    Vikart,

You are doing yourself a disfavor by abandoning this mod, it is a wonderful lighting that many use till this very day.
It is incredibly real, stunning, realistic, color and shadows balanced and completely removes the blue fog, something even Essenthy could not managed to do.
I have no clue why you would not expand this further into all areas of Witcher world, you have such a talent for lighting.

Please expand this, we love this lighting, it is far better than the overhyped and overdone Turbo lighting.

Hi I really prefer this mod over Supertubo lighting, because the mountains in the distance are too overexposed. But this version keeps a nice balence between enhancing the original game and keeping the same kind of look. The thick blue fog in the vanilla game is obv meant to cover up the shorter draw distance on lower settings. Is there any was you will update this mod to work with the latest patch or continue to support it after blood and wine?

Great mod, but it is no longer compatible with the current version of the game.

Really? Cause I too prefer this mod over STLM 2 and would love to know it is still compatible with the new patches and expansions (haven't tried yet).

A merge between this and Swamp Zone Lighting was the perfect way to go for me before

      @vikart
Hello again, i have a problem..
I reinstalled the whole game with all 16 dlc and mods i used before, because an other mod made my game to crash during savegame load and the issue stayed after deleting that mod, so after a clean reinstall of everything, the game works great again, but your mod does not look that it works like before, maybe it does all the changes you made, but not that reduced or removed blue shine and fog, i also use that compatible sweetfx you recommend, just i did before, but the blue shine over everything is still there, i assure you that it was not before with your mod.
      Please help!

STLM (Super Turbo Lighting mod) is the succesor to this mod and is linked on the description page. It does much of the same things but is more refined. Perhaps it works better for you? A made another version of my preset that is compatible with it.

      Edit:
Well, the i tried both versions with your sweetfx compatibilities, but the blue is more noticable unfortunately, it appears more on black and dark textures while they are in shadow, but while in light its less noticable.

Got any examples of this with the examples of this using the warm (default) STLM colours? For me the shadows using my preset looks pretty black to me. (Example below)
      http://orig07.deviantart.net/7e35/f/2015/259/d/8/witcher3_2015_09_15_20_45_40_by_mezziaz-d99t76t.png

In the cold one I can admit there is some blue, because if I try to hard to countering the blue with yellow to make the visuals more warm they will seize to appear, well... cold. (Sadly Reshade does not give you as much control over the visuals as an ENB so can't perfect everything sadly)

At least we figured out that you can still use lighting mods. It's a big mystery however I must say that this particular lighting mod stopped working for you. :/

Edit: Now that STLM 1.0.3 is released the game should look less blue in some interiors like caves and in cutscenes and the mod now uses the same lighting everywhere.

OK, i'm gonna try STLM 1.0.3 too. ;)
      Edit:
I just saw that you have also some optional files which are replacing the "SweetFX_settings.txt", but what is the differece between the main file "Project Destiny E3 2014 STLM" and the optional file "PDE314 Standard - Super Turbo Lighting Mod compatibility"?
Do you have comparison images main vs optional?
Or shall i use it without any sweetfx?
      Edit2:
Well, i tried everything, the blacks are shining blue in shadows anyway, but now i tried Vikart's mod without any sweetfx and the blue shine is less noticable, but not removed at all!
I guess i keep it like it is right now and hope for a version or other mod that removes that blue 100% for good!
Thank you very much for your help. :)

The main STLM version uses Reshade Framework which adds effects such as ambient light, lens flares depth of field etc at the cost of some performance.

All the "standard" files uses SweetFX only, so it is just colour changes with barely any performance hit.

Dear Vikart and all modders community. Exists a plagiarist coping your mods throug improper ways. That element copy your archives and post these archives in a brasilian group of The Witcher 3 in facebook, as if he it was the real owner of these archives. The page in youtube of this element is here, see for yourself what he's doing:

imitation is the purest form of flattery.

