About this mod

This patch will affect all weathers of Climates of Tamriel by JJC71

This patch was made for Climates of Tamriel v3.1! We have no intention to update it to v5.0 at this time. Please respect this decision.

Please READ the stickys is the comment section! They contain important information!

A crash on startup (right after the Bethesda logo) almost always means that you are missing a masterfile. Please check carefully that you have all the requirements for each module installed correctly and use BOSS or LOOT to sort your load order, before asking for help in the comment section.

Also, there is such a thing as a search function for the discussion tab. Go into forum view (click "View forum thread" in the top right corner) and notice the "This topic" filter next to the search bar. Please at least put some effort into figuring out whether your particular question has already been answered before asking. We're here to help, but it gets tiresome to repeat things over and over. Thankyou for your cooperation!

ITM records reported by load order tools (such as BOSS/LOOT) refer to ClimatesOfTamriel.esm, not Skyrim.esm - you can clean them, but they're harmless so it's not necessary.

Adjusting Foggy, Rainy, Overcast, Snowy, Clear and Cloudy weathers of Climates of Tamriel by JJC71
This is a collaboration project of prod80, Aiyen & Saerileth

CHANGES
• To get this straight from the start: This is tailored for use with ENB!
• Adds volumetric fog into foggy weathers (Fog Edition - works well with ENB only)
• Changes all Overcast, Rain, Snow and Fog type weathers entirely
• Fixed bright grass issue on all Overcast type weathers (Overcast, Rain, Fog)
• Fixed bright sunshine through the clouds on all Overcast types weathers (Overcast, Rain, Fog, Snow)
• Fixed extremely bright sun when not using CoT's default sun in Snow Clear weather types
• Added more sunshine into Cloudy weather types
• Changes all Sky gradients to be in line across all weathers for easy compatibility with ENB
• Changes distant fog color to be dynamic across different weather types (color and distance)
• Changes a lot of image spaces, removes "Blur Sky" for all but the appropriate weathers
• [Version 13 and up] Reduced blur on all IS (day/night) to a bare minimum
• [Version 13 and up] Redone all fog distances and colors on all weathers
• [Version 13 and up] Remove the "Red sun of CoT" from all weathers. It's gone. Daytime sun will always be white.
• Night image spaces have been adjusted for proper coloring at night time, comes with 4 new Night Levels (incompatible with CoT night levels!). Examples of Night Level plugins without ENB under various conditions can be found HERE. Going from No night Level, NL1, NL2, NL3, NL4, Fog NL4, Overcast NL4, Rain NL4.
• Night time ambient lighting has been corrected, no more glowing vegetation/trees at night
• Night time effect lighting has been adjusted on some weathers
• Tons and tons of little fixes left and right
• Compatibility available for MannyGT's Supreme Storms
• Compatibility available for JonusL2D's Expanded Snow Systems - Climates of Tamriel Version
• Options from Snow patch are included in the file and options in the NMM installer (bright snow fixes)

You need the original mod Climates of Tamriel by JJC71 v3.1 for this patch to work!

Load order: load after any other Climates of Tamriel plugin which is part of the main mod!

KNOWN ISSUES AND GAME ENGINE LIMITATIONS
• Due to engine limitations the volumetric fog will disappear after opening and closing world map. This is a vanilla problem and even in the vanilla game camera attached effects not created in the CK will cease to exist after opening world map.
• Due to yet another fine engine limit the fog will not nicely fade out when the weather changes to a non-foggy type, it will all be gone, all at once.
• If you do not get the 'blur' effect during heavy rain or fog and you do not have Dynavision installed, make sure you have this in SkyrimPrefs.ini, as it is important for the effects to show properly!

bDoDepthOfField=1

If that is already set in SkyrimPrefs.ini, then perhaps you run an ENB and you need to set 'RemoveBlur' under [FIX] to false in enbseries.ini or in enblocal.ini (depending on your Binary version)

[FIX]
RemoveBlur=false

Note that Climates of Tamriel is in no way a 'realistic' weather mod but strongly hints to the fantasy of the game. I have so, gone with the flow of the mod not trying to be fully realistic in my colors (but not very far off it either). Read note about Real Clouds (if you use) below!

As with the normal CoT - it takes 24h in game time (or until the first weather change) before this mod is active. So if you load your game and start in overcast weather, and it looks weird...(eg. the sun is still there) wait 24h and then see again.

Not happy with something? - leave suggestion, be constructive and perhaps I can alter settings or include more.

This mod is recommended by the following awesome ENB mods:
Skylight ENB by Aiyeen (co-producer of this weather patch)
RealVision ENB by SkyrimTuner
E ENB Final Edition by ewi65
Project ENB by bronze316
Vividian ENB by Mangaclub

LOAD ORDER
If you're also using Supreme Storms CoT version by MannyGT ( strongly suggested! Supreme Storms by MannyGT ) there is a compatibility plugin available in the files as well. Load after Supreme Storms CoT version. These presets will NOT look like what they used to be. All Rainy weathers have gone through a major overhaul. There is also a patch available for Expanded Snow Systems - Climates of Tamriel Version.

INCOMPATIBILITIES
Any mod that alters the weathers of Climates of Tamriel

Confirmed incompatibilities

Climates of Tamriel - Snow Patch Already included in this mod. Not needed.
Revamped Exterior Fog or other mods that push fog away - Do not use, I do fog, they overwrite everything I did, even when they're "CoT compatible"
Real Rain - Obviously, we both do rain
Supreme and Volumetric Fog - Load after patch and will overwrite CoTFog_1 to 6 (not _T) so you'll have a mix of both if you really need it but you will not have my colors in those conditions. Do not use with the Volumetric Fog Edition available here
Dynavision - Overwrites DoF effects added in Rainy, Foggy and Snowstorm weathers. Those effects will not work for as long as Dynavision is active
Real Clouds - Overreacts to light color since it reacts to Particle (like smoke) when used together with ENB, results might be weird. It is also not very compatible with CoT's weather systems. There's no conflicts but use knowing it will not show the colors I give how they should be given.
Real Shelter update: the new Nexus release of Real Shelter comes with a compatibility version for the Weather Patch. unconfirmed - just by author description - Real Shelter does it's tricks by changing image spaces, this works fine with the patched mod (CoT) but my mod changes, but most of all adds new image spaces to support more variety. This could very well mean that these mods are not going to work properly with each other unless a patch is made to close the gap. However this mod is not listed on Nexus.

HERE! This is a mod that seriously needs some LOVE from everyone ... Still using Enhanced Night Skyrim? Try this one out instead and see if that gives you a true night sky! Lorkhans Vision - Night Sky by Doubloonz ... If you like that mod kindly endorse it, it would really need to be seen one day.
