We are getting a lot of the same questions, so we are posting this sticky to address some general housekeeping items and FAQs. Please take the time to read through this before you post.
Housekeeping:
Do not post questions like "Is this [enter name here] fix included". We have all fixes listed on the Description page, and we provide a full change list of everything we've done. Search for it there, and if you don't see it listed, it means we have not included it.
Keep all comments professional and respectful. If you don't like our mod, that's fine. No one is forcing you to download it. But post negative comments somewhere else.
We're not going to debate the ethics of CDPR implementing some of BiA into next-gen in this forum. Feel free to join the discussion on our Discord. #next-gen
FAQs: Q: Is this version the same as BiA for classic gen (1.31/1.32)? A: No. CDPR integrated some of BiA into next-gen version 4.0, which required us to test every file and every fix. In cases where CDPR integrated a fix, we removed it from BiA. This is a best practice not to have vanilla/unnecessary files in a mod. Additionally, CDPR changed how some of the files work, so we could not simply port over the old version. Each fix that was brought into the next-gen version of BiA was rebuilt from the ground up to ensure compatibility.
Q: Can I use the BiA from classic gen with next-gen? A: We strongly advise against this. We kept the page for classic gen available for people who are still playing 1.31/1.32 to have access to BiA for that version. But we do not recommend anyone install it on the next-gen version. Doing so runs a high risk of breaking multiple aspects of the game and corrupting your save file.
Q: Does this work for all languages? A: Yes. Most of our edits have nothing to do with the language files, so it will continue to work in all supported localizations. In a handful of cases we have had to add our own text to the mod. In these rare cases, we have worked with members of the community to translate the text into all localizations. When you unzip our mod, you will see .w3strings files for all languages.
Q: This mod conflicts with [enter name here] mod. What do I do? A: If there is a compatibility patch available, then install it according to the instructions on the patch's page. If no compatibility patch exists, you can request one on our Discord page. The BiA authors make no promises for creating compatibility patches, but there are a lot of users in the BiA community and someone might be willing to make the patch. In the absence of a patch, our rule of thumb with conflicts is to give priority to the mod that matters more to you - but be wary if the conflicts are .w2phase or .w2scene files. We recommend giving BiA priority in those conflicts because it can break your game/save file.
Q: Can I install / upgrade this mod during a playthrough? A: Yes. We recommend updating whenever we release a new version. Sometimes it addresses a defect in a previous version, but mostly it makes for a cleaner experience. Be aware that some fixes are not retroactive, meaning you'll need a save file from before that point, otherwise it will take effect on the next playthrough. We do not recommend uninstalling BiA during a playthrough. This mod changes a lot of the quests for the sake of fixing bugs and improving user experience, but if you remove it during a playthrough, some quests may get stuck as a result.
Q: How can I notify you if there are new bugs to fix? A: If you want to report a bug, post it on our Discord. #bug-reports. However, be aware that we do not have any plans at the moment to continue adding new fixes to BiA. We consider this version to be final, and our mod team has moved on to other things.
We don't recommend using a mod manager. Some of the files are challenging to install in the correct locations, and we've seen mod managers not handle it very well. We recommend a manual installation. You should still be able to link it so it appears in Vortex.
Paul is right. Although for a mod manager, we recommend Witcher 3 Mod Manager here, and this one correctly install Brothers In Arms. Still, best you learn how to install manually as not all mods can be installed with a mod manager.
We haven't heard that this location wouldn't be possible to clear. Have you tried meditating in the area? Maybe a missing pirate has failed to spawn and it's blocking the quest from progressing and meditating can sometimes force them to appear.
Sadly I'm not able to count how many have spawned. I'v encountered this problem like half year ago and kept playing hoping for fix in future. Must have deleted the saves before this bug due to GOG client cloud save space being limited and game not synchronizing. Got only later saves from HoS or BAW.
So, I cannot revive him at this point anymore, the quest has somehow stuck somewhere in the middle. What I can offer to you is to input this command in the console: disableMapPin('sk29_mp')
If the marker is what's bothering you, this should Disable it as if completed. The herbalist will forever stay kneeling, though and won't be interactible.
For any1 with same problem, u can actually interact with him for short period of time. You have to throw a bomb near him and there will be small window of time when you have to spam interact key and u can talk to him, play gwent and buy some stuff, he even thanks you for saving him but the marker does not count as done and he comes back to kneeling after few sec. So as MerseyRockoff suggested typing disableMapPin('sk29_mp') in console is best solution.
I have this too either load a save before you go fight the bandits holding the hebralist hostage or meditate or save after you saved him and reload, you can also travel to another map Vizima or White Orchard then come back. It should work after all that.
