An extensive fix pack spanning across all aspects of the game. Including bug fixes, restored journal entries, dialogues, even entire characters and equipment. Also aimed at removing most tedious aspects of the game. Currently contains 275 different fixes/improvements. More than 10 years after the last patch by CDPR, you get one more. So what are you waiting for? It's time to replay Witcher 2 again.

This mod is configurable. Under optional files section you can find .xls file with a detailed information on every single edit, what it does and which files it changes. Using this file you can pick and choose specific fixes or vice versa - remove some if you don't like them. You need to have at least moderate knowledge in Witcher 2 modding to be able to do that. You will also need Gibbed RED Tools.

Version 1.3
  • Fixed Mysterious Merchant not spawning during Act III.
  • Restored Isidor Kay in Act III. Previously was only spawning during Act II. Includes new dialogues and the ability to shop, craft and play dice with him.
  • Restored dialogue lines by Dandelion, Zoltan and the Scoia'tael pair as they're standing on the scaffold during "By the Gods - Stringing Up Sods" quest. Overall 12 different lines between all of them were restored.
  • Fixed dialogue between guards near the back entrance for the scaffold before triggering execution scene.
  • Fixed dialogue between guards near the back entrance if Geralt destroys the barrels before the execution scene.
  • Fixed dialogue from a guard near the back entrance if Geralt destroys the barrels after the execution scene.
  • Fixed dialogue between Roche and guards near the scaffold if Geralt sneaks in through the back entrance. Overall 3 dialogues restored.
  • Fixed Farid randomly changing the colors of his outfit.
  • Fixed dialogue between Margarita and ballista guard during "The Ballista" quest abruptly stopping and not playing to the end.
  • Roche and Triss will now be less annoying after landing in the forest near Flotsam and not urge Geralt to hurry every 5 seconds if he decides to do some exploration around the ship. Increased the delay between the commentaries to 30 seconds.
  • The chats between a group of Loredo's guards and a prostitute in Loredo's Mansion will no longer play endlessly every few seconds during "Indecent Proposal" quest. Each chat will only play once, giving the player a chance to listen to other conversations, one-liners of the gatherers and ambient music. Also fixed 2 conversations between Loredo's soldiers and Margarita that almost never played, because of broken conditions.
  • Fixed conversation between Geralt and Roche about the state of the command post during "Indecent Proposal" to trigger reliably and not at the same time as the chat between a group of soldiers near the fireplace.
  • Fixed Stycho, the fistfighter, not having his name correctly displayed during "One on One: Flotsam" quest.
  • Farid will no longer insult Geralt when he's around him.
  • Bartholomew Bargee and his mother will no longer repeat their conversations over and over again every few seconds.
  • Improved dialogue flow during the scene of Roche beating up a villager in "Hung Over" quest.
  • Fixed duplicate documents found during "In the Claws of Madness" quest both in one of the chests and on the body of the Nilfgaardian ghost. The ghost now carries 100 orens instead.
  • All oils now last 10 minutes, just like potions and places of power.
  • Decreased the cost of buying schematics and crafting of the Dark Armor. Now tier I pieces will cost 50 orens each to both buy and craft them, tier II will cost 100 each and tier III will cost 150 orens each. This is done to further decrease unnecessary grinding needed to craft the armors. The crafting components required to craft the gear was not changed, so you will still need to put in a lot of effort.
  • Small fix to round the buying/selling prices better, in vanilla all items have +1 oren added after their buy/sell price is calculated. So something that costs 100, would appear for 101 in the game. The OCD in me couldn't live with that.
  • Fixed the scene with Geralt and Triss if Geralt first refuses Triss' help, but then changes his mind and comes back to ask her to join him for the trip to elven gardens during "Rose of Remembrance" quest. The camera in this scene only pointed to Geralt, even when Triss was talking.
  • Restored interactible character - Clovisse Merse (Louis Merse's wife). Includes 3 new dialogues. She won't have much to say until you find out more about her ordering the statues from the elven gardens.
  • Removed forced rain during Geralt taking Iorveth to the barge in "The Floating Prison" quest. The rain was glitchy, sometimes only happening for a few seconds and immediately stopping. Also, with having no transition and starting out of clear blue skies it broke immersion of the scene.
  • Fixed 2 quest choices with Cecil Burdon (playing dice during "Poker Face: Vergen" quest and turning in harpy nest contract) not being correctly highlighted as essential.
  • Fixed many issues during lynching phase of "Royal Blood" quest. Untangled a mess with everybody talking at the same time and over each other's lines making it impossible to hear anything properly. Now all the gameplay dialogues will be spaced out more correctly and bigger cooldowns given to separate lines, so you don't hear exactly the same every 5 seconds. Fixed Silgrat not spawning in the place of the scene (he was only spawned out of thin air when the final decision phase of the quest begins). Restored 2 completely new chats between peasants and nobility (made possible with Silgrat being there at the right time, as he is a part of both).
  • Improved dialogue flow during the scene of Vanhemar trying to execute Geralt.
  • Fixed small conversation between Geralt and Vanhemar during "Where is Triss Merigold?" quest that only played if you reloaded the checkpoint at the beginning of the fight.
  • Fixed Silgrat being in two places at once in Act III. Now Biggerhorn will take his place in the center area of Loc Muinne (who was supposed to be there to begin with). Silgrat can still be found and fistfighted with in the room with dice players.
  • Fixed Biggerhorn randomly changing the colors of his outfit.
  • Improved dialogue flow during the scene where Geralt and Iorveth notice the knights of the Order.
  • Fixed incorrect journal entry stating Letho was poisoned by a manticore when, in fact, he was poisoned by a slyzard. [ENGLISH ONLY]
  • Restored journal entry about Philippa's notes during "The Spellbreaker" quest.
  • Fixed "Operator's staff" being marked as a quest item.
  • Fixed an issue during "For a Higher Cause!" quest if Geralt lets himself get arrested by getting into a fight with random guards. The arrest threshold was set for Geralt to be at 10% health and on higher difficulties this caused an issue when on low health and a guard could do more than 10% damage with a single hit, thus killing Geralt and skipping the arrest cutscene. Sometimes the cutscene even played, but the game changed to game over screen in the middle of it. Increased the threshold to 25%.
  • Unlocked one of the sewer doors during "The Spellbreaker" quest allowing Geralt to access some otherwise unobtainable loot and explore jail cells.
  • Removed forced rain during "Death to the Traitor!" quest when Geralt is joining the battle in Loredo's courtyard.
  • Fixed chats between two men and a prostitute in army followers encampment not triggering between correct people.
  • Restored a chat between a sorceress and her apprentices in Loc Muinne.
  • Restored 2 chats between a mage and a sorceress in Loc Muinne inn.
  • Improved dialogue flow with Count Maravel.
  • Fixed Henselt's journal entry stating he didn't succeed in dividing Temeria with Radovid in the outcome he was dead. Bug only occurred in the scenario when Geralt gives Anais to Natalis.

