# Kai's Covenant Walls Improved #

## Description ##

Covenant is. Awful.

So I tried to fix parts of it. And then I started making stuff buildable. And snappable. And here we are.

This makes buildable versions of all the covenant wall pieces. You know the barbed wire topped brick thing that actually looks pretty cool.

Three item categories:

- Barriers (wall segments and the gate)
- End Caps (basically posts)
- Misc (currently just the turret platform)

You need to build endcaps between each wall segment - the barrier bits snap to the end caps, but not to each other. The endcaps will also snap to concrete walls from wasteland workshop (because I was replacing a concrete wall at the time and this made it MUCH easier).

All are now craftable under Structures > Concrete > Covenant with subcategories for each. Fewer items per category that way means building goes faster. This menu is added via a script, so it should work with everything. More smaller categories makes browsing much much faster, especially since you'll need to be doing wall segment - post - wall segment back and forth a lot and possibly choosing a new one of either each time. Fewer key presses.

## Features ##

- Snap points for everything, carefully chosen. End caps to concrete walls and to the covenant wall pieces. Covenant wall pieces snap to the end caps/posts. Distance calculated so that the wall pieces snap slightly into the posts, ensuring that the barbed wire will touch the poles at the top.
- Elevation snaps so you can adjust the height of the wall as it moves through terrain. Elevation calculated so that the barbed wire should still touch the poles for each snap.
- Vanilla pieces only - no homemaker meshes used.
- Snap points along the top of each side of the wall that the turret platforms snap to.
- Turret platforms also have an 'autoplace' snap that works on most walls, similar to a shelf. So they're easier to use everywhere.
- Replace the vanilla covenant meshes so that the walls already IN Covenant will have the turret platform snaps - in case you need to build more of them.
- additionally, mesh replacers for the covenant houses that feature door snaps that work with vanilla doors. I won't be making the prefabs craftable or anything like that but it should make it much easier to replace the doors, which makes it easier to actually use Covenant as a settlement. These are implemented and tested, they work (in fact they work well enough that I became confused why bethesda didn't already do that) I'm just fine tuning the snap positions so that the doors don't have any obvious gaps at the top. Homemaker double doors work great for the main gate. I might make my own versions eventually from the vanilla meshes.

## How this is different from the other covenant building sets ##

- replacements for the base game meshes, ensuring that the ones in covenant will also have snaps (this is mostly important for the turret platforms)
- more snaps and features for them
- carefully adjusted snap positions rather than merely snapping end to end

## Options ##

Why would you need options?

## Installation ##

Install via NMM or copy the contents of the folder into your Fallout 4 Data folder and activate the plugin.

## Requirements ##

Base game version 1.6.x whatever or higher (I assume). Whichever patch version added support for Contraptions should do.

## Changelog: ##

1.4:
- Even more fixes. Discovered an issue where the houses already placed in Covenant weren't colliding properly with placed furniture etc, so I fixed it.
- Added new prefabbed L corners featuring elevation snaps, built in elevation changes, and options of having one longer side built into the turn. There are... I wanna say 9 corner prefabs now?
- moved prefabbed corner pieces into their own 'Corners' menu
- 'Endcaps' have been renamed 'Posts/Junctions' to more clearly identify their function. Posts/Junctions all can carry wire connections the way a conduit does, and the entire wall carries power to anywhere else as before. No changes there.
- Adjusted+cleaned up (hopefully) the navmeshing on the gate piece.

1.38:
- More fixes
- Elevation snaps for the prefabbed corner piece
- Balcony/stair snaps for the turret platform. Mostly just thinking hey maybe you'll find a new use for it if it has 'em.
1.35:
- Adds the first of the house prefabs
- Adds several 'pre-capped' walls. They're currently statics, so you'll need to include the endcaps/posts somewhere if you want to string power to them, but they should speed construction.
- Possible crash fix: the objects no longer have LOD meshes attached. They seemed to be causing problems, and removing them stopped a reproducible crash I was having. Hopefully it improves things for others as well.
1.3:
- Prefab houses still aren't behaving, navmesh-wise. Disabled for now but will be included eventually.
- Added a corner prefab to make wall building easier.
- Adjusted wall snaps juuuuuuuuust a bit more to make the barbed wire line up with the poles even better than previously.
- NEW FEATURE: Walls now carry power via snaps. Shorter wall segments have support for the vault-tec power conduit.
- Additionally, endcaps/poles are effectively 0 radius pylons. Clip wires to them and connect them to whatever else.
- This makes building defenses along the top of your wall really convenient - just hook a generator into the wall somewhere, then wire your laser turrets right to the nearest endcap post.
- Or use the wall to carry power all the way around your settlement without needing to string wires in a massive web over it. Up to you.
1.2:
- Copies object placement references into the plugin to force the game to enable the snap points
- Adjusted snap points on the walls for the turret slightly higher to better match the placement of the bethesda ones in Covenant proper
- adjusted the door snap points on the building. Again. In preparation for making prefab versions. Eventually.
1.1:
- Added navmeshing for the gateway
- Adjusted WS-Autoplace on the turret stands
1.0:
- Initial release
