Recently I've been testing a few other audio mods. Uninstalling them through Vortex might leave empty folders behind causing problems during play. So, if you feel like trying out some of the awesome stuff around, remember to clean the Custom Audio folder after disabling/uninstalling the ones you don't like.
The idea is to add a few more sounds like bosses' deaths and what not. But keep most of Valheim sound identity intact.
The more heavy handed approach will be left to the "stuck in the past" version. That's where, if I get the gist of it, I will try to change most of the sounds.
But I can't promiss the second one though. I made this more as a challenge and for personal use.
BTW, thanks to your kind words. I hope you enjoy this mod just as much as I am!
You mentioned not knowing how to package it for Vortex, just put the "CustomAudio" folder in the root of the archive and Vortex should properly install it to the default location, which will be the "BepInEx\plugins" folder since the Valheim Vortex extension doesn't have a ModType for CustomAudio yet. I'd suggest either repacking the file or disabling the mod manager download button, as Vortex will not install this correctly the way it is packed.
hmmm. I'll try repackaging it properly ASAP. Thanks for the hint. Btw, did you try it through Vortex? Cause the way I packaged it was copied from a mod I downloaded yesterday: Alternative Bow Sounds. I installed it through Vortex and it worked perfectly fine. I do wish I could add install options inside Vortex like I've seen on many Fallout 4 mods. Would you happen to know how it is done? It would be swell to implement it in such a way people could opt out of certain aspects of this mod.
are you referring to the fallout / skyrim mcm? if i'm not mistaken this feature is only valid for these games because of the Creation Kit which offers the possibility to create the MCM, without the creation kit or a similar program there is no way to create the installation menu to run on the vortex.
Actually it looks like I was wrong. The updated version of the Valheim extension for Vortex was able to tag it as a BepInEx root mod and install it to the right location. As for the Fallout mods, i'm assuming you're referring to the installer-like options? Those would be FOMOD installers. They should work for any game if set up correctly. You can check out the FOMOD Creation Tool.
EDIT: I actually just wrote a basic one with your mod to choose if I wanted music and/or sfx and it worked fine, so shouldn't be a problem.
