Tried a few reshades and found this Vanilla Plus here to be the best followed by Wagnum. I'm using no RayTracing playing 4.04 on High-ish settings with RX6600, had roughly 60fps before. Both reshades cost me 1-3 fps while TheWhiteWolf, GhostWindSamurai and CineShade all use ~10 fps If you prefer a different look than vanilla than RPL Lighting Mod is also performance friendly (install like a mod, not with ReShade)
I prefer close to Vanilla so for me this reshader is not just the best in performance but also the best looking, thanks :)
One question though: How do you disable the ReShader ingame to compare with vanilla? Edit: Found it, open the menu (with home or in german keyboard pos1) and go to Settings and set a hotkey to switch effects on and off (3rd line under general). Edit2: I did some tiny tweaks and i like it even more now. Espacially because faces don't glow red like they did before. Thanks for this awesome base!
Honest question, is the latest Reshade version 5.5.2 broken in Witcher 3 nex gen dx12 version? To me it seems like it is, in that it drastically increased my launch/load time, in my dx12 game.
No it's not broken I am using 5.5.2 with dx 12 too you must be doing somethings wrong
Lemme tell you how to install reshade step by step
1. Download and click reshade (duh) 2. Choose TheWitcher3\bin\x64_dx12 and from there witcher.exe press open 3. choose DirectX 10/11/12 4. Its gonna say select a preset to install press skip 5. from up right corner press uncheck all and then press it again to check all 6. Press next 7. It installed reshade congrats now press finish 8. Go into where you installed the reshade and put the preset there 9. Get in to the game wait for the effects to load 10.Press home open the reshade menu choose vanilla plus reshade
and it's normal to take a few seconds longer to wait while it compiles the shaders. But I mean after all that if it still doesn't work or takes too long I don't know what else the problem might be sorry :/
Thank you for your generous reply. Seeing I had not done Step 4 correctly, having directed it during the Reshade installation to your preset file somewhere, I had high hopes. So, deleted Reshade from the dx12 folder. Slowly and carefully followed your steps. Launched, 3 1/2 min. to load. I hit the Home key, chose your preset and let the effects load, then entered the game. I thought looks bad, but first load is going to be slower, so I'll launch again. 3 1/2 min. load. I again cut out the dxgi.dll and launched again. 10 second load time. So, IDK what else to do. I'll not burden you further here as you've already gone above and beyond trying to help me. I'll perhaps go burden the Reshade site and see what I can turn up. At least you still have my endorsement :)
My game drive is a good quality, fairly new SSD and my OS drive is another SSD. As I said, my load/launch time without dxgi.dll is 10 seconds. Maybe I'll try a previous Reshade version and see if that helps at all. If I ever figure this out I'll try and get back here and post it. Thanks for all.
I have enabled Frame Generation and it crashes after a short time. This is due to the Reshade 5.5.2 Version, because it has some issues with Frame Generation. Maybe they will fix it with a new reshade version. Damn this Reshade looks so good, I hope they will fix this problem soon.
Merry Christmas and sorry for burdening you with this, but I *really* want to install your preset properly so I can use it.
I realized I'd installed Reshade incorrectly, having directed it to the wrong witcher3.exe. So to get a fresh start I deleted all Reshade files and your preset's .ini. Verified game files to insure I'd not removed any actual game file and Steam reported all file 100% present. *Then* installed latest version of Reshade to the proper witcher3.exe in the cs64_dx12 folder. My load time increased from 10 seconds to 3 /12 minutes. If I cut out and paste to desktop the dxgi.dd file from that folder my load time goes back to 10 seconds. Any ideas how to fix? Thank you in advance.
I installed your latest updated version into my fully updated nex gen game. You state in the mod instructions to press Home key to open the reshade menu in-game. When I press the Home key, the reshade window does not open and my entire HUD is disabled; it's as though the Home key is hotkeyed to turn the HUD overlay off/on. Solution? Edit: I just checked and the Home key is *locked* to hot key the HUD; i.e. you can't change the HUD hotkey. So far as I can tell the instruction to use the Home key to open the reshade window won't work.
You can change the hud on/off hotkey, it's locked but you can unlock it via the button left bottom corner and change it to whatever you please I use mine at insert. Also added the step to the installation guide on the main page thanks for bringing that out :)
Great. I wasn't aware a locked keybind could be unlocked and changed. By key at "left bottom corner" I'll assume you mean the CTRL key, so I'll give that a try. Thanks. Much appreciated. Endorsed :D
Okay, found the key to unlock bindings [O] in the in-game menu.... but, I set the hide HUD to Insert and the Home key does nothing. I checked carefully to make sure it wasn't bound to something else and it's not. Any ideas why the Home key isn't opening the Reshade window?
Yes. Latest version. One other question: In my E:\Games\steamapps\common\The Witcher 3\bin\x64 folder, I have ReShade.ini and Vanilla Plus Reshade.ini. Am I supposed to have both there? Should I have installed ReShade to the witcher3.exe in the x64_dx 12 folder? I appreciate your replies, thank you. Edit: I'm in dx12.
Its fine to have both as you will be choosing which reshade to use from ingame reshade menu you can even have 1000 reshades installed at once and choose between them. And you should install it where the exe you are using is located :)
Hi your mod is awesome. But I have a question, i had installed friendly HUD before the reshade and noticed that my input.xml file was altered so some functionality was broken, and i proceeded to delete the input.xml file, rebuilt it using verify integrity thru steam, and i'm still getting the mod to not function properly. I also uninstalled the ReShader as well but no dice. My question is are you aware of these two mods intefering/any other additional files that may have been edited that i need to go back and fix? I really appreciate it.
Reshade and friendly hud will not conflict with each other, I too am using friendly hud no problems on my end. Friendly hud changes input for some functionality so if you don't want the input for that just don't install it or change it in game after installing friendly huds input.xml but other than that I don't know how else I can help sorry.