the mod Brothers in Arms Optional breaks the game at Hendricks house during the Nilfgaardian Conneciton when you interact with the candle stick to reveal the hidden ledger. Whne you choose turn left you are locked into that CS and cannot get it out of it.
you have two options turn the candle left or right, choosing turn left removes the main choice to step away. thus resulting in you being stuck at the candle stick.
This is not true. The candle puzzle is a restored mini-game. You have to choose the correct turns of the candle, which will open the secret door and progress the quest. There is a note in the room which very obviously tells you the order to turn the candle. If you make a mistake, it gives you the opportunity to exit the mini-game. At no point are are you locked into it. Just make a mistake and you can quit. If you don't have an option to quit, it's because you are choosing the correct orientation of the candle.
I encourage to read (or re-read) Hendrick's note that is placed in the room. It tells you the exact order, if you can't figure it out for yourself.
Small question: does this mod affect loading screen times? Whenever I fight a boss and get them to low health, depending on the enemy there is a cutscene. In those cases -- I get (what feels like a) "long" loading screen in-between combat and cutscene where Geralt dies from continued active combat (off screen since its a loading screen). My controller vibrates from the combat offscreen as well. And the game is actually loading and showing the little icon in the bottom right corner. Any thoughts?
There’s a wine glass stuck under my character’s leg. This bug seems to be caused by the quest 'Big Feet to Fill: The First Group.' Could someone please help me? I’m really at my limit with this bug. It’s similar to the infamous hammer bug.
Please help me i am desperate, during swords and dumping quest the part where you have to mark 3 crates with chalk, i can only mark one of them and interact button doesnt show up for the other 2, i tried doing everything, disabling all mods, going back to a previous save where the quest had not started yet, the fix isnt listed here and couldnt find anything on the internet either.
Sorry, never heard of the issue. Is it one specific crate that works for you and others not? Or can you mark either one of the 3 and then other 2 get disabled?
the one near to the entrance works, the 2 at the back of the warehouse dont no matter what i do, a few others had the same issue on reddit, i raised a ticket with cdpr too
how do i share? could you guide me? and i have the safe of before i talk to hattori now, should i progress the mission till i get to the warehouse point and then share?
Upload the save files on any file sharing platform (Google Drive, dropbox, wetransfer, etc.) and send me the link. Yes, progress the story until you're about to go into the warehouse. Maybe right before talking with Sukrus around the corner.
This bug is indeed baked in your save game, changing any mods doesn't affect it. I don't know how you got it, because it's not really a vanilla bug (first time I hear of this), nor it's a bug created by BIA, as it completely breaks game progression and would have long since been reported. In any case, doesn't really matter at the end of the day, I created you a hack-mod to force the game to accept just 1 crate marked. Download here Install as any other mod and make sure it has priority over BIA. Load the game, do the warehouse section, save the game, then remove the mod.
Hi guys I tried to use this in 2025 but it happend that if I free "persons in distress", I am not able to talk to them ( Barber and merchant from Claywich). I need to disable this mod, start the game, talk to the people, then enable the mod again. Is this an error on my side or a bug of the mod?
These are the mods I am using currently: DLC Events Boat Races Bood and Steel BiA
Did you ensure you installed BiA properly? modBrothersInArms goes into the Mods folder; dlcBrothersInArms goes into the DLC folder. This is not a conflict problem but very likely an installation problem. These are the files we edited/created for this fix. You can run script merger and verify there aren't any conflicts for them.
Hi, I've started to revisit witcher 3 and noticed that the game feels unplayable and wanted to install mods for the first time and I saw this pop up as being recommended. I installed the modpack just as it was instructed, nothing else was installed. Playing on Dx12 and I opened up, everything seemed fined but when I start a dialogue with anyone, it looks like this. Could anyone help me please, I appreciate it a lot! Also, Using the GOG client for witcher 3.

Update: It was my problem, I had ONE, just one mod installed long ago and that was causing the wacky fonts.

Still, best you learn how to install manually as not all mods can be installed with a mod manager.
First things first - awesome job with the mod - really appreciate your job for the community.
Got a question: Have you ever heard of bug related to Skellige person in distress - Kvalheim Isle - Herbalist (south of Blandare village)
I'v killed all the bandits yet the NPC is constantly kneeling unable to interact no matter what i do.
Tried contacting CD PROJECT RED support but they were unable to help.
Kinda desperate because it is last mark on the map that i'm missing.
Cheers and keep up the awesome job you do <3
Thanks for the answer - yes i'v tried meditating and reloading old saves but nothing helps.
Been looking for .addfact to fix it throught console but could not find correct one.
Had no such problem on earlier playthrough.
Guess thats gg :(
I appreciate your interest.

I have to explain in case someone met the same issue.