  • Fixed no reward during "A Tome Truly Rare" quest if choosing to sell Dearhenna's grimoire to Bras of Ban Ard. He will now reward you handesomely (like he says he will).
  • Can now invest Talents immediately into any skill tree, without 6 point requirement into the Training tree. Author:  HautdenLukas
  • If you (or NPC) throws dice off board it will be reset for the next round (Witcher 1 rules). Author: XZINED

Version 1.1

  • Polycarp of Rinde will now let you use his services even if Siegfried is dead (Roche's path only and you need to persuade or hex him).
  • Choosing to surrender Mavrick to ghosts during "Little Sisters" quest will no longer fail the quest, but mark it finished.
  • Fixed "Draugir trophy" not being dropped because of a typo in game files.
  • Fixed "Dwarven armor fragment" not obtainable anywhere in the game. Will now drop from the demon during "Little Sisters" quest. Demon also drops "Mahakaman sihil" crafting diagram and this is the only schematic where this item is used. Available only if you side with ghosts against Mavrick.
  • Fixed items and money not imported correctly into new game, if choosing to do the tutorial.

  • Fixed "Wild Hunt" glossary entry logic in Act I (the phase file was completely rewritten). There were many other bugs that came about because of how badly this file was set up. That includes entries that are not obtainable or entries that are added at incorrect moment. Even some dialogues weren't working properly because of this.
  • Fixed "Wild Hunt" glossary entry about Yennefer not working.
  • All glossary entries on "Wild Hunt" will now be available on both Roche and Iorveth paths. Previously each path had a unique entry, depending whether you talked with Myron or Cynthia, but their dialogs are identical, so no reason to make these entries exclusive. Both paths will now unlock both entries.

