Compatibility - or "how can I make this change myself?"
=======================================================
This hotfix will be incompatible with any other mod that alters the def_item_recipes.xml file. If you want to use this fix, but also use another mod that tweaks recipes in whatever way, you can easily apply it yourself by following these steps:
Skip the installation instructions given above, and instead navigate to the altered def_item_recipes.xml file you already have (that you got from installing whatever other mod you are using). Open it up using a simple text program, such as Notepad, and search for the keyword 'Argentia.' A few lines below your search result, you will find four lines specifying a series of alchemical ingredients; Vitriol, Aether, Rebis, Caelum.
This exact series is an exact duplicate of the ingredients required for the Healing Concoction you must brew in the Tutorial, so you need to tweak them a little bit to make it possible for you to once again craft the Whirl oil (which in this file is referred to as Argentia). The easiest and most fair way to do this, that I found, is to simply change 'Caelum' to instead read 'Vitriol.' This will alter the recipe to require an extra piece of Vitriol, instead of the Caelum, and this combination is - as far as I can see - not conflicting with any other existing (vanilla) recipe.
Done!
