to be updated beyond that. I'm not the only person who has had issues like this, and it might be all you need, too.)
my apologies, i wasnt intending to come across as asking for any content, i was just simply curious and i genuinely forget sometimes that the description extends past the requirements and download links. thank you for taking the time to reply and thank you for taking the time to code these mods!
Thank you for being understanding + clarifying!! I'm sorry for being a bit sharp in my response, I do sometimes assume questions like this are requests and it stresses me out a bit. Thank you for letting me know that wasn't the case though! (And yww re: the coding!! 🌟🌼)
Also to explain the mod a bit, and why it doesn't affect AA, the camera angles for this mod have to be individually configured at different points in a timeline; think of it like editing different parts of a movie! While AA and spawn Astarion's final romance scenes are both in this file, they're essentially different parts of that "movie", and editing one part of it won't change the other parts. It's not so much a fix for the angle vs me configuring the camera motion myself through the XML!
I've got some resources on how I do stuff like this here if you want to know more!
"but I thought it'd be nice to give him that privacy at the end of the scene."
Wild to be worried about the privacy of a fictional character in literal sex scenes that you can turn nudity on and off for. This would have been so good if you didn't edit things out that was specifically put there.
There's no nudity in the cutscene regardless, the camera cuts away from them in the vanilla game already, and you can just turn depth of field off if you really want to. Don't be rude.
It doesn't remove content though??? It just changes camera angles, and adds a depth of field effect at the end of the scene to mimic the camera cutaway that's already present in the original scene. And you can literally just disable depth of field in your graphics settings if you want to see the scene in full. It doesn't take away the rest of the scene, it ends exactly where the scene already ends in the vanilla game.
The mod is safe to remove even mid-playthrough, so you can try it yourself and see what I changed, even if you end up removing it.
- mod that changes camera to show a hidden animation - mod that further highlights the kiss animation instead of the vanilla cut that hides it as well. - said highlighted kiss animation is done in a way that in check with the context that Larian intended
- “waaah you edited out things”
I’m concerned about your lack of written and media literacy.
I'm just going by what is said here "It'll now show the characters from the side, and shifts the depth of field partway through the shot, to blur the characters. Like I mentioned for Wyll in the description for Wyll's Act 3 Romance Tweaks, Astarion also deserves some privacy just, because of everything he's been through. The leg thing will still be visible, but I thought it'd be nice to give him that privacy at the end of the scene." That wording makes it sound to me like the scene is censored from what is originally present, specifically to give more 'privacy'. If that's not the case, great! I can't wait to add it. Thank you for clearing up the misunderstanding magnetuning.
Aimryax, though, you claim my media literacy is low (a wildly overused phrase not even being used correctly here) despite the fact I am going specifically by the words on the screen and clearly I'm not the only person who thought this. The mod author was very kind and professional with correcting the misunderstanding, you however seemed like you couldn't help yourself from being snide. I'm rather concerned that you can't read a comment of someone with an apparent mild misunderstanding because of how something was worded without acting rude and nasty about it.
I originally thought the same because I have never seen that cutscene in game. Reading these posts cleared it up for me. For those who may be in the same boat, the cutscenes are the same aside from the leg thing. The cutscene in the vanilla game is "censored" as well. So you aren't missing out on anything.
I love your mod "Hug your Companions" and the Dialogue Fix for Astarion - can't live without them anymore! And this one is amazing too (although I will only use it from time to time, because I like to see Astarions face in the scene. Wish both would be possible, but there are for sure limitations, so absolutely no critique!!!). I wondered, if you would be interested in changing the camera angle in the kissing scene from Astarion a little bit. The one, when he leans over to Tav. It drives me mad, that I can't see, what is happening and even miss his cute little smile. If you are not interested, that's ok <3 Thank you for your hard work, really appreciate it!!!
I'm excited for this mod, and I have to tell you, when I browsed through the images and saw the last picture of consent, I almost destroyed my keyboard with my drink. Haha joke aside thank you so much!
