This mod aims to provide patches for any variety of New Vegas Redesigned 3 and Brave New World (both with and without faces) to work together nicely.

If patched correctly, you will get BNW voices and NVR3 faces (as well as BNW faces if you chose that option). In the case of conflict, you will get the faces of whichever patch you chose.

Many people have asked me since the release of NVR3R how to install Brave New World with New Vegas Redesigned 3.
  • BNW voices many NPCs. It changes the designs for some of them, with the BNW Revoice + Face Redesign option (BNW+F).
  • NVR3 changes the designs for many more NPCs.

You can think of this as a simple Venn diagram, where they both modify the same records. That overlap is where the conflict starts. Without a patch, only the voice and/or design of one will show up in the final game for these overlapping records.

Installation

Make sure you have FCO 2.3.1 (the version number is important), NVR3R (or any variety of NVR3) and Brave New World.

If you have Brave New World with Revoice Only:
Don't install any of these. Use the scripted version included with BNW.

If you have Brave New World with Revoice and Face Redesign:
Choose one, depending on which face redesigns you prefer.

The .esm file from this mod should be loaded after Brave New World.esm and New Vegas Redesigned 3.esm.
The .esp file from this mod should be loaded after all plugins which patch NVR3 or Brave New World.

There will be a picture in the media section above with a screenshot of what it should look like.

Explanation

If you want the patches, skip to the Installation section. For a long-winded explanation, read on.

Before this, the choices you have are to use xavi84's patch (the "OnlyVoices" version), or following Dracomies' interpretation of Qwinn's guide (or my other mod, which I won't waste time explaining). I will try to explain the limitations with both methods.

xavi84's version is a good effort, but there are some problems in my opinion. First of all, there is a missing reference in Ranger Milo's record, which causes an error in xEdit. This implies that this patch was created with records from some other unrelated mod, and this error may cause problems in game. Many records are included that aren't in NVR3 or Brave New World for reason, or only one or the other (or none). Since any record in a patch of NVR3 and BNW should resolve a conflict between two, these extra records may cause problems that don't need to be caused. Also, it takes Vanilla or NVR3's side on every conflict (what is meant by "OnlyVoices"), so it doesn't work with BNW+F.

The Dracomies guide essentially lets BNW+F override everything. The problem with that guide is a misunderstanding of BNW. In Qwinn's post, he states that there isn't a point to having a patch, "unless you for some reason really WANT BNW [voices] with Dracomies' original NVR3 character designs instead of the ones he specifically made for BNW".

It's an easy solution and all the BNW voices and designs will come through. But it overrides any NVR3 records it touches. This is the obvious problem for people who prefer NVR3's designs. The more subtle problem is that BNW+F uses vanilla faces for some of its revoiced NPCs. These vanilla faces override those of NVR3. So if you consider NVR3 designs superior to vanilla (and why would you be using NVR3 if you liked vanilla designs more), and wanted any NPCS with BNW voices and NVR3 faces, you're out of luck. And Qwinn never made that patch, so RIP.

Also, since every record for both mods is in an ESM, it gets messy trying to figure out which is overriding which with all the ESP compatibility patches both are trying to use. Really, one ESP patch should be at the bottom that gives the final say on who wins this messy argument. That's the point of this mod, and hopefully people will stop asking about it.

More questions

In the future, this will be added to NVR3R.

For those that read this far, you may care about FaceGen textures. I would go with loading New Vegas Redesigned 3.esm above Brave New World.esm, that should use NVR3's face textures. If you really care, just extract the bsa for either BNW or NVR3 and put it in a new mod folder overwriting everything.