We all know that Vik did it, who cares what they're upto in Brasil.

Iran has its own Nexus and so does Russia (both total rip offs of course) where you can download not just the mods but also THE FULL GAME and all dlc's lmao !!

Its just silly to worry about who does what in other countries, perfect example, the mess in Middle East.

I agree with @Jas39Gripen, it's the purest form of flattery if so. And I'm from Brazil, I know how things work there. Who downloads this probably doesn't even know English, Nexus or even modders. It would be useless to try to credit everything in the entire world, and everybody here knows who are the real creators of the amazing mods around.

You cannot remove the distant fog, it is hard coded.

The Fog is hard coded into the Red Engine 2, it is done because it shares console limitations imposed by PS4 and Xbone, Red Engine 2 has been rewritten in 2013 when Microsoft and Sony offered to pay for Witcher 3 development.

Basically CDPR sold us PC gamers out in favour of consoles.

Jas is 100% right, if anyone could have gotten rid off the fog, KNG who is LIGHT YEARS ahead of you, you little con artist, would have done it.
99% of the options are hard coded in Red Engine and if you knew anything about modding, you would know that this tool kit is not the real deal, we are still waiting for the proper engine modding toolkit.

moonknight1993 how many mods have you made on Nexus ?
      I smell a Xbone fanboy .

Consoles have EVERYTHING to do with it, even Marcin Momot admitted that certain "adjustments" were made since the original game was presented in 2013 to make the "transition" onto consoles a lot easier.

But of course you would have to visit Official Witcher forums to know any of that.

SensaDelores, chill out, it's not the same preset as KNG and Essenthy use.

At least, my preset has full-working water reflections

And consider ModKit: REDs has shipped many unused libraries from the full version with it. And we could do something with them.

      FoliageShadowDistanceScale=68

Set that in User.ini along with either Kng's cutscene lighting mod or Yalm, you will see everything reflect in the water in the distance, buildings, trees and clouds.
It is not exclusive to "your" mod mate.
It is one of the options that actually still can be changed and improved along with grass and some other small bits and pieces.

PS, the fog in the distance is just as evident as it is in other lighting mods, so i don't see where you actually changed anything.

@Jas39Gripen: We weren't able to see the mountains in the far distance this clearly before in the Velen area, even with YALM.

Is the blue distance fog completely gone with this? No

Is there less of it? Yes

The blue distance fog was probably added by CDPR as a last minute replacement for the volumetric fog tech that can be seen all over the Sword of Destiny trailer and as a way to mask the LoD problems, they just went a bit overboard with it.

This is just me speculating however.

Mezziaz, volumetric lighting was removed in favour of consoles, they simply did not possess sufficient computing power to run an open world game like the witcher 3.
Even after all the changes to the Red Engine, both consoles STRUGGLE to run this game at a steady 30 fps.
As to the Yalm vs this ? well, with the right amount of env blend along with Dof set to off and sharpening set to high, SweetFx's tonemap and few other settings, i almost completely removed the distant fog, and of course setting TextureMipBias=-1, did the trick.

Jas39Gripen: Yes, complications to the game were made during development as the new consoles were weaker than expected and CDPR did not have the resources to make separate builds for console and PC which is very unfortunate.

At least with all these mods coming out were are slowly getting closer to the visual fidelity shown in earlier trailers and I'm praying the new Redkit will come out sooner rather than later.

Agreed, we need proper tools, to mod the actual Engine, like with Red kit for witcher 2.

      r3v4n21
"It also makes this blue dense fog less noticeable"
You know why ? because the fog has been recoloured to blend in better with the horizon.
I was speaking in general terms, as to the pictures ? lol i see more fog here than i see with CL mod and Yalm.
I also tested this lighting and i am 100% convinced that the fog is identical in its volume and distance, the only difference is that this lighting mod hides it a little bit better.......