Would you be able to post an optional file that doesn't alter other parts of the scene? I'd love to use this mod, but not if it's going to take away from the rest of the scene.
"The mod also changes the final shot of the scene, to work a bit better with the first camera angle I changed (and also by request from a friend). It'll now show the characters from the side, and shifts the depth of field partway through the shot, to blur the characters. Like I mentioned for Wyll in the description for Wyll's Act 3 Romance Tweaks, Astarion also deserves some privacy just, because of everything he's been through. The leg thing will still be visible, but I thought it'd be nice to give him that privacy at the end of the scene."
That makes it sound like the rest of the scene was altered in addition to shifting the camera to see the "leg thing." Without video to compare the two, I can't tell what was changed, and only have the mod description and these comments to go off of. The mod description makes it sound like the modder "censored" the scene to give Astarion privacy, which, to me, means "taking away" content. I've read through the modder's other comments, but I don't know enough about this to understand what they're talking about. Would you be able to describe it? Or link a video that showcases the differences?
Very cool of you to cut off the last sentence of that paragraph in my description:
"The vanilla game tilts the camera away from them in a similar spot, and the DoF edit is designed to mirror that."
You know you could simply play through the scene without the mod, and then play through it again with it installed to see the changes. You do, in fact, have more to go on than just the mod description if you were willing to test it yourself. I'm in grad school and I have an actual job, and have not had the time or energy to release a video of this yet. But anyone who has seen Spawn Astarion's graveyard scene would know what I'm referring to regardless; the fact you don't is not my problem. Please download the mod and test it for yourself before commenting again. You are not helpless in this situation and you are, in fact, capable of telling the differences ingame—I believe in you 👍
Works like charm. It's really interesting to see the scene from a different angle. Now I can't help but wonder what other cool scenes would look like if you could just adjust camera angles freely? Awesome idea by the way. I had no idea you could do such things at all.
Thank you so much!!! And I actually think I might've been the first person to change camera angles like this? I have other mods that change camera angles, like Epilogue Kisses for Wyll, Wyll's Act 3 Romance Tweaks, Shadowheart Judgement Cam, and I actually just put together an entirely new cutscene, for my mod Brightest Star! You can find some guides to how I do dialog and camera edits like this here, actually. There's a lot more you can do to edit scenes like this; that collection of guides also includes a mod with a new voiced NPC!
...Sorry to just toss a ton of my work like that at you, I'm just really excited about all of the possibilities with it shdfjkfgjkfdlk There are actually a lot of hidden things like this you can uncover by changing camera angles! There's some other ones I'd like to do when I have time, possibly starting with this unique interaction Wyll has with Astarion. He actually puts his hand over his heart when he tells him "you can always look to me," but the camera is normally cropped too close to actually see it!
Are there any plans to make this mod available through the ingame mod manager they recently added? ^^ Starting a new playthrough soon and I'd love to include this <3
Regarding multiplayer, do we al need to isntall it? Or just the host?
Unfortunately I don't actually think I can upload this mod to mods.io; dialog mods aren't available on the platform atm, iirc. You'll still need to use BG3 Mod Manager or the loose files for them, I believe! The mod is also actually an override; it'll affect your game if it's in your Mods folder, even if it's not in your load order.
As for multiplayer, you'll all need to have the same mods and mod load order, including your loose file mods! Not having the same mods or mod load order can cause a lot of issues for multiplayer, including game crashes iirc. So you'll want to make sure that's consistent for all of you!
You, sir, are a gentleman and a scholar. Thank you!! <3
I've also heard that Astarion actually grabs his partner's butt during one of his kisses, but it's also hidden due to camera angles. Might that also be...showable, by any chance?
Just a heads up: when I had Long Rest Bugfix installed, it instantly cut back to camp of my character sleeping when I picked the option of knocking boots. Update: Ok, spoke too soon. That was when using DirectX instead of Vulkan. When using Vulkan, same thing happened again. Update 2: Again, spoke too soon. This time, it worked with Vulkan like it should. No idea what happened.
