There is a v1.0.5.2 from August 5th at Github (/long-war-2/lwotc). I would love to play the latest 1.1 beta, but apparently it's only available on Steam, where I can't find a download button :(
Hello - so I have XCOM2 War of the Chosen with all the DLC's on GOG. I've seen conflicting info online with this mod working with GOG version. Some people say it works for them, others say it doesn't work at all and you need Steam.
I've downloaded mods for the base XCOM2 game, including Long War 2 and it works. Along with evac_all and stopwastingmytime. (only mods I tried)
But for WOTC, I can only get CommandersChoice and EvacAll_WOTC to work. PerfectInformation crashes the game after my initial move in Gatecrasher but this mod isn't all that important at this time. The one I want to work is LongWarOfTheChosen because without it, its hard to play vanilla WOTC with its slow pacing and lack of all the other features Long War provides.
The error I get when I include LongWarOfTheChosen is "error detected attempting load of package LW_Overhaul" and the game crashes before before the first splash screen. There's nothing helpful on the internet about this particular error but surely I can't be the first to run into this at this point. I've tried loading the mod by itself, I've had it first in the list and last in the list but still get this error everytime. Any suggestions? Thanks in advance.
I've tried everything to get it to work with the GOG version with the same results you describe. Seems to be a mod for Steam users only. I don't understand why the the mod for the basic Xcom 2 works on Gog version but not this?
it doesn't, apparently it's because the Epic Games Store version uses the EGS online services instead of the Steam one, which is what this mod is made to work with. Same with all of the Long War standalone mods (alien pack and leader pack dont work on the EGS version).
If you try to launch it, you'll most likely end up with a crash citing the incorrect load of "LW_Overhaul" package, though if it does work I'd love to hear how you did it.
It looks to me like there will be no more updates. There have been no reactions to postings on Github for months. Very sad, because I really like the mod! I hope that paledbrook is doing well?
there is another user who is working on updates recently, here his progress 👍: https://www.reddit.com/r/LWotC/comments/13sekoq/lwotc_version_103_beta_build/you can also find them on discord https://discord.gg/u8qqteZ5
I've tried everything to get this to work but it just keeps ctd after the intro cinematic when I start a new campaign. I've followed every single step in the troubleshooting guide and it still crashes. Please help.
I've been playing strategy games for decades and really like being challenged by games!
I think Long War of the Chosen is basically a great mod, but the difficulty level ruins the game in my eyes! After "Rookie" was a bit too easy for me in some places, I started a game on "Veteran" and it ran quite well for some time. But what I experience now in the second third of the game (beginning of October) spoils any joy for me! I think it's okay if there are some harder missions with short timers, but now I only get very hard missions with absurdly strong enemies. I think, who has fun with something like that, should get it, but please not already on the second smallest difficulty level!
For anyone who runs in to this, the problem you are having is intel in the region. As you make more noise Advent will focus in that region and if you don't increase your operatives focusing on intel then you will be getting missions with less and less infiltration time, which means you can bring less people and there are more enemies to face who are also stronger.
In this mod you don't have to do every mission either, try to prioritize missions with things you need and if you notice the missions are too hard then decline a couple while you add more intel operatives.
