Version 2.0.0 is now available. It has significant new features and improved functionality. It now possible to have the lot open only on certain days of the week. There is also a new Automatic Mode that will only turn the mod on when a selectable sim is present.
Suggestion for a new mat, a welcome mat for public lots that attracts sims with a certain trait. Athletic sims get attracted to the gym, artistic sims the art gallery, bookworms have the library. But so many other traits have nothing. Where does the logical sims go to meet others that are into logic? The chess park in Sunset Valley? No because that doesn't attract any sim unless your sim goes there and then any sim will be called to visit. Where does the Virtuoso sim go? Well they don't have a place for that trait.
A mat for public lots that follows the default attract hour/number of sims rules for public lots but can be setup to attract sims with a trait like the gym and library attracts jocks and book lovers. This way everyone can create a place for certain sims to go for entertainment rather than not have any place specific for their trait. A club for virtuoso sims with musical instruments, a karaoke machine, a bar and no stereo because the sims that visit will make their own music. A chess park with chess and domino tables, telescopes, a garden for harvesting, and regular park stuff so the logical sims can meet each other and enjoy themselves while increasing their logic skill. A public garden with flowers and harvestable food and a fishing hole that gets gardeners and maybe cooks coming to visit.
Lot type Visitors Allowed is perfect, it doesn't attract sims, it's the rabbit hole on the lot that does the attracting or the Trait attraction mat if we had one.
Worked perfect for making a home based Ambitions Stylist career. Instead of going to the town salon and making the same 10 sims into clowns I used a 20x30 lot made most of it the sims home that was fenced in with locked gates for the family and the other part was a salon. Every sim that was young adult and older managed to show up and was offered a makeover by Amy Bull and got her unique style... Everyone in Twinbrook looked like a clown thanks to Create a style lol.
Party animal household had a home nightclub, they made jack all for money from it but they loved it though some sims would nap in their beds lol. Every day was a party day and no invites needed.
Made a Nectary/bar for another household, nothing like making a bunch of sims puke from $1k+ bottles of homemade plasma fruit nectar though tending the bar didn't count as moonlighting as a mixologist.
The Welcome Mat is brilliant! My favorite was fulfilling Amy Bull's lifetime wish and making Twinbrook into a town of clowns, I still laugh when thinking about them all.
Hi, I'm lucky enough to have the opposite problem to what this mod remedies. Whenever I go to a lot, it is already jam packed with Sims, I'm looking for something to limit how many Sims can be on certain community lots.
I was wondering if that is something I can do with your mod or is the limit in this mod just the limit of Sims that will be invited?
Thanks for this mod, it will be really useful! That said, I didn't find a translation string, I wanted to put the instructions in French to use it more easily in game... Is there another way to translate it other than STBL? It would be so practical! (I would be happy to provide the French translation for you)
@newpaladinx333 -> Thank you very much for this mod! It's an excelent idea you've had. Yesterday when I was playing TS3, I thought about how dead was that place I took my controlled Sims. I like to build Lounges, Arcade places, Dance Clubs and Bars - have quite a few of them in the game, but all of them are always empty... :( The Arcade Place I built is from my 1980's memory...when I was an young adult and there were lots of Arcade Places in my home town (in real life). I miss those places too much...as I miss my youth... :'( Just like you, I also don't have Pets installed. I love them so much that I wouldn't bare see some abandoned (in real life I've rescued a lot of them). You've thought about everything when creating this mod. Cheers for you! I just downloaded and I'll try it asap in my game. I really hope, from the bottom of my heart, you've find a job that gives the merit you deserve! Much love to you, from Brasil <3 Sonia
From me and the sim 3 community, thank you for the mod!
Suggestions: Able to make the rug invisible Everyone don't need to touch the rug. Maybe make the rug area bigger Set by days. Mondays on and Tuesday off Set by Traits and gender Enable/Disable animals Stop the rug from sending away sims that are filtered not to be sent. I had the rug disable toddlers but brought my active household's tot and the game made him disappear from the left panel and could only get him back by resetting him with NRAAS' Mastercontroller.
The player household should be excluded in everything the mod says it does. Setting by days is an excellent suggestion to go with the hours.
Edit: I would like to add my own suggestion of the ability to make stray cats/dogs(from pets) and paparazzi uninvited from the home lot if the rug is on it to run a club or whatever at home. Or just place one to remove those annoyances. Nothing like my sim deciding she is going to skinny dip in her pool in her own backyard and some asswipe is walking around the pool taking pictures while a dog is barking at the front door to make the game enjoyable. I am going to use the mod as is though and make a family with a club on the same lot but fence in the home half and lock gates to it.
I am sorry about the toddler disappearing. Selectable toddlers and babies will not be sent home in the next version. This was an oversight on my part.
-If the rug was invisible you would not be able to click on it to change the settings. I usually camouflage mine so it's hard to see unless you know where to look for it.
-The allowable range for sims arriving at the mat is currently 0 to 5 meters. I will look into making this configurable in the next version.
-I will consider adding a day filter.
-You can already filter by gender. Filtering by traits would be difficult as there are sooo many of them.
This line for pets is already in the filter code: if (s.SimDescription.IsPet == true) return false; Pets of any kind are not suppose to be invited by the mod, if they are... something is truly wrong with the game.
The next version will prevent any role sim (like paparazzi) from being invited. The mod does not exclude sims who show up on their own. I use the Register mod to turn off paparazzi altogether.
Pets aren't invited by the mod, so the strays are arriving of their own accord. I don't have the Pets expansion pack, so anything involving pets I am unable to test.