Understand this mate, FOG IS HARD CODED, it is part of the Red Engine, it can only be removed with Developer tools, which were do not have.(and probably never will)
I wish you guys would visit Witcher forums where you can actually speak to the representatives of CDPR like Marcin Momot, instead of speculating on Nexus.
Till the right tools arrive, it cannot be either removed nor lessened, it is the price we pay for console fanboys.

We PC gamers always find a way to make things better and this mod is just one example of it. More will follow and I have high hopes that eventually the modding community will bring back all the E3 2013/2014 eye candies back in the game. So let's think positive and work together so we can create some more amazing contents.

You played Witcher 3 more than once? I only finished it once and thought I was done with it for a very long time. Until of course Essenthy decided to create his Super Turbo Lighting Mod (STLM) making the game look a lot prettier so I'm gonna play it again when that comes out. About your playthroughs, the trick is NOT to play this game consecutively and give a few months break before picking it up again so you can get a fresh perspective of the game while keeping the repetitious cycles at the minimum.

r3v4n21 Listen. Don't get mad at Jas39Gripen. If you've read and seen all the Witcher 3 downgrade articles/videos, you'll get mad too. Heck, I was a staunch supporter of CDPR. I praised them for being one of the awsm companies who are genuine to their fans. But after Witcher 3, that perspective was shattered, all because of the shady things they pulled off.

Also look at the mod scenes. The author of this mod managed to lessen the distant fog dramatically. Essenthy's STLM is bringing back vibrant color and lighting back into the game. Mezziaz used his brilliant Reshade/SweetFX preset to bring back color depth and sharpness and other eye candies of the game AND THEY'RE JUST ONE PERSON. While CDPR who has over 200 staff made a true next gen graphical game then decided to smear yellow/orange dye the screen lighting with jelly water, cardboard grass and fog machine in the distance, just to name a few.

I saw the downgrade videos. I just got over it instead of searching for someone to get mad at. I never cared about graphics as much as I did about gameplay and story. I also understand their buissness decision of taking the money from Sony and Microsoft. Without it, the game may never have been completed. The downgrade was even good for me. My PC isnt the best and im barely over the minimum requiremnts
In the end you could blame the gaming industry for being what it is. The last people to blame are console players because they really didnt cause the downgrade. They are just consumers like PC players.
So I can understand your rage, but I dont understand why the hell this topic gets rolled out by this guy under almost every mod on the Nexus. Its a topic for the The Witcher Forums, not for the mod comment section.

That's the thing, the Witcher Forum mods do not allow this discussion anymore, because most people go on child tantrums instead of doing polite posts, which I can understand, I did not give a crap about the graphics downgrade, but after playing the game and seeing lighting mods that do bring back the "feel" of pre-downgrade graphics, I do feel betrayed now.

But ... Without consoles, they would never have sold 6 million copies nor completed developing the game, the industry is just crap and needs to change, but it won't, if CDPR of all people had to downgrade their game just to get it out on stores just tells you how bad the industry's current state is.

You hate so much talking about this that you answer every post that i or anyone else that mentions the consoles.

You have a choice, get pro active and try to change things with us or be quiet and suffer in silence, and if you don't suffer, then the is no reason for you to get involved, full stop.

I also rage because i have an Nvidia Surround (3 SCREENS) with 2 Titan X and i can barely get 60 fps in 4k, that is a travesty, the game had 10 PATCHES and still the sli is stuffed, Nvidia released SLi bits ages ago and by now CDPR (if they cared for pc gamers) would have fixed it or at least made it more friendly but no, they still have not done that.
Sure it is also partly Nvidia's fault but i am a strong believer that it takes two to tango.

There is a lot more to Witcher 3 console engine that you know nothing about, you want to sit with your hands behind you back and cop it ? BE MY GUEST, but don't criticize us because we want what's best for PC gamers, after all you are a PC gamer, because if you were a fanboy, you would not be on NEXUS.

