The Witcher 3

Toxicity in Lazarus Project resembles a wager or a mini-game.

Your goal is to balance your Toxicity Accumulation and Toxicity Purging in a way that allows you to stay in Toxic Frenzy for longest (so probably between +5 to +12 Toxicity Change per second)

Potions have varying Toxicity Accumulation and now even secondary substances are not just "Free stats". Two of them have their own Toxicity Accumulation (6 for Rubedo and 8 for Nigredo), which is stated in the description of a potion containing them.

Toxicity Purging can be increased by following things:
- Insectoid Mutagens
- Enzymatic Induction skill (up to 30% of your Toxicity Accumulation if added to Toxicity Purging if at least 2 potions were consumed)
- Fast Metabolism skill
- Metabolic Control perk (+3 Toxicity purging for 3 hours after meditating for one hour)
- Albedo boosts Toxicity Purging by 3-8 points (depending on the current Adrenaline).
- Strengthened synapses mutation (10% boost for each stage)
- Meditating (boosts overall Purging by 50%)
- And lastly: White Honey (but it also induces puking effect, which cancels active potion effects- also cancelling their Toxicity Accumulation)

Inducing Toxic Frenzy:
Toxic Frenzy triggers if overall toxicity is between 50% and 85% and Toxicity Change is at least +5.
Entering Toxic Frenzy is indicated by a brief screen flash, green toxic clouds in the corners on the screen and by the appearance of the Toxic Frenzy buff icon.
That's when Geralt can fully benefit from Frenzy, Endure Pain, Killing Spree and Convert purged toxicity into Adrenaline.
On top of that, time will briefly slow down when delivering a killing blow so that you can really appreciate the visuals and gore.

Toxic Overdose:
With the reworked Toxicity its perfectly natural to Overdose with as little as 2 non-pure potions. You should ALWAYS have White Honey ready to cancel Toxicity Accumulating effects and afterwards to speed up the Toxicity Crash/Hangover recovery.

Overdosing is communicated to the player by the blurry  "Drunkenness" screen effect.
It is worth noting that Toxicity does NOT deal damage before you Overdose (are above 85% of maximum Toxicity).

You can still continue the fight while Overdosing, despite Toxic Frenzy being no longer active, but it will be the ultimate wager because the Toxicity damage will begin to pile up rather rapidly and if 100% Toxicity is reached, Geralt will collapse, which most likely will end in his death.

Actually don't really have to "avoid" toxic Overdose, because Geralt receives Trails of the Grasses EXP for each second spend above 50% toxicity with at least +5 Toxicity Change. It's fine to hang out on overdose for a little time as long as you know what you are doing and know exactly how much Toxicity damage you can handle.

CANCELLING POTIONS PREMATURELY IS SUPPOSED TO BE A PART OF THE TOXICITY DYNAMICS

Dealing with Crash/Hangover:
Depending whether Toxic Overdose or Toxic Frenzy was reached, once all potion effects are cancelled or wear out, Geralt will experience severe crashing symptoms. He will be much weaker and much more sensitive to damage. It is best to avoid fights in this state altogether. Just use White Honey or Meditate to speed up the recovery process (or both).
