Does this work with 1.28? I like the ability to play in windowed and this enables it, where as CTRL+F12 didn't for me.
Edit: Doesn't moving Soul Shield and Element Shield out of certain spell schools actually limit class selection more? And also this seems to make Bishops much more attractive, especially in lower person parties.
I don't support other versions. I recommend following the install instructions.
Sure, that's fair. But I'd argue that the other changes to Bishop balances this out somewhat. Also, keep in mind that the vanilla game is far from balanced in that regard, and while this mod tries to improve that, there will be some superior options, especially if you're playing in lower-person parties.
Thank you so much for responding, I've read a lot of your posts.
Can you speak on what you recommend for lower person parties and/or what kind of considerations should be made for this mod? I'm trying to aim for four party members ideally, but five is okay if necessary.
Regardless of the games I mod I don't like giving out build/party recommendations. In addition, it has been quite a while since I played the game. I'm sure you'll figure something out that works just fine. ;)
Hi, just wanted to say i'm really liking this mod, it even works with the 1.28 fan patch exe so that's cool.
But mainly i love the amount of ammo in the game now. In vanilla i would struggle to keep a gadgeteer supplied, but now i've got a gadgeteer, a ranger and the whole party fully stocked with ammo and it's great. I mean i have no money because i keep buying ammo, but hey, that's my fault.
Only issues i've had is a couple of crashes in the swamp, but only after an hour or so of playing in there. No other issues so far, and i'm about to go to Marten's bluff anyway, so hopefully it won't be an issue again.
So i discovered that i was using an old version of the 1.28 patch (v2995) and now that i've installed v6320 i haven't had any more issues in the swamp. It may have been to do with the dark savant turning up to accuse the party of stealing the astral dominae, because that didn't happen until i installed the new patch too. Anyway, all good now.
Hi, I just installed the mod and it went smooth but took a little work to get a shortcut to the batch file into Steam.
• I made sure game path had no spaces for cfinjector I made a second install location in steam and moved the game there from within steam UI. • I created a shortcut to the batch and added the wiz8 icon from shortcut properties • I edited the target line from shortcut properties so it could be added to Start Menu & Steam cmd /c "...../xx.bat" •Once in Steam, I had to edit the target line for the Steam shortcut "...../xx.bat" I added the wiz8 icon to Steam shortcut
The instruction to create a new character means I shouldn't use the pre-made ones that come with the game? If yes, I will delete those .CHR files.
Was the game tested all the way to completion? I mean, if nothing went wrong on my end, game can be completed with the mod?
It's been a while since I worked on this but I'm pretty sure the pre-made characters don't work as intended, correct. The mod was properly tested, yes.

If you carefully read all the install instructions and it still doesn't work I can't really help you. You can join the discord and look for some previous conversations I had but I currently can't help troubleshoot W8 related stuff.
GGooDie and Ultimecius, I also had this problem, but managed to get it to work anyway. The CFInjector apparently doesn't like file paths with spaces, so what I did was put a fresh install of the game in a simple root directory (eg "C:/Wizardry8"), but otherwise followed the mod's directions. After this, the game loaded perfectly.
You never stated what you did with the gadgets. Was really unpleased to find that regenerating stone has 6 charges (unlimited in original game), but only because mod didn't state that. How am I supposed to recharge the gadgets? Please provide info about gadget changes on the page.
It's been quite a while since I last modded W8 but I'm pretty sure I didn't touch that gadget. I was also pretty meticulous in including every change into the changelog.
Not sure what's going on there to be perfectly honest. W8GO is considered finished and I don't intend to release fixes or changes to it but I will take a note if I ever revisit it. I hope you're still enjoying the mod overall! :)
is there any way to play this game with windowed mode??? without mod i made this game windowed by typing command -windowed .. but your mod must be played with bat file... as you know , with bat file i could not play this game with windowed... maybe you know how to do??
I'm not sure if there is a way. You can check if the 3d setup exe has something like that or if pressing "Shift+Enter" ingame works. Other than that I don't know.
My anti-virus didn't like your CFInjector I think it was. I see on Discord you're aware of the issue. Even after trying some other instructions and with your mod and CFInjector I get the same "procedural entry point could not be located in the dynamic link library" error.
Now I installed the GOG version of the game and it won't launch either thru GOG (does nothing) or directly from the game exe where it gives a GOG "procedural entry point could not be located in the dynamic link library" error. How can I run Wiz8? I've tried both versions. I tried a mod for the GOG version also called "Wizardry 8 Gameplay Overhaul" with the same results. Argh! I've bought the game twice and can't get it to run, Help?!
I installed from my disks and the game won't launch. 3DSetup also freezes I think
---- I read about this issue. Is it resolved now by your mod. Or should/could we use the alternate exe file (unofficial patch) with your mod that fixes it? "problem with the attributes rolling over the absolute max of 125 points and issuing penalties, improves stacking for resistances up to 200 points."
This what I have in the W8LaunchWithAgent.bat ,when I double click to run the file it opens but then I get this.

Thumbs up from me :)
I'm not aware of this mod causing any crashes so not sure what's up with that.

And it stalls on that last line and never loads.
Any suggestions?