Previously in this path (and only in this path) Geralt was forced to take reward and even if he killed bandits later in free roam, journal did not update. Now Geralt will have a choice, whether to take reward or attack bandits. Also fixed journal entry to correctly reflect Geralt's decision.
  • During lynch phase of "Royal Blood" quest you can now talk to all involved parties, before quest moves forward. If you talk with everyone inside the castle and leave suspicious peasant outside last, make sure you do both "The Walls Have Ears" and "Suspect: Thorak" quests before returning.
  • Fixed "The Walls Have Ears" quest marked as failed after completing "The Eternal Battle" quest.
  • Fixed "Suspect: Thorak" quest marked as failed after completing "The Eternal Battle" quest.
  • New outcome in quest "Ave Henselt!". If Geralt loses he can now convince Ves that he didn't let her win, which leads to multiple new dialogue options, journal entries and an alternative way to romance her. You have to take a serious beating or she won't believe you.
  • Choosing side at the end of Act I will no longer fail the other "At a Crossroads" quest, but mark it finished.
  • During "The Secrets of Loc Muinne" quest if you decide to kill both Adalbert and Cynthia you can now use the artifact 5 times to watch all scenes before it's rendered useless (if you can kill those teleporting bastards).
  • Fixed cursed battlefield environment activating too early during "Prelude to War" quests on both Roche and Iorveth paths, before Henselt kills the priest. Also fixed eclipse not visible because of said environment.
  • Fixed Circle of Vigor not giving correct buff.
  • Changed Circle of Power buffs to last 10 minutes (5 in vanilla), to make them actually worth going for.
  • Penitent Monk in Flotsam's inn will now give reward if you beat him at dice. The rewards are "Mysterious Tablet" which you can sell for a decent chunk of change and "Precision" ability.
  • Added +1 vitality regeneration outside of combat and +1 vitality regeneration during combat to "Melitele's Heart", to make it somewhat useful.
  • Can interact with items/doors sooner after combat. Vanilla delay - 7 seconds, mod - 3 seconds. Never understood the reason for such a long cooldown.
  • Can use medallion every 2 seconds (vanilla - 10 seconds). Same deal, just why?
  • Fixed Aerondight/Moonblade not removed from inventory after shoving them in dragon's throat. All silver swords will be removed from inventory at this point, so you have to do "A Sword for Monsters" quest in Flotsam.
  • Fixed grass around Vergen and Henselt's camp lighting up around player. Author: QuietusPlus
  • Display level 2 descriptions and mutagen slots on unaquired skills. Author: QuietusPlus
  • Geralt will no longer perform finishing move unless target is last enemy in sight. Finishers get repetitive and annoying really fast, plus leave you vulnerable to attacks because enemies are capable of hitting you before you can react after regaining control of Geralt. This is especially a problem on Insane and Dark difficulties where a single badly placed hit can be game over. Author: QuietusPlus
  • Removed Geralt's combat commentary. Similar to finishers, Geralt's combat taunts get very old very fast, often times being used at an improper moment and straight up making no sense. Examples - yelling "how many more can there be?" during kayran fight, yelling "die" and "you stink" while fighting Saesenthessis, etc. Geralt will now shut the fuck up and instead concentrate on the threat ahead.
  • Changed market buy/sell price ratio to 1:10 (vanilla 1:25). Vanilla price system means you pretty much can't afford anything ever or have to grind hours and hours of monster kills or arm wrestling matches. While being always poor is lore-friendly, this needs to be balanced with the gameplay aspect of a video game. And arm wrestling dunces for 2 hours to buy a few pieces of dark armor is a terrible experience. This change is balanced around Dark Mode, if you play on easier difficulties I advise to remove this file from the mod.
  • All merchants now have 100% chance to stock goods they have assigned to their inventories. Why waste time reloading the game multiple times to try to spawn an item in merchant's inventory that is set to appear 50% of the time?
  • Restored "Beings of the Element of Fire" book which adds all relevant information on Fire Elementals. Buy from Sambor or Felicia Cori.
  • Fixed "Legend of the Blasphemer" book not given after starting "The Blasphemer's Outfit" quest.
  • Removed weight from crafting ingredients.
  • Removed weight from all alchemy recipes.
  • Removed weight from all crafting schematics.
  • Completely redesigned quest items to decrease the incredible amount of inventory clutter they create. New logic is this - only items that can completely break progression of its quest are now considered true quest items. Items that might be used in a quest but are not vital to its completion will go to 'misc' category. That means you can drop/store/sell them at any point before, during or after its quest. They also have a hint in their tooltips that they might be used in a quest if you're at a merchant and can't decide whether or not you want to sell the item. Documents and letters will no longer be considered quest items (with a few exceptions), meaning you can remove them from your inventory if you so choose. Unique one of a kind documents will also now glow in containers like quest items. All keys are still considered quest items.
  • DLC items will no longer be automatically added to Geralt's inventory at the start of game. Neither will random oils and herbs.
  • Blue Stripes combat jacket can be found in a chest next to Roche's ship in Flotsam.
  • Mage's trousers can be found in a chest in Kayran's lair next to shipwreck.
  • Herbalist's gloves can be found in a chest in Elven Baths.
  • Whetstones can be found in a chest in bandits' hideout shack.
  • Restored sword - Sword of Yspaden. Schematic guarded by bandits on the road to kayran's lair.
  • Restored sword - Superb sword of Dol Blathanna. Schematic can be found in the forest beyond Vergen city. Might be guarded by a tribe of nekkers.
  • Restored sword - Zerrikanian saberra. Schematic can be found on the beach by the hut on the cliff.
  • Restored sword - Devil. Schematic can be found in Loc Muinne sewers (exclusive to Iorveth's path).
  • Restored sword - Beann'shie. Schematic can be found in the forest path beyond Loc Muinne. Might be guarded by endregas (exclusive to Roche's path).
  • Restored sword - Gvalchca. Can be found in tunnels underneath Henselt's camp. Guarded by earth elemental.
    Nerfed.
  • Restored sword - Draug's Confession. Automatically looted after killing draug.
  • Restored sword - Bride. Schematic can be found on Roche's ship (Act II, exclusive to Roche's path).
    Nerfed.
  • Restored sword - Eclipse. Reward from Succubus (schematic) for siding with her (exclusive to Iorveth's path).
    Nerfed.
  • Restored sword - The Good Shepherd. Schematic given by Visionary after successfully completing his trials (exclusive to Roche's path).
  • Restored sword - Marag Bator. Schematic can be found in Daerhenna's laboratory (exclusive to Iorveth's path).
    Nerfed.
  • Restored sword - Ichaer Aardanna. Schematic can be found in werewolf's cave (Act III). Replaces Deithwen that was there previously, which was the second copy of this sword that can be found (exclusive to Roche's path).
  • Restored sword - Wight. Schematic can be found in Loc Muinne's sewers next to Vran armor parts.


