vortex supported. this is an overhaul of the standard guns. adds some effects, but mostly i tried to make sure that the damage boost is as flat as possible so that guns rock from the start.

vortex:

if vortex works for you, the file is already formatted for vortex. so you can just click the vortex button and do everything through vortex.

if you manually downloaded you can just drop the .7z file into vortex and proceed to enable it through vortex.

otherwise use the manual install method.


manual install: 

first, you should make a back up of the items folder incase you dont like this mod. its located at c:/program files(x86)/steam/steamapps/common/Vampire The Masquerade - Bloodlines/"the directory you use"/vdata/items

then first extract the compressed file using 7zip. go into the extracted folder and take a copy of the vdata folder and drop it into c:/program files(x86)/steam/steamapps/common/Vampire The Masquerade - Bloodlines/"the directory you use"

the directory you use depends on what version you use.

this mod should be compatible with any other mod as you keep in mind that this mod overwrites/overrides the gun files.

i had wanted to strip the damage bonus aspect from the ranged combat skill so that the skill just improved accuracy... but i couldnt do that. so i opted to take the fps version i made and tune everything to 11. so this is my preferred version. its also harder than the fps version.

just drop the folder into the proper directory. it will probably be located in c:/program files(x86)/steam/steamapps/common/Vampire The Masquerade - Bloodlines/

as with the fps version, no mods are required and this should be compatible with any other mod as long as over writing all the gun files isnt a conflict for you. still dosnt include a file for the flaming crossbow/dragons breath.

heres a little more info about what the mod does.


i beefed up the damage for guns. but i also kept in mind that vampires are supposed to be tough as nails concerning bullets. so keep your soak and defense rising and you should do fine. if you want to do head on melee, you will need a defensive discipline as well. ventrue and gangrel will know their fortitude points were well spent.

i refined the way the ranged combat stat improves accuracy. but even if you only have a few points, you should still be able to use guns pretty well. but if you want to run and gun, you will need to put more points into fire arms and perception.

all the guns fire visible projectiles now.

i added a "heat wave" effect to the projectiles.

gave all the guns some force to their projectiles, so they knock targets back with the kill shot.

all guns have some knockback capacity. some more than others.

shotguns now fire 8 projectiles... and i clamped their min/max spread and fixed the vanilla sound issue.

shotguns now also live up to jacks warning as well as the evil dead's portrayal... so watch out.

fixed the scope wiggle too. scopes are tricky... but they're not THAT tricky....

i grouped a few weapons ammo pools. so for instance, the starter pistol and mac 10 now use the same ammo pool.

i used the classic game names and gave the hunting revolver and assault rifle nice fictional world of darkness names.

gordon freeman would be jealous of the neonates hunting revolver now. i made sure both fireing modes work well and then gave it bashing damage... so the gargoyle better learn to find cover.

i beefed up the ai's rate of fire with most weapons. not all... just most.

probably some other stuff... but thats all i can remember. let me know if you have any issues.

oh and watch out for crossbows....


-1.2 stuff-

added the shotgun reload audio fix from 1.1

gave the cross bow a daisy sue type zoom secondary mode

reworked the run/walk accuracy for allll the guns. pistols are better at running and gunning now.

reworked the cross hair recovery for rifles and the cross bow

messed with the hunting revolver some more. so now its sort of a stop gap weapon that falls between the glock and the deagle; and the mac 10 and the uzi/aug depending on the fire mode selected. does a little less damage and is a little less proficient for running and gunning than the deagle.

gave the glock a burst fire alt attack

some projectile velocity tweaks for rifles.

a few smaller accuracy tweaks for pistols.


-1.4 stuff-

improved the uzi recoil

fixed the crossbow reload issue

increased the ammo drop for rifles and crossbow

fixed the npc fire rate for the crossbow and rifles... i think...


-1.5 stuff-

added frag grenades! buy em from merc or tseng mid game. trying to console them glitches em... dont know why...

they sometimes dud... don't know if that was intended or if its a glitch.

tseng sells the sniper rifle now after china town cuz this mod uses the vanilla vendors file... for now.


-1.6 stuff-

fixed the delayed scope toggle issue

add the price fix patch; base prices are lower than the patch though.

nerfed the knockback for alll the guns.

grenades are cheaper now.


-1.7 stuff-

you can now buy the key to the skyline apartment from larry.

changed some fluff...

improved the uzi's handling and gave it a two shot burst fire mode.

gave some of the guns a more subtle bullet model

brought the mod as closely inline to UP_10.5 as was possible. (thanks wesp)
