Velen, Novigrad and Toussaint have never looked so good. Can you release a 1.4 version with brighter nights? The nights get even darker with ray tracing on, too dark.

Ok ,I've added a 1.4 brighter nights version. It's like 50% brighter but still not as bright as vanilla

Thanks for the update. Even though Geralt can see well in the dark, vanilla lighting at night is way too bright. I appreciate what you're doing with this mod. However, I think it needs to be brighter yet to compensate for ray tracing. I had to compare screenshots to see the difference. I have gamma set in the middle, any higher and the fog at night will have noticeable banding. And some indoor locations like the White Orchard inn are still very dark.

That being said, I think it's perfect for non-ray tracing.

Like i previously mentioned somewhere the brightness of the nights depends on many factors, including monitor gamma settings, game gamma settings, monitor type and so on. The mod is optimal on IPS monitors, because that's the monitor i use,TN panels or  OLED panels maybe look different, to me the nights are not dark at all, only spookier. Now i understand CDPRs decision making the nights bright.Maybe if you not done it already, try to calibrate your monitor through windows, paying attention to the gamma settings slider,if not correctly showing you can even adjust the gamma through the monitor settings, and lastly the brightness/gamma setting ingame.Hope that would help

Thanks for the reply. I'm using an ASUS TUF Gaming VG27AQL1A, it's an IPS monitor. I have it calibrated. I'm providing a couple of screenshots for reference.

It could just be a matter of personal preference. It's certainly playable the way it is.

That's comparable to what I get with Vanilla lighting.

Anyway, thanks for the update. Version 1.5 is good, it's noticeably brighter. The nights are darker than vanilla lighting but still reasonable for gameplay.

This mod is really excellent, really good. nevertheless, the lighting transition when you enter a building at night breaks the immersion. In addition, the lighting in buildings are poorly adapted to the region: too dark in Skellige (light source, same the torch), too bright in Novigrad (notably in the inns and in the Passiflora), especially buildings with windows, the lighting of windowless buildings is perfect, this being probably due to the fact that the light in the windows at night appears as if the night was like vanilla (very bright)... while it is perfect at white orchard (which makes sense) and toussaint.
It's a shame, because apart from that, the light and night/day management is perfect.

Thank you anyway for this fabulous mod.

PS: in kaer morhen, the shadows are weird with the return of HBAO+.

PS : Tested with no other light or weather mods, No RT, dx12 full ultra +, and with several hours to manage gamma in game and my monitor setting.

EDITED: we can compensate with "SWWS" and "Darker Night", it's not perfect, but already much better.

Hello . for me it is clearly a better option           -         WoLighting 1.3 Darker Nights

transitions from buildings to outside or into a cave are natural if you want to upload . okay

I managed to compensate the interiors by tweaking the HBAO+/SSAO (via a custom.ini), and the interiors are almost perfect and realistic,
as well as the interior / exterior transition. However, nothing to do in Skellige for the night, the light sources are not bright enough compared to other regions, as if the gamma was on "very dark". Maybe due to the "True fire" mod, which for me is a must have, but it only happens in Skellige, and on all light sources.

    [Changed]

Great mod, thanks! But we really need a version with lighter nights. I liked the brightness of the nights in 1.2.3, but I would still like to use the current version of the mod with all the innovations, but with lighter nights. It would also be nice if you returned the movement of the sun in all regions as it was in the original.

I want to thank you. I can't play with the original lighting at all because it sucks ass. I think your mod is the best at the moment. To it, I add a mod that turns off the backlight in cut scenes, the HBAO+ mod and get my ideal witcher. Thank you very much, I really hope that you will bring the mod to perfection.

Just downloaded. I can't thank you enough!!  This is the only lighting mod I used in the classic game and refused to play without it. Now I can use this in the next gen update. You've just made me very happy. Thank you for your time and efforts!

"Fixed",still i really didn't though that as a bug, because the Continent is not Earth. But hey,at least it's consistent now in all regions ,also White Orchard.

I appreciate your work, but why make nights darker? I know there's a separate version with brighter nights, but we can't manually pick regions we want.

It was my original goal, that's why.I kinda gave up on it,because i couldn't figure out the transition from cutschene to gameplay at night. But after finding how to ,i brought it back. The nights are really not that dark if you setup your gamma settings right.

I might sound like a whiny kid here, but maybe you're up for it, so I should just ask: Could you make an even brighter version for night time and caves? I love WO lighting in Toussaint, but idk if I have bad eye sight but I hate having to squint every time the sun sets. If you don't want to, it's okay, it's just that it doesn't cost to ask.

You can try to up the gamma settings ingame at noon until it barely starts to wash the image out and then meditate to midnight and see if it makes any difference. Also if you are using a TN monitor, try changing the gamma settings a bit.Maybe that'll help.

yeah I managed to calibrate the image a little and it's much better at night, but inside caves it still feels like the only way to see is by using cat potion, which I guess should be the point of it anyway, so maybe I'll just get used to it, thanks.

That should not be the case, are you using the all in one version or only toussaint with another visual mod for the other regions. It's known to me that the caves in Toussaint become really dark if WOLToussaint is used with STLM

Try 1.4.The caves are a bit brighter than vanilla. And the nights are really not that dark. But you need to save before entering a cave.Ideally save at Corvo Bianco and fast travel to a cave

hell yeah, 1.4 is definitely much better both at night and inside caves, I hadn't tried it cause I was focused on the "brighter nights" part. Thanks again for this awesome mod.
