About this mod

This mod changes the spawn location for XCOM troops in Covert Extraction Missions for Long War and EW. For Long War there are some some balance changes to the missions. Super Skyranger applies the +2 bonus and the Exalt pods have been reworked.

This mod is designed to rework the Covert Extraction mission type. Note: It will work best using either LW versions b15d+ or wghost81's random LZ's mods. Instructions for both are below.

Long War
For Long War this mod changes:
  • The spawn point for each Covert Extraction map so that your extraction forces spawn in next to the Covert Operative. The LZ's are unchanged.
  • The Exalt pods have been rebalanced.
  • Super skyranger now adds the +2 soldier limit for this mission type giving it much more use in the mid-game. (Does not stack with We Are Legion)
  • I have also included an edited version of defaultmaps.ini - this brings back two of the Covert Extraction maps (PierA Terror and Street Overpass) that were removed due to balance as I feel they are possible now due to the changed spawn points and rebalanced Exalt.  

Note: I have only tested this mod with LW b15d and onwards as that was after the random LZ's were added into it. There is a good chance that wghosts XCOM RANDOMISED mod (detailed below) works with it but I have not tested this.

Enemy Within 
For Enemy Within this mod changes:
  • The spawn point for each Covert Extraction map so that your extraction forces spawn in next to the Covert Operative. The LZ's are unchanged.


IMPORTANT INFORMATION FOR ENEMY WITHIN:
This mod was designed to be used alongside wghost81's XCOM RANDOMIZED mod wghost81's XCOM RANDOMIZED. This is because this mod changes the base spawn locations for each map in the Covert Extraction family. If you do not use XCOM RANDOMIZED you will find that on those maps even if the mission is not a Covert Extraction you will spawn in the Covert Extraction location seperated from your LZ.

If you do not want to use XCOM RANDOMIZED but still want to use this one, as part of the file I have included modifications to that mod that will disable everything that the XCOM RANDOMIZED mod does while making it work with this mod to change the Covert Extraction spawn points and nothing else :)


Installation Instructions

Note: This installation guide assumes that you have already installed Long war.
Long War
  1. Copy Exalt_Covert_Op_Balance_Mod - LW.txt into PatcherGUI's mod file
  2. Click Apply to install the changes
  3. (Optional) Copy defaultmaps.ini into PATH_TO_STEAM\Steam\steamapps\common\XCom-Enemy-Unknown\XEW\XComGame\Config

Note: This installation assumes that you have not installed XCOM RANDOMISED, that you want to but you don't want the other spawn points. Remove optional parts are required
Enemy Within
  1. Copy Exalt_Covert_Op_Balance_Mod - EW.txt into PatcherGUI's mod file
  2. Click Apply to install the changes
  3. (Optional) Install XCOM RANDOMIZED from the above link
  4. (Optional) Copy defaultlzmutator.ini and defaultmutatorloader.ini into PATH_TO_STEAM\Steam\steamapps\common\XCom-Enemy-Unknown\XEW\XComGame\Config - This is what removes the extra randomness

As this mod affects the difficulty of the missions feedback on balance would be greatly appreciated :)
