You're awesome dude. In most games 4k textures look super out of place because the model quality isn't that good, but in the Witcher 3 these textures look like they should have been there to begin with. Truly awesome.

Does installing this mod with W3MM not work? It looks like it didn't update the bin files.

Update: I manually extracted the bin files into the game folder and the option is available now. It seems W3MM doesn't handle files in the bin folder.

Does this mod add funny symbols to all the silver swords? Is there a way to disable that?

As far as I can tell does this mod not add any funny symbols to swords.
The only ones I know are from rune stones. If you don't want these glowing symboles you can use Sword Effects Customizer - Runes and Oils for that.

Not enough info to go on.  Assuming that you are using Vortex, one easy setting to overlook is "mod type".  It must be set like this:

Yea but what if I using mod manager by stefan3372? Does Vortex has compatibility with it or you just need choose 1 of these apps?

Never a good idea to mix mod managers.  Pick one.

I am having the same issue but I'm using Vortex and my Mod Type is already set to what you showed in your pic. Any other suggestions for a fix?

If you elier unzipped hdr folder to mods folder delete that and unzip again but to witcher 3 main folder. After that Halk's Hogan slider is existing under texture quality. So works in my case

Only overwrite the bin folder if you (or another mod) didn't made changes to the rendering ini/xml file. If they got changed in the past, you need to edit these files manally to not revert the changes from those other mods.

Never mind, must've been a corrupt save. Got a error from steam on cloud sync save.  Just can't play without this mod now... period!  Thanks Halk for your amazing work.

hey man, i don´t get why one would give the different HDRP folders different priorities

shouldn´t it be they all get the same?

this really starts to drive me mad :D did I do something wrong with priorities or something or aren´t those textures done yet? :D

maybe someone can check this out for me in hers/his game. it´s in the cave near Blandare in skellige where the hidden treasure used to be
script merger shows no conflict btw

Version 12 causes crashes during cut scenes. I have a 3090 so I am 100% sure I'm not running out of VRAM

After significant experimenting I have narrowed the issue down to something in the bin file. I can run the four texture packs with no issue but when I add the bin file I crash on cut scenes.

    As far as specs I am running a Windows 11 on a 5900X, 3090, 6TB of Gen4 M.2 SSD, on an ultrawide 3440 x 1440 HDR monitor.

I am wondering if W11, especially the auto HDR, is causing the issue

Bin file is supposed to be identic to vanilla, with the additional setting to put texture detail higher.

Open the "user" file from your "Document/Witcher 3", search "TextureMemoryBudget" and put "=4084" (Which is half of the VRAM and the max the game support, I know your 3090 has 8/12 GB).

Maybe try to change the compatibility to Windows 8/10 (but it will disable the auto HDR).

For each crash there should be a log file in the game directory: bin\x64\witcher3.exe_crash_YYYYMMDD_*.crashinfo. It's plain text (human-readable), and may have some clues as to what is happening.

OK. The log was worth checking but in this case it doesn't help much. It could be a number of things.

For the record, the mod itself seems to work fine for me (with 50+ other mods) and lots of other people (I think it's one of the most popular mods out there) but I guess it wasn't extensively tested with the configuration that you have, so you might be onto something.

Since you've narrowed it down to a problem that only happens once you copy over the bin folder, you should be able to identify the specific setting that causes this. Only these 3 files are changed in the bin folder:

      bin\config\base\rendering.ini
      bin\config\platform\pc\rendering.ini
      bin\config\r4game\user_config_matrix\pc\rendering.xml

They are all plain text (human-readable) files, and there are only a dozen or so changes in them from the original versions. With an utility like the free and open-source WinMerge you can compare the differences between the modified folder you are copying over and the default settings (conveniently included as "Config backup" with the HD Reworked mod) to see what these changes are exactly and merge them one by one starting from a version that works until it doesn't (in WinMerge, use Alt-Up/Down to move between differences and Alt-Left/Right to merge, Ctrl-S to save, then relaunch the game). It'll take a couple of restarts but on a fast system like yours it shouldn't be an issue, and in less than half an hour you will have the individual settings that is the culprit.

The only thing to note is that I'd also recommend backing up your settings first from %USERPROFILE%\Documents\The Witcher 3, and then deleting the file %USERPROFILE%\Documents\The Witcher 3\user.settings upon each run. Values from this file can override the default settings from the bin folder, and obscure the real cause of the problem. If it's not present, the file is recreated by the game with the default settings. Just make sure you keep a copy to restore once you're done experimenting. (That folder also has your saved games, so be careful.)

Once you have the individual setting that triggers the problem, or even beforehand, you can try some generic workarounds, like: temporarily setting the resolution to something with the 16:9 screen ratio (say 1920x1080), stopping all the GPU-related utilities running in the background (like MSI Afterburner, etc.), disabling overclock (if any) or even setting a slight underclock. In the end it might turn out to be something specific to Windows 11 though, as you've been guessing all along.

I play on RTX 3060 and Windows 11 and I encounter no issues.

If you do, even with Mod Limit Adjuster or Community Patch Base, then I suggest to open "propriety", onglet "compatibility" and select Windows 10 or 8, and put "always execute as administrator".

HDRP cover an extremely lots of textures, very very much.
And it's still in production! Halk is currently working for the "Next-Gen" Patch. With a big chance his mod would be integrate to the game.