"But ... Without consoles, they would never have sold 6 million copies nor completed developing the game"
Nonsense, there are ten times more PC gamers than fanboys, besides, fanboys are almost always broke, hence why they get a console and not a proper pc.

They would have made lots of money and have the whole PC communitie's admiration and devotion, but they tried to please everyone, BIG MISTAKE.
Now pc community is pissed off as well as fanboys because their machines can't even run this game at 30 FPS, that's after raping the graphics from the PC version.

@RickMorano I really hope you are being sarcastic, because if not, then I am afraid you have no idea of the current state of gaming.

Witcher 1 and Witcher 2 sold 7 million copies combined, from what I remember, Witcher 3 sold 6 million in a month, do you really think they would have sold this much while being a PC only game? Sure, it may have looked as good as it was in the trailers, but would it have been that successful? I highly doubt that.

"There are ten times more PC gamers than fanboys".

Only in a perfect world I am afraid.

This video is a hardcore example of how CDPR "Consolized" Witcher 3. Almost all these great effects are missing. And don't tell me PCs won't handle it cause there's 970, 980 and 980TI that does 120+ fps for Witcher 3. Clearly, PCs can handle it. I don't know if bringing back all these effects are even possible, maybe with the REDKIT it is but hey, we won't know till CDPR releases it would we?

KingHochmeister Not exactly. Witcher 3 sold 1.3 million PC copies in less than a month. which already covers their cost of development and marketing money plus a bit of extra profit and more copies are being sold now so they've already profited. So clearly CDPR could've kept Witcher 3 a PC only title with 2013 graphics, released the REDKIT, then later ported the game to consoles with the inferior graphics as seen today (Like was the case with Witcher 2). Everyone would've been happy.

There was a financial investor event for CDPR recently and it had some info of their profit.

      Check this http://forums.cdprojektred.com/threads/34395-DISCUSSION-Witcher-3-News?p=1899159&viewfull=1#post1899159

GOG got one million activations alone, add 700k copies on steam and you have 1.7 million copies on PC out of the 6 million copies, that is a very good percentage for PC sales, but I was referring to the statement that there are more PC gamers than console "fanboys", that statement is false.

CDPR also made some stupid decisions, like putting themselves in a corner by announcing expansions that would take away their time to develop Redkit 2 and fix some of the story issues the game has in the last act, I am not trying to defend CDPR, but no one would say their move to the console market did not pay off, even though it came with a heavy price for the PC version.

In 2005, PC popularity was 1.17% of consoles.

In 2012, PC popularity was 7.49% of consoles. (ALL CONSOLES, FROM THE OLD ATARI to the current ps4 and xbone 1)

      +5863% PC gain from 2005 to 2012.

+916% combined console gains from 2005 to 2012.

PCs have increased six times as much as consoles have.

PCs are trending up much faster than consoles.

Consoles won 2006 growth rates. PC and Console both saw huge gains in 2007, with consoles maintaining momentum and PCs doubling their growth. This could imply that many console gamers were purchasing PCs or playing a greater period of time on PCs than they used to.
While PC game sales fell in 2007 and 2008 (source is 99% of gaming news sites), actual PC gameplay rose. The media may also be failing to take into account that 2007 saw the after-holiday purchase rush of PS3 and Wii games, which continued well into 2008. The media also combined game and hardware sales into one figure, which is misleading, as money spent on hardware is money not spent on software.
Aka, just because a lot of fanboys are buying consoles, it does not mean that they can afford the games as well, figures do not show that distinction.

All games should be first made on PC and then ported onto consoles and not visa versa, that is where the whole problem lies.

First: i really like the mod, great work!