-Compatibility-
Should be compatible with texture mods by default as textures are practically untouched here. Not compatible with any compilation mods on Nexus or any mods that change base_scripts.dzip file. That being said, mod should be compatible with most mods with manual merging/tweaking. Keep in mind that this package already includes many of the useful improvements made by community over the years, on top of that these fixes are often improved here.

Consult the list below for mods that are integrated completely or superseded with a better version. You have to uninstall them, if you're using Project Mersey. This list is not final, there might be mods that I don't know about:

-Installation-
Easy installation (get the full package fast and easy):
  • Find you Witcher 2 installation directory. Go to "The Witcher 2\CookedPC" folder and backup base_scripts.dzip file. Also backup all the .w2strings files (or at least the ones for your relevant languages). There are 14 .w2strings files in total.
  • Download Project Mersey all-in-one package, extract archive. Copy "CookedPC" folder from the archive to your "The Witcher 2" root folder. Say 'yes' to overwrite. If you're not asked to overwrite anything, you copied it in a wrong place.
  • In your game's launcher go to Options -> DLC Settings and make sure ZZ_Upatch.dzip is visible in menu and set to 'Enabled'.
  • Read the first sticky post in the comments section. Yes, it's required.

Manual installation (at least moderate Witcher 2 modding knowledge required):
  • If you want to pick only certain fixes or remove the ones you don't like, or if you want to manually merge this mod with any other, I've provided an archive under optional files with all the loose files used by the mod. I will not be explaining how to do it, nor will I be held responsible if you break anything in the process. You will also need the .xls file (also under optional files) that explicitly details every single fix with all the files edited. Consult this file to pinpoint what you need to copy. Many files are edited by multiple fixes, so keep that in mind when you're copying, as using some files without others used by the same fix might break the game or lead to glitches.

-Uninstallation-
  • Delete the files you copied to your "CookedPC" folder. Restore vanilla base_scripts.dzip file and any localization files you overwrote.
