It's a config file for BetterTrader by Menthus15. It was build intending to give a coherent price in coins for EACH item in the game. Built with Singleplayer in mind or small Co-ops, although Multiplayer could work well.

I'm still balancing things out and will add eventual new items when they are released.
If you don't like something, feel free to make suggestions or change values yourself, it's a config file after all.

All Hearth and Home Items were included!
Terraheim version available!

We have to define two values to each item: a BUY PRICE and a SELL PRICE. I've found out after testing that it's better to determine the Sell Price of an item and then calculate it's Buy Price as needed.

Sell Prices:
I initially gave prices to raw items and calculate a price for all other items resultant of recipes. This approach resulted that a produced item is never cheaper than raw itens involved in its craft. In general, itens easy to get are extremely cheap (Ex: wood, resin, greydwarf eyes).

While looking for additional ways to make money and incorporate new professions in Roleplay, I've also added a profit value to produce items depending on:

  • The Complexity of each item (Ex: requires more complex Workshop Items, like a forge, and upgrades;)
  • The difficulty to obtain those items, usually done by looking on the Biome the raw materials were found (generaly, a Plains produced item will cost more than a Meadows produced item).

Here are examples of some calculations. In recipes that produces multiple items, profit is calculated in recipe, NOT on each item:

Example 1:
Spoiler:
Show
Recipe: Bronze Helmet = 5x Bronze + 2x Deer Hide
SELL PRICE = 5 x 70c + 2 x 20c + 300c (Profit from Tier II armors)
SELL PRICE = 350 + 40 + 300 = 690 coins

Example 2:
Spoiler:
Show
Recipe: (Craft 6x) Tasty Mead = 10x Honey + 10x Raspberries + 5 Blueberries
SELL PRICE = 10 x 2c + 10 x 3c + 5 x 5c + 30c (Profit from Tier I meads) / 6
SELL PRICE = 20 + 30 + 25 + 30/ 6
SELL PRICE = 105 / 6 = 18 coins

Buy Prices:
This value I have more room to manipulate as needed. It really is a case by case approach to make the economy to my liking. I tried to not be completely arbitrary by using predefined ratios, and when I didn't an asterisk (*) was used on my Prices Calculations file.

It's also important to take in consideration that prices fluctuate by 30%.

All ratios are available on a .txt file named "Documentation - Valheim Economy System Overhaul Prices", under Misc Files in the Files tab.

This mod can help Roleplay in Valheim! Pick a job and figure it out new ways to make money!

  • Fermenter: selling potions is now quite viable to gain money! However, the Trader will NOT buy or sell Mead Base type itens.
  • Bounty Hunter: it's possible to live off bounties!
  • Cook: this is one of the best ways to make money! You can start early game, with a low investment, and it will still be viable in Endgame because of the Tiers in food. The Trader will NOT buy or sell intermediate food items like Bread dough.
  • Smith: smithing is also quite versatile! You can sell armors, weapons and arrows for a excellent profit. However, be aware, making and selling some items like nails can make you actually lose money.
  • Hunter: well, all those pelts are valuable...
  • Adventurer: going treasure hunting is still a good tactic, as well as clearing dungeons and troll lairs. Killing Bosses and selling their drops, as well as trophies in general, is also very worthwhile. While exploring the oceans, be on the lookout for the valuable Chitin.
  • Forager and Farmer: live off the land! If you are low on coins, you can sell all the things you collect in the world, just don't expect to gain much money...

While my mod is already compatible (meaning, almost all items will show on the trader), it is STRONGLY recommended to use this Patch in Files tab, because I changed some fundamental things on these mods. The biggest change is: the cost of items to upgrade tiers in rarity is Lower (Ex: to make a LEGENDARY Runestone you now need 3 EPIC Runestones, before was 5). All itens prices were balanced with that in mind.

I also increased the amount of coins needed on some recipes, nerfed the overpowered drops of late Bosses (no more only fighting Yagluth to upgrade Legendary gear) and removed the junk recipes (couldn't figure out how to balance the values with then because trophies can be sacrificed for shards, but you can still sell excess junk stacks) . Even if you don't use all the mods in Epic Endgame mod, like adding new biomes or monsters, it's recommended to use this patch.

CHANGELOG:
Spoiler:
Show
VERSION 1.0.1:
- Added Recipe to sacrifice Growth Trophy producing 1 SHARD RARE
- Added Recipe to sacrifice Abomination Trophy producing 1 SHARD EPIC
- Altered "Leather Belt" recipe to be more accessible from start

Exact changes also available in .txt file "Documentation - Epic Loot and Epic Endgame Changes", under Misc Files in the Files tab.

  • Terraheim: Compatible by using  "TERRAHEIM and Valheim Economy - MAIN DOWNLOAD"

I made this version by request. It contains the values in "Valheim Economy System Overhaul - MAIN DOWNLOAD", but I added almost all materials, armors, weapons, arrows and utility items (in total, more than 200 items added by Terraheim and its dependencies).

IMPORTANT: Install Terraheim latest version (v2.2.0) with Chaos Warrior Armor latest version (v9.0.5) and Judes Equipment OLD VERSION (v1.4.0). As with Judes Equipment v2.0.0 and higher, the mod was changed and it won't show the stats intended by Terraheim.

List of Quality of Life changes:
Spoiler:
Show
- I decided to not include "Blackmetal Pickaxe" because of its bugs, so the Trader won't sell or buy it and you can't craft it.
- I removed the craft recepies of other armor (Dragonslayer's, Mistlands, Wanderer Sets) added by Judes equipment that were not incorporated in Terraheim.
- As with Chaos Armor v9.0.5, it was added a new tier set (but not incorporated by Terraheim) and I can't disable it, so I moved the craft recipe to the "Forge".

There are some items I couldn't add. For some reason I couldn't figure it out, armors added by Judes Equipment don't show on Better Trader config file. List of Missing Items:

Barbarian Cape
Barbarian Chestplate
Barbarian Helmet
Barbarian Leggings
Fur-Linend Barbarian Cape
Gesith Greaves

Hýran Boots
Hýran Coat

Simple Backpack
Obsidian Dagger

Some armors are bugged and are BUY-ONLY. Also, these items will display old names in Trader Window (Ex: "Fryd Gamberson" show as "Leather Tunic", but only in Trader view). Basically, this happens because if Terraheim changed the name of some armor, be vanilla or Chaos Armor, Better Trader mod don't work as intendedList of Bugged Items:

Detailed Documentation is also available in .txt file "Documentation - Valheim Economy System Overhaul TERRAHEIM Version", under Misc Files in the Files tab.

Thanks to eightheadedboy, for suggesting this version and being available to discuss the mod changes.

You can check a spreadshet with all items prices here.

Items were placed in subcategories and then organized in alphabetical order

Decimal values are round up like this: If a value is ≤ 0,5, it will use the lower number (Ex: 38,3 will be rounded up to 38 in game); if it is > 0,5, it will use the higher number (Ex: 48,8 will be rounded up to 49 in game).

Values in red mean they are different from the original ratios, meaning an arbitrary value was used or a different ratio was used (this new ratio is specified in my Documentation Text Files).

  • Build a spreadshet
  • New version compatible with Terraheim
  • Balance values as needed, I must do another playthrough of Valheim to test.
  • Maybe add the SELL PRICE without price fluctuation in each item in inventory, similar to how enchantments show up in Epic Loot.

  • Manual Instalation:
Spoiler:

Extract the file and copy it's contents to your Valheim game directory, where valheim.exe is, overwritting when asked.

  • Mod Manager Instalation:

Just install it as you are used to.

Feel free to make any suggestions or report strange prices.
