yeah this is crazy, you're not the only one asking for this. This post and the others have no replies. I don't understand how someone could put so much work into a mod and then simply not include instructions on how to install it.
A good way to figure out how to install mods is to download the file, extract it and take a look at the folder structure. In this case when you extract and open the "Bay's Alien Isolation Overhaul" folder you will find a folder named "DATA". There is also a "DATA" folder in the main alien isolation game folder, so (...steamapps/common/AlienIsolation), that is where you would want to put the mods "DATA" folder.
Edit: Also don't forget to overwrite when asked. You can always copy the games "DATA" folder and save it to desktop before you overwrite it, then copy it back over later if you want to uninstall the mod.
FOR THOSE OF YOU DEALING WITH MAX AUDIO ISSUES, HERE IS THE SOLUTION:
1. Install Notepad++ 2. Go to your steamapps\common\Alien Isolation\DATA and locate the ENGINE_SETTINGS.XML file 3. Open ENGINE_SETTINGS.XML in Notepad++ 4. Scroll down until you find a section that looks like this:
As far as I can tell, this hasn't changed anything except for the lights on my game. The Alien might even be more clingy than before. Is it supposed to follow you so aggressively in San Cristobal Medical? Does it get untethered after that point in the game?
Yeah, I'm in the same place and it's barely leaving my side. Even if I hide in one spot, it just paces in front of the door for the room I'm hiding in.
I wish you did a version where footsteps is les, vanilla is to heavy but, completely cancelling footnoise is abit harsh, atleast for my liking. Otherwise good job

I understand that the time was reduced...
I have also shortened the time allowed to crack codes via the hack-tool.
...by a small amount, around one second.
Does anyone know how to increase those times..? I feel for me playing in VR its needed.
Thanks for any help
And thanks for this mod :)
1. Install Notepad++
2. Go to your steamapps\common\Alien Isolation\DATA and locate the ENGINE_SETTINGS.XML file
3. Open ENGINE_SETTINGS.XML in Notepad++
4. Scroll down until you find a section that looks like this:
<Setting name="Multithreaded Shadow Rendering">
<Quality name="Off" bool="0" precedence="2"/>
<Quality name="On" bool="1" precedence="1"/>
</Setting>
</Setting>
<Setting name="Audio">
<Setting name="SFX Volume">
<Quality name="10" float="1.0" precedence="11"/>
<Quality name="9" float="0.9" precedence="10"/>
<Quality name="8" float="0.8" precedence="9"/>
<Quality name="7" float="0.7" precedence="8"/>
<Quality name="6" float="0.6" precedence="7"/>
<Quality name="5" float="0.5"
5. This section is the problem; it breaks the "Audio" setting detection.
</Setting>
</Setting>
6. Highlight and erase ONE "</Setting>" so that your ENGINE_SETTINGS.XML file looks like this:
<Setting name="Multithreaded Shadow Rendering">
<Quality name="Off" bool="0" precedence="2"/>
<Quality name="On" bool="1" precedence="1"/>
</Setting>
<Setting name="Audio">
<Setting name="SFX Volume">
<Quality name="10" float="1.0" precedence="11"/>
<Quality name="9" float="0.9" precedence="10"/>
<Quality name="8" float="0.8" precedence="9"/>
<Quality name="7" float="0.7" precedence="8"/>
<Quality name="6" float="0.6" precedence="7"/>
<Quality name="5" float="0.
7. Save the file and enjoy playing Alien: Isolation!
whatever makes the game more “terrifying” but less “game-y” at the same time Im all for it
