Changelogs
Adds a short new questline relating to the attempts of several Oxenfurt Academy alumni, including Shani, to start a night school to keep the Academy going in some way while it is officially closed due to the war. Something goes horribly wrong when there is an unexplained brutal attack, and now Shani needs Geralt's help to find and stop whatever did this.

Adds roughly 30 minutes of new gameplay over the course of 3 quests. For entry into the REDkit Modding Contest main category.

HOW TO PLAY:
The start of this questline will be available after you have completed the Hearts of Stone DLC main story. After that, you'll find a bunch of blood outside a cottage near the Novigrad Gate in Oxenfurt. Investigating will begin the questline. Enjoy!

The quests all have a suggested level of 40, though I'd recommend turning on enemy upscaling if you're above that and want the proper challenge.

IMPORTANT: If you are updating from v1.0 to a newer version, please play from a save file from before you had the mod installed. Otherwise, the new layer structure won't show/hide correctly and there will be a lot of overlapping stuff from the wrong things being loaded.

LANGUAGE:
Please turn on subtitles before starting the quest. There is no voice acting yet. I hope to add that at some point, but I haven't achieved results I'm happy with yet.

Originally, this mod is English only. However, there are some community-made translations available (thank you to all the awesome people that have made translations).

FEATURES:
  • Roughly 30 minutes of new questline across Oxenfurt and Novigrad.
  • A unique and difficult boss fight.
  • A fun little door puzzle.
  • A nicely challenging fistfight.
  • Some cool cutscenes (at least I think so).
  • Access to two new building interiors that were previously blocked by fake doors (used as quest locations).
  • Several new characters, and an appearance from everyone's favorite medic back in town for a short spell, Shani.

TIPS & TRICKS:
Puzzle solution and boss fight advice. Don't look if you want to figure it out for yourself.
Spoiler:
Show

  • The temple vault code is 3-2-4-1
  • The werelesh regenerates really fast. A damage over time effect can mitigate this, such as bleeding. Most notably, he is part leshen and thus very weak to fire. The burning condition will not only do a lot of damage, but will also cause the regeneration rate to slow down for a short time.
  • Fun fact: after you complete the main "Class Dismissed" quest, the classroom scene will be cleaned up after a day has passed, and the classroom will be set up nicely for the next class.

DEPENDENCY (important):
Important to note:
  • This mod requires the Hearts of Stone DLC
  • Any save made with this mod installed will require this mod to load. So please make sure you keep a clean save from before you install it and don't accidently overwrite it and eliminate your ability to uninstall this mod without starting a new playthrough.

Because of the save game dependency, I may even recommend making a before save, installing and playing through the mod, and then uninstalling it and continuing your playthrough from your before save, just so you aren't required to leave it installed in case conflicts arise with other mods you want later.

COMPATIBILITY:
Things this mod changes that may cause conflicts:
  • This mod changes the "monsterParams" script in order to make the unique boss enemy.
  • This mod edits the "doors_fake" layer in the Novigrad world (which includes Velen). (Since v1.1, all the quest content is added to the world using DLC layers for increased compatibility, so the Novigrad world file itself is unedited, but the one specific layer is still edited because I needed to delete two doors to open up some locations for the quests. This means that any other mods that modify Novigrad should be compatible as long as they don't edit specifically the "doors_fake" layer. If I figure out how to get rid of these doors in a more compatible way, I'll update this too.)
  • Adds entries to the Journal so the quests exist. Also, adds a bestiary entry as of v1.1. Other mods that affect the Journal may cause conflicts. I'm honestly not sure. The quests are all in their own collection, so hopefully it is fine, but I don't know for certain because I am not entirely sure how the journal data is actually stored in the mod depot.

Everything else in the mod is just added rather than modified, so it shouldn't conflict with much if anything. However, mods that make changes to the base content that this mod references may cause some unexpected behavior (like mods that change aspects of the creatures the boss enemy is based on).

INSTALL:
This mod has two parts, "mod" and "dlc", that need to be installed. One has pretty much all the data, and the other is to actually mount the quest into the game and start it.

To install, within the zip file, copy the contents of the "mods" folder into your game's "Mods" folder, and copy the content of the "dlc" folder into your game's "DLC" folder.

To uninstall, remember to remove both parts.

IMPORTANT: If you are updating from v1.0 to a newer version, please play from a save file from before you had the mod installed. Otherwise, the new layer structure won't show/hide correctly and there will be a lot of overlapping stuff from the wrong things being loaded.