      @Jas39Gripen

Are you serrious? CDPR has released one of the best games in my living memory. There is so much content, such an dynamic and interraktiv world. There are hours and hours of content and the graphics are still some of the best you can get these days.
Its not easy to find such a complete game.
On the risk off getting my post deleted i will say this: you act childish and arrogant (refering to the cheaters and liars comment in the last post)

And to the rest of you: bashing CDPR for making the game for consoles aswell, seriously? CDPR i a company and they need to make money, do you really think they would just go "no we can make more money if we make it for consoles aswell, but f*ck it i don`t want to". Would any of you not make the game multiplatform if it made you more money? And don`t even bother lying.
CDPR is not microsoft, not activision they don`t have an ulimited supply of founds.
So stop this bashing and enjoy the fantastic game we now have!

I play on my PC (so no console fanboy rants please)

Honestly, I don't care for their budget, what I care is to get the game that they presented in 2013, if that means not to sell their product on Consoles market (compromising big portion of the game because CDPR choose the opposite, quality wise), then answers is easy YES, less quantity, more quality, and let's not forget CDPR was heavy-driven PC studio, this was the reason why they get their reputation among the player base, but unfortunately was, now they're just another studio that tries to please consoles!...

Wow... People are still going on about this? Does the game look like and have all the effects from those trailers? Nope. Does the game look great? Yep. Do we have support from CDPR for modding? Yep. Enjoy the game or don't. Pc's are always going to be held back by consoles. It's just how it is. PC's have constant component upgrades, yearly leaps in performance. Consoles don't have that luxury. But ignoring the console market is just plain stupid from a business standpoint.

Think for just 1 minute. If the facts are in that 1.3 million copies of The Witcher 3 sold in the first month out of 6 million total sold that means that just over 20% of the sales were on PC. It was released on 3 platforms (PC, PS4, XBone) but only 1/5 were on PC. Stop and let the math sink in. To help, 4 out of 5 copies were sold on consoles... 80%.

So you like the Witcher games, yeah? You want to see what CDPR can put out in the future? Then don't knock the consoles. Think for another minute (I realize this is difficult in your rage filled head but bear with me). Suppose the above assumption that 1.3million copies is enough to cover development, marketing and also have a nice little profit. A nice little profit isn't enough to fund another game launch and raise CDPR to a level that investors will want to put money into. Another point - if the game was not being released on consoles, there wouldn't be as much publicity surrounding it (all the PS4 and XBone material) which would have kept it off of many PC Gamer's radars. I only knew about the Witcher 2 because I had by chance picked up the first game at the store on a whim. So my eyes were open and I saw the XBox 360 version on the shelf at a department store (later picking it up for PC on Steam). I saw no promotional material for the Witcher 2. So how many less copies would have been sold on PC without the console release? My anecdote may not be solid figures but it's something to consider.

It comes down to money, children. Yeah I hate the stuff in principle, but there isn't a better option out there, and money is always going to govern what we get in gaming. If you want to get mad at anyone, get upset with Microsoft and Sony for putting sub-par hardware into the consoles. The GPU's in them were already dated and mid-range when announced, much less released. Stop ranting on a mod-maker's comment page that's a mod making the game look better for goodness sake!

Side note: the SLI issue mentioned is entirely on Nvidia's shoulders. It's all handled by the driver and CDPR can't do a thing about it. SLI and CrossfireX are basically driver hacks to make two cards work as one. All drivers. CDPR can do nothing. Go rant on the Nvidia forums.

EDIT: Just saw the last post before mine. CDPR was NOT a PC focused studio originally. They have made exactly 3 games, 2 of which are on console. I bet you can guess what all the games are... They started off as a polish localization studio, doing polish localization for the likes of Baldur's Gate and Neverwinter Nights. The Witcher 1 was on PC only because they were able to get the rights to use Bioware's Aurora engine (a company they already had a relationship with.) The Aurora Engine had no console support and indeed wouldn't have worked well on consoles so there was never and likely will never be a console port. 2/3 of their own work is on consoles and PC. Don't make the false argument they were a PC only developer who sold out because it's simply false.

