Jorundr wishes the same, I can tell you that. The pictures would've gained great benefit from phonemes and modifiers. I personally love the way they came out, and I believe this is as good as they can get; Jorundr did a great job, but he's the first one to blame the faulty console commands.

Personally, I already learned the lesson of being careful with Skyrim updates since 1.7 or so. As soon as I heard those console commands were removed, I made sure to stick with 1.8.

I'm missing a LOT of new fantastic content which requires the latest version of Skyrim to work, but on the other hand I'm able to take pictures such as this and this. It's about knowing what you value the most from your game client, I suppose.

We contemplated the option of both taking pictures, but we found this kind of teamwork to work very well, especially with the amazing success of Part 1. I don't think I'll be taking the screenshots for Part 2.

It is indeed a pity they took away the phenome functions.. I miss them terrible. But I manage nonetheless. Thank you for the comment.

    This is perfect!

It is something I have been trying to do ever since I started posting stories in the Nexus. I write a lot and have a blog (in brazilian portuguese) that tells the story of the NPCs of a tabletop Pathfinder RPG that am GMing for three or four years now.

When I started to play Skyrim and saw all the possibilities with mods, I started making Skyrim versions of the NPCs to help my players picture them and just recently I started using those characters to play a different kind of story in Skyrim, as you might (or might not) see in my own short stories.

I certainly want to be able to do something like what you guys did here, of combining images and the story, but I am still a long way from being able to take such good screenshots!

Thanks for sharing this story and I will definetely try to accompany each and every one of those stories that you post!

One of the things that hindered this project the most was the lack of proper console commands for facial expressions, which were effectively disabled as of patch 1.9+.

Without the use of "mfg phoneme" and "mfg modifier", we are unable to get the unique and subtle mouth and eye movements that make the characters look more human. With only "mfg expression" avaiable, Tordis and Uther look more like dolls with vacant eyes, staring into the distance.

Jorundr did a -fantastic- job trying to overcome those absurd limitations, and I love the pictures he came up with for the story I wrote. I personally blocked my updates and stay on 1.8, effectively preventing myself from enjoying most of the amazing stuff that is coming out as of lately here on the Nexus. The things you do for photography...

Both Jorundr and I sincerely hope that this issue can be corrected very soon. We're also exceedingly giddy for how positive the feedback has been for Part 1. It's fantastic to see something we produced inspiring players. Thank you for the comment.

PS: Part 2 should be ready by this weekend (at least in the text), depending on how unforgiving university will be in the next few days.

Good read, and enticed to see where this is going. I loved the use of close-ups here. You do those well.

If I might make a suggestion? Maybe you could consider using a slightly different font, or different shade of grey for each of the two character's perspectives? I'm quite used to changing perspectives, but usually it doesn't happen this fast. Feel free to ignore, but it was the one thing I felt the need to b&@*$ and moan about.

Glad to hear you enjoyed it Mid. And that is actually quite a good suggestion. I can apply it to my blog at least, but I don't know about here on the nexus, coding in the description here is limited but I shall give it a try.

This should do the trick if you want to change the colour of the text:

Great Scott, that's a lot of comments in such a short amount of time. I know it should be best to reply to each and everyone of you; forgive me if I decide to write a single comment to you all.

The feedback has been amazingly positive. I've previously experimented with similar storyboard-based stories on my own gallery (specifically here, here and here), it was high time I tried something similar with Jorundr, who's basically done the same ever since he started his fabulous blog.

Writing this, working with Jorundr and observing the making of the pics has taught me quite a few more things on joint storytelling, you'll see what I mean as soon as part 2 is out. The general storyboard has been created, by the way. It's just a matter of conjuring up the paragraphs and bringing forth the amazing photography.

PS: I noticed just now, but there's a missing paragraph from the story, containing Tordis' response to Uther's question about her own name. I'll tell Jorundr to fix that immediately, since it doesn't seem to appear on Skyrim Tales either.

PPS: Slightly out of subject, Aesir Armor is receiving a massive update pretty soon. Once again I was asked to conjure up a few more poetic riddles Omesean will hopefully deploy in the incoming new version. I suggest you all to keep an eye on it if you can/want.

      Indeed!

The paragraph has been added under the picture of Tordis eating.

Our apologies for the mistake people!