Thought i'd let you know, for a person who is advocating a resolution to this console vs PC issue on "someone" else's mod page, you have written the longest post out of anyone aka "rant" as you call it.

      Nuff said.

Side note: "the SLI issue mentioned is entirely on Nvidia's shoulders"
You have no idea what you're talking about, Nivida already explained that their SLI bit is working and its the Red Engine that causes the slowdowns, stutter and bad scaling, to top it off, each failed patch that CDPR released, broke SLI and CR even more.
Witcher 1 which was based on the old Bioware engine had perfect scaling in SLI and so did Witcher 2, perhaps because they were made for PC FIRST and consoles SECOND, that is right there is not error in my post, CDPR wanted to port Witcher 1 onto consoles as well, It was going to be called "RISE OF THE WHITE WOLF" but the project failed (thank god)
This whole issue is not about "should the games be made for consoles as well" it is about PORTING GAMES FROM CONSOLES INTO PC, not PC into Consoles.
By doing that all the companies are putting the horse in front of the cart, making the task a lot harder and then you get problems like Witcher 3 and many many other ports that made it unplayable on PC.

Follow Nvidia and Witcher forums more and "rant" less.

Jas39Gripen you've made an excellent point. Games should be ported from PC to consoles not the other way around. We're paying top dollar for PC hardware so we get extra graphics/fps/resolution options and there's no way we're gonna sit on our butts and watch console level graphics slapped in the faces of PCs. If Witcher 3 had 2013 graphics for PC and 2015 graphics for consoles, everyone would be happy and it would be a win win for all.

Also people who're saying, game is great, enjoy it...well of course it's great. It's an excellent game. That's not the point. That's just a poor console/CDPR fanboy excuse to divert/avoid the real issue which is graphics downgrade and inferior console port to PC.

      Amen.

Downgrading graphics from PC onto Consoles, will never upset the fanboys, why should it ? they know their pathetic hardware will never be a match for a decent pc.
Yet they still persist in doing it the other way around, why ?

PURE GREED, nothing more and nothing less, ironic because its actually easier to port from PC onto consoles than the other way around.

When i think about Crysis 2, it makes my blood boil, they destroyed this game because of console limitations, no more open world adventure like in Crysis, game was ruined and so was Crysis 3 to some extent.

Moving to ad hominem attacks. Wow. Sophisticated. You want to complain about the length of my writing? Look how much I've written on the whole thread compared to you. Yeah.

As my FINAL note in this conversation I would just like to say that I would LOVE it if we could have a game that looked like the 2013 trailer. Unfortunately, the fact is, we're not going to get it, so why all the complaining? It's POINTLESS and the, unless there's a huge change in the market, there isn't going to be the change you're asking for. Go complain to Microsoft and Sony, like I already said, and enjoy your darn game!

@mordek113: I really hope you're right but that just sounds as wishful thinking to me at this stage.

Had someone asked me a year ago I would say it was a given that CDPR would provide us with mind blowing visuals that would look outstanding for years to come (a la Crysis 1), a Redkit for modding as well an "Enhanced Edition" of the game down the line.

These days... well let's just say that this "new" CDPR has taught me to keep my exceptions low when it comes to them going the extra mile for their original fanbase.

At least they still make high quality games and the modkit, while extremely limited and problematic is still more than what most devs provide these days.

Just feels a bit sad there is now no developer left out there that I can put my 110% trust and faith in. CDPR is still one my favs, but they used to be my gods.

They refuse to release the redkit 2 for one reason only, they don't want us to see lines upon lines of Xbone and PS4 coding in it.
Don't kid yourself, releasing the proper modkit like they did with Witcher 2 is no rocket science.

They know they let pc gamers down, now they're finding excuses like "too busy working on the expansion" etc etc.
Right .....perhaps my hard earned money will go into Fallout 4 instead, and i will be too busy to notice any further Witcher 3 expansion CDPR
